Moved to Calgary from the Ottawa area back in 2019 and man I'm glad I made that decision, yes the weather can be a challenge but overall looking at all the pro's and con's Alberta was a smart move, not perfect then again nothing is perfect, cost of living is cheaper for sure you will retain more of your net income vs living in Ontario for sure.

@@CurtisOnUA-cam Best move I ever made, Alberta is a great place, cost of overall living is cheaper, no HST tax just the damn GST on all goods purchased, houses here in Calgary are about 25 to35% cheaper, Alberta has the lowest gas prices at the pumps, right now it's at about $ 1.18 per Litre, property taxes are much lower, and we have the lowest unemployment in the country, despite recession fears Alberta is looking much better overall, if you are a Liberal minded person you may find it hard to find friends, Alberta is a very Conservative based atmosphere, Calgary has about a population of 1,309,000, 4th largest city in Canada , the scenery of the mountains is amazing, like any location no place is perfect, Calgary has it's problems as well, winter's are a little longer but all n all after living in Ottawa and Toronto for most of my life I wish I had made the move to Alberta years ago !, so if you decide to relocate and want to settle in Alberta you will not be disappointed , good luck ! Yes AB weather is unpredictable, however; if you are from northern ON you are used to the unpredictable weather. The pros of living here in AB cuts the cons for me. My two cents to ON & BC - take a trip to AB to enjoy & experience the best side of Canada! It's worth it 😉

.. i lived in toronto for 30 years. im now 40 and in 2020 my wife suggested to me that we make a change in our lives for the better and move to Calgary alberta to have a more comfortable & fun life because toronto was getting way to expensive and uncomfortable to retire in.. i hated the idea of it and wasn't anywhere interested in leaving toronto and everyone i knew. but after a few years researching and watching youtube videos about Calgary.. i started to realize that toronto was not the right city that i wanted to live in anymore and calgary was where i needed to be.. So in march 2022 we packed up everything said goodbye to everyone we knew, sold our house and left toronto for Calgary. And its definitely by far been the best move we've ever made and we absolutely love Calgary and will in no way be moving back to that crazy flat landscaped city. not because we now live here in Calgary.. but because our lives are so much better here with the open spaces, endless bike trails, walking trails hiking, the mountains, kayaking, and so, so, so much more .. now some of our friends over in toronto see what we see and are trying to make the move here to... we now own 2 homes here in Calgary...something we could never afford in toronto and we're so happy and privileged to be here in this wonderful mountain city.. 😃.. thanks

@@Bambotb ..i totally get where your coming from with this question but anywhere you move to in ontario or B.C the housing prices will still be way higher then in Calgary alberta and in Ontario I'd still need to take out a mortgage.. selling and moving from toronto to calgary allowed me to pay off my mortgage in full, all credit card Debts and car payments then in Calgary to buy a way bigger & nicer house in cash with still having hundreds of thousands left over for my future..so for me it was a smart thing to do being in my 40's plus my job was not located everywhere ontario and driving far to get to work was something i didn't want to do....i know this is not something for everyone but it worked out amazing for me...as for the weather its a different climate in Calgary.. its a dry cold and it dose get super cold in calgary but that lasts for just a few days then we have Chinook winds that come in over the mountains causing it to warm right up to sometimes +10 melting all the snow.. and this happens a lot... i find toronto to be just as cold most times and the snow sits there till spring ..calgary is still a big city so most time i can't tell the difference... for me the juice was well Worth the squeeze moving to Calgary..

Only downside with Alberta real estate is it doesn't appreciate in value as much as ON/BC. However for younger people that are starting out, the much cheaper prices are very attractive.

Yeah we have the gift, and curse of space here so housing demands can be met pretty easily by continuing to develop land. I say gift and curse because it does create more affordable housing, but also urban sprawl. From an investment stand point though, relying or assuming on appreciation is purely speculation where as cash flow from properties here is much stronger. And totally, for young people starting out, they have more opportunity to build a life.

Left Alberta 15 years ago and moved to BC. There is a reason why you see 1000's of Albertans in BC during the summer and winter - big money to be made in Alberta but big fun to be had in BC. If you can get well establish in a solid BC real estate market, you'll be capable of affording a house anywhere in Canada. Plus, you'll likely see a higher ROI over a shorter period of time due to the higher demand for BC housing. The only promise of living in the "promised land of Alberta" is that you will have to travel to other places for vacations.

It’s definitely a conversation with a lot of layers. And the price appreciation in housing you’ve seen since leaving Alberta is incredible so that is an amazing windfall for your family. Leaving paradise to cash in that equity definitely isn’t for everyone. But if you’re in your early twenties and completely priced out of the market, Alberta isn’t a bad compromise. 🙂

We are in Quebec and we are tired of discrimination, stupid laws, we dont send children to kindergarten because teachers are allowed to talk daily about sex with children under 5, roads are back and cars take alot of damage from roads, income is low and taxes are high, however rural Quebec is generally good and has alot of used things that are cheap to buy… overall when you work and you make money alot of people are angry with you and will punish you for being happy… alot of people are rude and ignorant friends are extremely hard to make… even if you speak French but cant say a word properly people consider you as something less then a human… some call it racist other call it rude but most people are depressed and worship satanism some admit it others say they are just atheist, but I have not met many people with genuine heart and those that I have met have been not easy to come by and they live not an easy life…. I think Alberta has some people like that also but over all most likely Alberta will never turn into such trashy place like Ontario or Quebec has become… every content creator I meet out of Alberta has been positive happy and full of Joy, Me and my family are moving to Alberta and it will be our last place to try in Canada to find a good happy life, if that doesn’t work out we will leave Canada, but something tells me that Alberta is that far away place that we wanted to find for so long! I moved to BC from Alberta and I find the argument of expense in bc is only valid if you don’t consider the big picture of life and what you love to do. Housing costs went up bc but Utilities dropped huge. So that balanced out. Gas was more expensive but we have to drive so much less so our gas bill is half. I used to spend obscene amounts on the winter “escape” that everyone in Alberta does. Mexico. Whatever. I love where I live now and have so much less desire to travel. And I won’t get started on the Alberta political scene and values. I find it’s pretty much the exact same price if you consider everything. And you love the ocean and forest etc.

I live in Quebec . I thought Ontario would be better for me and my family, but after some quick trips there last summer... I'm not so sure anymore. It seems the woke agenda / covid shit (people walking on the sidewalk alone with their mask on...or driving their car alone with their mask on...etc.) is even worst in Ontario :( I'm not happy about that. I know a lot of people who do not agree with the woke agenda but still they just ignore it. Homelessness is becoming a normality everywhere, so if your city has parks or beautiful places, they're mostly overrun by these degenerates. No one goes downtown anymore unless for a very quick trip to the bank or specialty store. City funding will of course go to these and all sorts of new projects for the zombies and the drug addicts is happening all over. Taxes on Quebecers have always been amongst the highest in North America. But none seem to care much about that either. I don't know why, but stupid/conquered mentality comes to mind...often... wtf is going on? So my question is, where is it safe, beautiful to live in Alberta? And as important, if not more, where are the most common sense (aka conservative) place to live in Alberta? My kids go to college so I need not be too far from them is possible. Thank you and God bless Canada.
