Anyone else have a soft spot for the gen 2 Vs?? A little out of my own "daily driver" budget, but someday...😂
RicKnights 2006 Cadillac STS4 4.6 V8 Northstar AWD
Literally one of my modern day dream cars
@@T5_T-Rell Rightfully so!
I luv my coupe tho
Used to daily a G8 and now I daily a manual SS and it's the most fun I've ever had in a car. Smiles per gallon are through the roof and I can't keep myself from driving it, gotta give props to the Aussies for this one
Went from one awesome ride to another😂
Yes , I also have a 16 Chevy SS love the car . Mine is the auto tho.
@@ToddMorrow-k3k Still definitely a badass ride man, let me know if you ever wanna trade for a beater lmao
1 honorable mention from the comments. 2006 Cadillac STS4 V8 AWD i got mine for 4k cash with only 101k miles. 5 seconds 0 to 60. Its rumored the v6 is just 1 second slower for about 3k
I just check that out online 🔥🔥🔥 🔥
Sts-v is way better
Not really, the car is cheap because the Northstar V8 in it is a garbage engine, you have to remove half the engine to replace the starter
@@Bmstaudy that whine is loud as hell like a termi or hellcat lol
@ yessir I used to love mine now I have a corvette that whines
Lexus ISF should definitely be an honorable mention
Id agree but he did say American…
Right but mentioned the LS 460
He did mention he would say some foreign too. The 2URGSE motors are damn good.
Shut up dude keep it low key
The 06-11 caddilac dts northstar does not have any problems from the past an glad to see someone talk about them
They definitely get their fair share of hate, but it's not all deserved
@@LibertyDrives dont forget about the cadillac srx an sts also had northstars but ta traditional layout with rwd or awd
Working at a GM dealership as a GM specialist the North Star V8 was the worst motor I have ever seen installed into any general motors product.
What are your thoughts on the Cadillac DTS mentioned in this video?
My 06 impala ss keeps me smiling!! 75k miles picked up for 9k!
Those are some nice low miles for $9k!! Sweet ride man
🔥🔥🔥
Keep a extra transmission on the side lol
@@DillonFrancis31 yes , I’ve hade my GXP GP since o8, I like it just as much as my Chevy SS sedan if not more!
That 5.3 is great on fuel. I get better fuel efficiency than a Subaru Forester.
The Pontiac G8 does not come with an LS2, it is an L76 which has DOD or as I like to call it “death on demand”. I had a G8 and loved it, but if anyone is looking at one and it still has the stock valve train beware of it. A DoD delete and cam swap will fix the issue tho
I believe the DOD (or AFM as it was known here in Australia) is only in the automatic transmission models and is disabled in the ecu on manual models, but this could be different once exported over to the US.
If you can find a gxp trim you have the ls3 instead.
Lmao "death on demand", I like that. You're right though, that's my bad. I read that somewhere and even took it out of the specs on the screen but still said the wrong thing😂
@@Gengargamer2_ In the states the G8 GT only came in an automatic with the 6.0 L76. The G8 GXP came in auto or manual and both had the 6.2L LS3 and that has no DOD
@@LibertyDrives Haha no worries bro! I’m obsessed with G8’s so just had to put it out there!
Ahhh Man He posted another banger again🎉
Thank you brotha! That means a lot!
I’m in love with my marauder it’s amazing to daily so comfy and fast enough and has an amazing sound
Format is: Number, Car, Timestamp, Quick Note
1. 08-09 Pontiac G8 GT 1:05
2. 15-20 Dodge Charger RT or 392 1:50 (Honestly just Chargers in general though lmao, including the Magnum and Chrysler 300)
3. 98-12 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis/Marauder/Towncar/Continental 3:26 (It's the Panther platform, you know how it be)
4. 14-17 Chevrolet SS 4:43 (Also mentions Pontiac G8 GXP, but they're less common)
5. 06-11 Cadillac DTS 5:45 (Fixed Northstars)
6. 11-17 Chevrolet Capric PPV 6:45 (Differentiates from G8 GTs because it's the same thing, but all of them were police cars)
7. 09-14 Cadillac CTS-V2 10:03 (Also mentions the earlier CTS-V, and the following CT5-V and CT6)
8. Foreign alternatives- Lexus LS430/460; older Mercedes; Volvo S80 9:18
9. Car to Avoid: Lincoln LS 9:34 (Seems great, but a lot of owners seem to hate them)
Personally I'd add onto these the late 90s-early 2000s BMW 5-series (E39) and the early-mid 2010's Hyundai Genesis sedans and the Equus (especially the 15-16 years), though obviously all three are foreign.
Driven my 2002 Lincoln LS for 3 years, hard acceleration, braking and still runs and drives without hesitation.
For me, it was the best handling American V-8 sedan, before the third generation CTS / CT-5. Too bad it didn’t get the S-Type R’s supercharger and more robust transmission!
The 2006-2009 impala SS, Pontiac grand prix gxp and buick lacrosse super they all had 5.3 ls4 v8s making 303hp
great selection bro,and dope video, i love the ctsv 2016
Thank you very much man, that means a lot🙏
@LibertyDrives keep going like that bro,You win a new susbcriper, the only one that You miss is the Chrysler 300 srt8 is a beast and not that expensive.
@@bradquintero7932 Aye thank you, I'm totally with you on the SRT8s, I kept em as a quick mention with the Chargers but maybe they should've been their own entry lol
Now this is great content! Keep it up ❤
Thank you!! I really appreciate that
07 or 08 Audi RS4. High revving 4.2 l V8, same engine as the R8. 4.5 0 to 60, but will run tens easily with a supercharger. Only made with a manual transmission. Super rare - around 2,000 released in the US according to Wikipedia. I owned this car for about 5 years and drove it daily. Super reliable with minimal issues. Many people refer to the timing chain, but that is an issue with the S4 rather than the RS4.
That's pretty wild to have daily-ed something that uncommon but sounds like a really sweet ride!
08 dts here love that car!
so glad to see
I was just thinking about car options. If that Cadillac DTS is as good as you say, I think I’ll keep it in mind.
Absolutely man, if you ever get one though and things go poorly... you didn't hear it from me😬😂
@ Haha, right! 😅
Love this video. Personally own a g8 and I really want a cts-v! I also have a TBSS but they’re slow af stock
Aye thank you! I'm with ya on the V but havin a G8 and that SS is definitely a sweet setup too
Crazy that the Lexus legendary 2UR-GSE V8 motor like in the IS500 is not included. Right now it’s the only 4 door N/A V8 being produced since Dodge nixed their Hemi motor.
W video ‼️
Thank you man! 😎🙏
I got a wide body Charger scat 23. But I really wanted a CTS V last generation. My nephew has a Chevy SS those are pretty rare and clean.
I actually own a dts, I’m gettin a marquis this week as well
Yep, I had the DTS 06 performance package. Was a fucking beauty and drove FLAWLESSLY. Recommended definitely
I know someone selling one and I hafta admit... part of me's quite tempted lmao
@ Throw some super 10’s on the rear mufflers and cold air intake that’s all it’s made for 😤🤍
Yes , you got the PPV in this 🔥, second option if you can’t afford the SS
Hell yeah!!
I would include the 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO. It's my daily right now and you can't go anywhere without getting thumbs up and lots of looks.
Got a 2017 chevy ss love it
5.7 hemi and do the hellcat oil put upgrade, easy lifter issue fix, AND CHANGE YOUR OIL ON TIME!
07-08 audi rs-4 should have been in the foreign car shout out. The gen 2 ctsv or the b7 rs4 would be my choice for a $30-40k family 4 door rocket
You can’t leave out the STS V man supercharged v8 and beautiful interior love mine
Nothing beats a 96 Buick roadmaster with a LT1 from factory
Had 2 of them one with a soft top and sunroof I sure miss those car's hard to find these day's
Owned a 4 door 2011 AMG C63 years ago. With a tune only from Eurocharged 540hp 494ft/lbs Naturally Aspirated
Now THAT'S a sweet ride, I'll always love those
Better foreign alternative to the lexus ls460 is the Lexus ISF: more horsepower, torque, better looks, and more reliable. The ls460 was a little unorthodox in the sense that it wasn’t as reliable as its predecessors the ls430/400 and parts were a little more expensive.
Ah I didn't know that, that's some great input though, thank you🙏
Infiniti m56 as well
You forgot my favorite that I owned. The 1992-1996 Impalla SS / Caprice group. IT’s literally a couch on wheels. And to me the DTS of the first generation looked better than the one ☝️ you’ve shown in this video.
Oh true, I like the look of those Impalas! I don't know much about how they'd be for daily driving but I know someone at my work has one lol
Also the Pontiac GTO 05-06 👍🏼
4:07 that’s a town car as well
The CTS-V2 is also available as a wagon if you want to pay twice as much as the sedan for practically the same car
Lol true, it's always cool seein the wagons at meets, especially manuals, I don't know if I could ever justify the price though unless I felt confident in it as a collectible investment
The Lincoln LS and its cousin the Jaguar S-Type were plagued by corporate bureaucracy. If the switch gear in the LS was better and if they planner just spent a little more time with R and D, they would have been a home run. For me, it was the best handling American V-8 sedan, before the third generation CTS / CT-5. Too bad it didn’t get the S-Type R’s supercharger and more robust transmission!
I found a chevy ss in my area for 29k
That’s cheap lol they are usually 40k+ because they only imported like 15k of them but so many got stripped or wrecked
I'm on my way, what's the addy?
i dont have nor have i ever had any of the vehicles in this list but i think the lexus ls430 deserves more than an honorable mention based on my research. i would put the cts v2 at the top overall and the chevy ss and ls430 would follow immediately after
That's fair, I admit I don't know nearly as much about the ls430s as I do the other cars, but I kept the entries here to only American ones. Still though, those were definitely one of the top 5 recommendations I saw from people for good, affordable V8 sedans
I would love a CTS-V. Luxury and muscle all in one
I have a v2 coupe and a TA love mines though I do not daily it... I daily a little 4 cylinder great on gas. Furthermore, I leave the v to nice weekends
Hell yeah! I'm jealous of your garage😂
I'm confused why Ford put the 2v 4.6s into the full-size sedans (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Town Car) but gave the mid-size sedans (Marauder, Continental) the 4v.
Cls 63 and 550 are really good for the price and miles
I’m actually looking into buying a 06-08 CLS 500 lol, cheap sleepers!
V8 4 door with a manual transmission is what most of us want. I'd love to have a CTS-V or CT5-V Blackwing if I could afford one.
I'm with ya on that!
You legit forgot about two I know they’re not V8, but they’re still contenders the Ford Taurus SHO and the Lincoln MKS they made a sport version of the Lincoln 2009 through 2011
You forgot the LS4 GXP GPs, Impala SS , Lacrosse Super.
That's very true, I had to kinda dwindle down so I didn't have too many cars but I could've kept those as honorable mentions
Been daily driving a G8GT for 3 years now and while its a great and fun car that gets lots of attention, I would not recommend daily driving one or any of the Holden variants, especially if you are an enthusiast you will feel like you are on egg shells every time you drive it. Between idiot drivers and insurance companies totaling them out if a scratch is too deep, it can start to get a little anxiety inducing using it as your every day transportation
Ngl that does sound rough :/
Im actually really surprised you included the continental. I got mine with 75,000 miles. They make 275hp. 😅
That's some great mileage!
I got a 2017 chevy ss that car is gangster regret nothing
They really are badass
The pontiac g8gt didn't have an LS2 it had an L76 which made a bit less power. The Pontiac g8 gxp had an LS3 with 420 horse.
You right, that was my b. I changed it in the on-screen specs when I wrote everything and still forgot it's not an LS2 when I was talkin lmao
I get 29 mgp on the highway on my 04 grand marquis 19 city i do be cruzing
Lol I had a 98 seville, every time I cranked the car, I had to add oil lol
lmao on the plus side... I bet you never needed a full oil change😎
Forgot to mention the 2006-2009 STS V
You right, they're a great option and I've talked about em before, not sure how I forgot em here though lol
That doesn’t have LS thou. That’s North Star ⭐️
@@LibertyDrives nah they alright thou they supercharged ✅
2009 Cadillac STS -V 4.4 SUPERCHARGED, 2004 CTS-V
04-06 GTO should be on the list
If it had 4 doors, it definitely would've been😂 I love those
You posted a photo of a town car not a Continental. The town car was a panther platform
Ah that's my bad, thank you though
It looked like a continental. The rear windshield is smother than the town cars more vertical rear windshield. Or did he fix it after this comment? 😅
The front bumper looks exactly like my continental.
@@diamondclaw5313 I thought it should've been a continental since that's what I had searched for in google lol. I'm not familiar enough with all the curves and lines on these to argue too much though lmao
For foreign V8 sedans, there is no better bang for your buck than the Hyundai Genesis/Genesis G80. The 5 liter V8 makes more power stock than the SS (420-429hp) and can be found for 5-10k cheaper for 2015 models, even less for 09-14 models. 2015+ models also have better interiors than the SS, with some models being able to get updated to run Android Auto/Carplay. I almost pulled the trigger on an SS for 33k, but just couldn't pass up the 2015 Genesis V8 for $25k with less miles.
When 😂😂😂 has Hyundai been reliable
@twongreen9968 most of Hyundai's reliability woes are from the lower end models. The 3.8 V6 and 4.6/5.0 V8 are solid. I'm speaking from experience bc I've owned vehicles with both engines. I will say they can't stand up to abuse or neglect like an LS, but they are reliable.
@AVguyRon you didn't answer tha question when have they been reliable those are crappy budget cars for people on a budget ask mechanics why them and Stellantis are rated tha most unreliable brands
@@twongreen9968I never said they were reliable to begin with. You asked your question without a question mark and I gave you an example of first hand experiences I had with Hyundai vehicles and told you what engines are reliable. The answer to your question is there, you just refused to see it for some reason. Take it how you wanna. 🤷🏾♂️
FINNALY
😂🙏
The GS460 is the King!
Add the 2009 Pontiac SLP FIREHAWK to the list
Impala ss 94-96
V6 next ?
That's not a bad idea at all!
Those older chargers are so ugly
Buggin out. They got the viper kinda look
Any of the F type Lexus are incredible daily drivers.( IS F, RC F, & GS F) The new IS 500 is an amazing daily as well. If you can't handle not having crazy tech / the "standard" Lexus luxury then the bespoke LC 500 is your car. Same amazing NA V8, beautiful coupe, and inside you can customize them to basically a Maybachs level. For a daily, whats not to live about a Lexus. A crime none of these made the list. - comment section expert
Lol you're definitely not wrong, I just only stuck to American sedans here. The foreign honorable mentions at the end were a new thing for me, but I liked still having them
Best performance (V8) SUV's?
That's a great idea! I recently made a similar one for the fastest 20k SUVs, I'm not sure if you've seen it or not but a V8s one could be sweet, thank you
@LibertyDrives I actually hadn't seen that one, but I'm definitely gonna go watch it now 🤣
@@gavingross2174 Well lmk if it helps or if you hate all of em lmao
I gotta sleeper for you Saab 97x aero
Lexus GSF and ISF
I honestly think the GSF is way too expensive because its so rare, ISFs are great though for one in ok condition going around 20k-25k and a clean one going 30k-40k.
I'll keep my ISF but there isn't a much better sound than a cammed pushrod V8.
BMW E90 M3 is a v8 that can be great for daily too
One of my friends loves BMWs and I want him to get one so bad but I don't know if he will lol
Audi a8 or s6/7. Also c63 from 2009-14.
🔥🔥🔥
No c6 GS??
As much as I love those, I kept these to sedans only lol. I'd love to daily one of those though😂
How bout a 550i BMW?
Another great choice, I hafta admit I don't know a ton about those off the top of my head though lol
Ls400, Gs400, gs430, ls430, didn’t add none of these?
Title does say American
Those are Japanese lol but my mom had a 01’ GS430 & my uncle has a LS460
I forgot about the GS's, but I had some 'foreign honorable mentions' towards the end
@@LibertyDrives RCF

You might've skipped over the mention😬😂
ISF, RCF or GSF
I personally think that the Lincoln LS should be an honorable mention 🫡
Do not buy a Cadillac I repeat do not by a Cadillac 😂
Well done, someone sell me your cts-v please

I missed the GS400 but I did keep the others as mentions. I kept it towards the end though

😂😂
Bro you forgot the 3rd gen ford Taurus sho that had the v8 😂
Merc Amg's and BMW M's
Good luck finding a clean G8 anymore
I wish it was a lot easier lmao, I'd HIGHLY consider one as a fun daily, sadly though I've mentally opted for the "beater daily with nice fun car" so I'm workin on the 2nd part of that equation after reducing to just my beater a year or two ago😂
You gotta pay at least 15k for a good one lol same goes with GTO’s
C5 corvette??
These were sedans only, but I'd LOVE to daily a C5 lmao (if I had a shorter commute)
@@LibertyDrives oh shit my bad haha
@@meatmilkeggfruits9117 Lmao no worries man, I think about Corvettes an uncontrollable amount sometimes too😂
@@LibertyDrives dude me too, me too I really wanna save for a C6 lol

im not biased or anything buuuuuut...........
2001-2006 tahoe :)
😂 Idk if you saw my recent video about the fastest SUVs under $20k, I don't think I had the tahoes in there but there were some that even had me considering some car shopping lol
