Queen Hosts Party For Children Who Missed Buckingham Palace Garden Party

- Queen Camilla hosted a garden party at Buckingham Palace Garden for Tony Hudgell, Lyla O’Donovan, and their families last week.
Both Tony and Lyla were unable to attend a formal garden party on May 8: Tony due to traffic and Lyla due to ill health.
As a result, the two were invited to have tea with the Queen at her London residence.
The palace shared a video on X, highlighting their story and the garden party.
Arriving at Buckingham Palace, both children watched the Changing of the Guard from inside the forecourt.
They were then received by Her Majesty for a private tea party in the Summer House garden.
A selection of sandwiches, scones and King’s Guard-designed iced biscuits were provided to guests.

because of his biological parents abuse

Yes, I have to admit this brought a tear to my eye too. Queen Camilla really does a beautiful connection to children and continues to show her character. What a lovely thing to do, and such an impressive young man Tony is!
I bet in a way these two had a much better time than being with thousands on the day they should have attended. Long live their Majesties.
This was probably even nicer for the children than a huge formal garden party would have been. They were able to have much more attention from the Queen, they had snacks that were perhaps a little more child friendly, have a short carriage ride and see the Changing of the Guard. Plus Tony had his award presented to him. They're not going to forget this day anytime soon. And Camilla is well experienced with hosting parties for children with disabilities. She's been doing one at Clarence House before Christmas for a number of years.

What an amazing day for two fabulous children Tony and Lyla. 👏I heard an interview earlier that Queen Camilla spoke with Lyla about books and Tic-Toc - Also Tony was going to receive his BEM at a local awards ceremony a few weeks ago. Everything was rearranged so Queen Camilla could pin the award on Tony's jacket...Lyla was also in hospital when she was meant to attend the Garden Party... her dad is a serving member of the UK forces. Such brave and courageous kids. Lyla O'Donovan has been battling a brain tumour since 2016.

I am sure Queen Elizabeth II was nice to people, just more reserved. That was nice of Camilla. I do feel for the disabled little boy, but he is a trooper! Perhaps he lost his legs to cancer or an accident.

Tony was so badly abused by his birth monsters that his legs had to be amputated. He is a wonderful brave little boy with amazing adoptive parents.
You can't forget that he raised over £1 million walking on his prosthetic legs for the hospital that helped him.
This was such a kind and thoughtful thing for Queen Camilla to do. We don’t hear enough about these small gestures which mean so much to the recipients.
