I've said it before and I'll say it again: I've said it before. That joke aside: I can only agree with Zirpatty. You're review is awesome and I love listening to it cause I didn't lose track although english is not my native language. If I were looking out for a router powerful enough to manage more than what I use at the moment I'd be defenitely going with the NIGHTHAWK X6 from Netgear! This is the part where I agree with you, Tree. WiFi Analytics puts together a lot of useful controllability I didn't get to see anywhere else included yet. Just the simple things like 'looking where the best spot for wireless connection is at' got me sold before even seeing the rest of it. Thank you so much for this much of insight for a better understanding how you're able to manage all the connections while being live 24/7!
Beware: the latest nighthawk firmware just kills the router both X6 and X6S. I have 300mbps connection and after FW update it crawled to 20mbps replaces with the X6S and while speeds are still okay 200 mbps plus, the availability of the router itself is dicey. Within a week 5 times it has been rebooted.
wow can i come live with you lol. The menu page where it show who's connected to your network can you click on the device and limit band width or disconnect them all together?
Drops WIRED ethernet connection to internet without explanation, but Windows will tell you you're still connected. Out of 300 plus reviews on Costco's website, over 50 of them are negative and mention this same issue. When it is working, it is fast and has great wifi range. Returned to Costco. Heads up- Costco's site does NOT allow you to update a review you've posted. It also will not allow you to add a new review, so you only get one shot at it, so take adequate time with the item before posting a review.
Most pathetic router I have bought for $250+. It is advertised as 800 Mbps and 1300 Mbps for the 2.4g and both 5g bands respectively. I have a 1000 Mbps plan and I barely get 20 Mbps on the 2.4g and around 320 Mbps on the 5g bands. Also the 5g band won’t show up on my laptop and won’t connect to the phones of the other people in my house. Only my phone connects to the 5g network. I’ve tried everything and nothing works. Idk why the reviews for this router are so good. I am extremely bemused and disappointed.
Sounds like you're getting scammed by your ISP. Use fast dot com, its owned by a non-ISP and will give you brief and useful data. Try it with both the router and without it, see how that goes. There is no way this unit can possibly hinder your Wi-Fi signal unless you bought a lemon.
Snee Chuc Idk what to tell you man. I bought a TP link Deco and I tested the speeds with the same Ethernet one after the other and I get my full bandwidth when connected to the deco. I tried all kinds of stuff with the net gear router. Reset it a couple times, tried different firmwares, and tried a bunch of settings mentioned in the forums and I finally understand that I got scammed by Netgear and I was waisting my time because I barely get 30 Mbps on the net gear router while I get 350 Mbps on the tp link deco.
My experience with this router could not be worse. Extreme buffering, slow connections on devices, dropping internet connection and sloppy response time from tech support. Would suggest staying away from this product.
Yes ANY router will work with Xfinity, but when you're buying a MODEM that's when you have to make sure that the MODEM you bought is compatible with your ISP
What's is your internet connection speed??! Besides the MS, unless you say how fast it is suppose to go, the speeds you showed us is completely usless. You have to tell us how many % you get out of your ISP connection on Wifi.... If your connection was 1gbps, and you get 200mbps on wifi its only 20%, that sucks. But if you got 200mpbs connection it would be 100%.. Id you forget about that??? How about signal performance and air obsticles like walls etc.... dude....why did they even give you this shit when you gave us the user manual....
Watching this 6 years later and I can't push my ps5 to highest traffic tier..lol love this thing. Netgear is my brand of choice.

Kimmer Dinger Thank you Kimmer! Appreciate the feedback :)
You're welcome, man! Keep up the good work.
Really good review Tree.
Good explanation of the utilities so they're understandable :)
Zirpatty Thanks :)
@@StreamerHouse . Will that router work with Comcast Xfinity?
hay i locking in to the x6
what is the real differanc in the NETGEAR R8000 NIGHTHAWK X6 vs the Nighthawk X6S R7960P - AC3600 Tri-Band WiFi Router

How about u do a real test review? All 50 simultaniously? Ur reviewing the genie more than the hardware

So you would recommend the x6 over the xr300 for console gaming
Is the yellow port at the back a WAN port?
Is the router still good in 2021??? Thanks
Yes,still a beast,I just got one.
so do you need a good internet company to stop lag or would a router stop it?
Candy Slime-Unicorn wired or wirelessly??
antione english both using wireless right now but Thinking of switching to wired for my console gaming to help with lag
Are the 4 ports on the back for Ethernet cables for different devices

He is bought! He got the router for free if he told us it's awesome
This is a 3 year old router and it's still on wally world's shelves...
Its garbage.
The router interface is bad and router unstabil
But you can't get these insane results without having a good internet company right? Who do you have?

uhmmm, it shows an IP address at around 3:45. idk if it's yours but that might not be smart
***** those are local IP's, thanks for looking out though :)
hahaha aye good good (:
StreamerHouse Can you survive Lizard Squad grade DDoS attacks? If you can then you've won life.
If companies like microsoft and sony can't survive them, I highly doubt a house of streamers will.
I really thought this was going to be gameplay of the celestial nighthawk
Eli Margetts lololol

Mine is dead in less than 2 months. I bought it during Black Friday (2017) at Best Buy. I don't recommend it at full price neither at 50% price.

The r8000 blows! It won't install the latest firmware and duplicates ip addresses causing massive headaches
Nighthawk only works with daily motion
Please tell me, why the fuck do you have 11 gaming consoles?
Nice ad
This router does not have the speed that it touts.
Tree?
Horrible router can't connect after every update
Anything Netgear is garbage. Crap firmware means crap router.
Don't buy this router
