Great. I couldn’t find the code to have it automatically connect to my router. When you showed the plastic covering the middle of the device, I noticed your code. Once I realized that was what the set up was asking for, I scanned it and it automatically connected. Thanks
I had to use my computer to complete my setup because it was easier than using my phone. I also had to reboot my modem to get started. I had a previous Netgear router, so this was an upgrade for me. One question: is one of the 5 GHz bands any better than the other? Is the performance any better on the 5G-1 or 5G-2 band? Thank you for your video.
Do I have to set this up initially plugging directly into the modem ? And after setup can I plug this into my other wifi router and use this as a separate wireless router for upstairs so what I am asking is can I go from my modem - then my modem plugged into my wifi 6 router and from my wifi 6 router plugged into this nighthawk router extended upstairs using an Ethernet cable. Beast ally this doesn’t need to be plugged into my modem I can plug this into another router
I have been searching for weeks and giving up each time but is it possible for this device to go into "Bridge mode"? I'm asking because alexa multiroom only works if all devices are on the same network. We have three routers. The main one (virgin media) and two of these. I'm unable to find the bridge settings that the manual suggests should be there. Some forum posts say its been removed yet amazon answers show people putting this in bridge mode. Many thanks!
hey im thinking about getting a new router i have a Nighthawk X6 R8000 at the moment but i am looking for something newer and better. I am also wondering if there are any powerful router out now that can take around at least a dozen devices being connected to it at once and still run smooth but if that's not possible or its something you would change in the ip website(like maybe idk making it so one or more of your connected devices is locked in the full flow of internet power.) thanks so much for having a great channel and vids and also for taking the time to read this and help me out. im open to you letting me which routers are the best. P.s. i dont really need to worry about WIFI for gaming because i have both my pc and ps5 Lan connected to the router.
Was wondering after the resent update was your device still working as the same? I was getting 940 mps Ethernet connection and 620 mps WiFi. After the update I’m getting 90mps connected and 50mps WiFi.
Great. Presentation I just had to return a 3200 because it wouldn't connect to the internet after 3 hours on the phone with Netgrar support the technician concluded the units WIFI was bad. When I receive the new one I'm going to follow your video again GREAT JOB. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
@George Glass I’ve got R8000 and mine is plugged straight into the house as well without a modem and I’ve had this thing for over a year set up like this.
Overall, good info and approach. A suggestion though. It feels like you have crammed 10 minutes worth of good useful information into a 24 minute video.
I’ve had mine for 2 years and have giga speed coming in but once it hits the router it only puts out around 300 megabytes. Why? It’s been like this from day one. Thanks for any help.
Same issue for mine.. My 500Mbps package can't achieve the speed that I paid for and can only get 200-300Mbps download speed. Even with QOS disabled and connected with LAN. The ISP engineer also puzzled and finally test using his wifi router to test and immediately can get 490Mpbs of download speed. Strange with the latest firmware update this is happening.
I have Netgear R6900 AC1900 router hooked to my Bec mx210np 3G/LTE modem my isp Bravado Wireless uses Verzion towers Walmart where I live didn't have this router 😭
Mine keeps reading not connected, I tried everything for 2 years grrrrrrr, I get to the page on loginn. login. But I can't get it connected, what else could be wrong?
Can someone confirm whether this router is worth buying? My normal ISP speeds are pretty shitty and are looking for a boost just for my phone, Xbox and Computer.
I would recommend you do. You get mu-mimo and is worth it. I'm considering the x6 because I can get it used for about $100 and you can't beat that lol.
When buying a used on what do I need to do dont want someone else to have the info and some how get into my system.. sorry not very tech savvy when it come to things like this
Yes it works with out a modem I'm using the one below this model but having netgear send me a new one because mine is not working right after a year so I'm glad I have the extended warranty.
I thought it was just me! I have this exact router plugged straight into the wall and I have WiFi throughout the house. Was having trouble with my NAT while trying to game and that’s what brought me here.
If you don't have the router because you you threw it away, but you remember the old routers SSID and Password. This can be another work around is to use the old routers SSID and Password for WiFi.
This was helpful. I had set up my Nighthawk years ago but could not use it because I had an AT&T router/modem combo. I cut AT&T because I was tired of being raped for over $300 a month. Had Spectrum installed today for half the cost. So. My Nighthawk was a little different than yours.
I would not recommend this to anyone it keeps disconnecting, wifi as well as wired devices. I called support and they want to charge me more money for a fix that they caused. I should be able to plug in set up and no issues. This is a scam, they caused issues with there updates then charge more money to give you the resolution to your problem.
This is a POS... no matter what I did it capped my speeds at 100Mbps. Lots of people on the Netgear forums had the exact same problem. And you don't need a modem from fiber ONT. Best solution... avoid at all costs!
He walks you through the steps. clear and easy to understand.

Step by step. Very good. Do you recommend to disable the wifi on current modem/router
This is much faster than using the app, I spent 3+ hours trying to figure it out, this video helped me out a lot, thank you!

Were you able to figure it out? I'm having the same issue with Alexa. AP mode adds different channels so a bridge would be helpful

So I just got mine from Offer Up. I started the process but don't see the Netgear network under the list of available networks... suggestions?
Update: I did a hardware reset by poking a needle through the tiny RESET hole on the side. Booyah!
Did they ever fix the hardware fault. I bought one of these it was crap. They were all faulty. Had something to do with the main chip😢

Good things to have for wifi stuff thanks for sharing new friend
The light on top of my router are red ... I remember them being green ? Are your light green ? And how can I solve this issue thanks
I use mine as both I do not have a modem. Mine is the nighthawk r7850. I have fiber optic so my comes in by a ethernet cord right into the router.

You might need to upgrade your modem.

I am having trouble, I keep losing the 2.4 ghz channel and I can't get some of my lights or cameras connected to my system.
I have Netgear R6900 AC1900 router hooked to my Bec mx210np 3G/LTE modem my isp Bravado Wireless uses Verzion towers
Walmart where I live didn't have this router 😭
From my findings, I see that this router doesn't have a "Bridge Mode" feature. Can you confirm this? or is there a workaround to this?
I'm having same issue
Mine keeps reading not connected, I tried everything for 2 years grrrrrrr, I get to the page on loginn. login. But I can't get it connected, what else could be wrong?
You can reset router by using paper clip. It will reset to default settings and you use the login and pass from the back of the router
How do I get rid of double nat on this exact router
Can someone confirm whether this router is worth buying? My normal ISP speeds are pretty shitty and are looking for a boost just for my phone, Xbox and Computer.
Is there major differences between the Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200 and the AC4000? Should I just pay the additional $30 and get the AC4000?
I would recommend you do. You get mu-mimo and is worth it. I'm considering the x6 because I can get it used for about $100 and you can't beat that lol.
@@thiskid691995 Where can I find it used for that price?

Do you need that white box if you have internet box and service
I've been using this router without a modem for about 6 months now. I'm not sure how?

@@decarlobarr9397 did you have to get a modem or it works fine without ?
Wont play games on my xbox says there is a double nat problem
what do you do with the blue ethernet cable from the direct tv - that was plugged into the spectrum router
Just read what type of ethernet it is. Probably a 5e

It's really not as easy as it seems. I was on the phone with tech support for over an hour getting things set up and they're still not 100%
will the internet be slow at first?
what was your internet speed and upload ???
Does Eric really know what is going on or following the manual????
This kind of help so ima do a video of what I did
can i just plug my ethernet into the router?
This was helpful. I had set up my Nighthawk years ago but could not use it because I had an AT&T router/modem combo. I cut AT&T because I was tired of being raped for over $300 a month. Had Spectrum installed today for half the cost. So. My Nighthawk was a little different than yours.
Looks like a Spider-man.
Would this work with a spectrum Modem?
Yes it does. Just reset your modem after connected.
What kind of range does this have.
whole neighborhood range lol
We have the same desktop background

Yes 100 %..... it's a scam.... just factory reset it.... use a paper clip and re download all the info off the back or bottom of the router
God bless you.
Does anyone also have dns issues with this router?
Does this unit have a IPVanish VPN option?
It does have a VPN option.
@@michaelsmith5583 But is it IPVanish... think I'll head over to Best Buy and talk to those Geek Guys! :-)
Anyone know why I can’t connect 90 devices on the router?
You can only connect 50 on this model.
Change your DHCP client settings from the default 50 to 150
Has anyone tried to setup vpn express on this router?
My password do t work

You must be on a good one.
You don't need a modem if you have Verizon fios : )
hey does this router have internet without the modem? lol
Literally explains it after the first Minute😐
"Password is Password"
they can change it
