Thank you for the comment! Created in WA :)
I know it's been year since this video but thank you for guiding me through the process.
Glad it was helpful!
Just checked the connection speed of my Nighthawk R6700 and guess what? 72Mbps!!! I'm still shocked. I just changed the settings of the wireless card and got almost the same speeds as yours. Thank you buddy.
I'm happy to help! I hope you can feel the difference in speed.
Thx for great content. Much appreciated.
Thank you for the comment!
I have one of these arriving in a few days. This will help. I thank you so so much.

I bought the netgear 3.0 modem and this router not that long ago. No problems of any kind. My internet is very fast and no lag or buffering while streaming.
best review on youtube. thanks !!!

Happy to help!
Great video any tips on doing on imac as dont have windows pc
you can set up your device using browser of any device. mac doesn't have such precise wireless settings like PC but anyways it should work at its maximum speed.
Great video, just wondering if you have any feedback on setting up VLANs with this router?
Thank you for the comment. There's no problems with VLANs everything works flawlessly. This router worth every penny. I'm gonna make a video soon on how to create FTP/virtual disk, basically your own cloud storage which you could access from any part of the world. And it will be based on that router.
So my internet doesn’t use a modem, our internet worked fine with just a router and some other thing the guys installed but i now bought this it says everything connects but some pages just straight up don’t load or chrome tells me that it cant provide a secure connection. Any tips?
this is my router and it is so good
The direction of the antenna is not that important, just look at any laptop for reference. It's more important to know how long it is and what kind of db 👍. I got this router used for $50 because it had one broken plastic housing that holds the antenna. Did not affect the performance of this model 👌
Any info how to do this on a Mac.
Awsome review. Do you mabe know that this router is compatible with smart home system such as SOMPHY, ALEXA, GOOGLE HOUSE, Apple Home etc ?
Thanks! Haven't tested it with SOMPHY yet...
Good video for those settings.. I got outta box at the Max speed setup tho !! I got this one at 20 bucks..
Thank you for the comment!
@@ElectronicsComputers Thank you for sharing those settings
I just ordered this one. I currently have a Nighthawk 7000P... setup should be a breeze right? Will it recognize my current WiFi SSID? Is it better to use all three bands separately or as one (how I currently have it setup). I appreciate your video.
All 3 networks should have different SSID names. For example in my case I left only one 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks. I connected my laptops, Xbox consoles and 2 smart TVs to 5GHz network and the rest of the stuff (printers, smartphones, tablets) to 2.4GHz network. Also I configured 5GHz network to shutdown after 2AM and turn on at 6AM. The setup process of that router is pretty simple but don't use their app to do it.
I bought this but network key is scrapped off how can i use it
Those settings are more valuable than the review of the product! But i dont quite understand why those arent already the defaults on adapter properties? Why is that? what is the risk of making the changes you are recommending? is the more significant change at the router or on the windows wifi adapter settings?
Like almost all devices this router comes with average standard settings. If you want to get more out of it you adjust some specific features, just like you adjust your screen to your liking, or custom tune your car to get more performance or fuel economy.
hi,
I’m trying to enable 2.4 Htz but still disabled even if it is clicked! ☹.
same router 4000. please help
Hi, I am wondering if this router can be a complete replacement from my isp router (verizon fios, now known as ziply)
If you have a coaxial modem then yes, you can use this or any router you want. If you have a modem/router as a one device then you need to contact your ISP and ask for a modem.
So im new to this, what if im hard wired straight to the router? Do I still have to do this to get the speed for hard wired?
You must connect this router to the wired Internet otherwise it's not gonna work
I don't want to ask stupid questions but I can use this with an eternet cable with it my netgear modem router combo
Technically, you can plug into this router any Ethernet cable that provides internet connection and it will work flawlessly. So you can use Nighthawk X6S with your netgear combo modem/router.
Has any had any connection issues like not connecting to the 2.4 ghz or WiFi drops..or gotta reboot the router..
Never had any issues with it. Actually, one of my printers has some connection issues but not sure yet if it's printer's or router's problem.
how does one get the full bandwidth of there network from router to switch to pc. I get 750Mbps (speedtest) from modem to pc but get 140Mbps from modem->router->switch->pc and don't know why. router is Netgear Nighthawk x6 r8000 and switch is Netgear GS108
new to all of this was wondering if i need to hook this up to my houses main router to get wifi or if i can just plug it in my room and put the ethernet intpo my PC
you have to plug Ethernet cable from your modem or ISP into this router to make it work. You can also connect it tirelessly to your main router.
I have this router but it’s hard to updated even manually I don’t recommended people to by this
I don’t have my router near my morden is there a way to connect to internet from my modem to the nighthawk ? I have the same nighthawk as shown above in the video
Is it just a modem with Ethernet out or a modem with built-in WiFi router?
Okay so I got the router today and.. uh I’m kinda new with this stuff so I connected to to everything buuuuut it won’t work like the internet.. like I JUST have a router do I need anything else with it to work??
connect the Ethernet cable which comes from your modem or switch ot whatever from your ISP and follow the instructions on this video.
do i need an existing wifi or does this create its own
of course it creates its own WiFi networks.
I have spectrum 500 mbps I have this router they increased my speeds free is it recommended to factory reset router when speeds change
Using cat 8 modem to router
I need help with the first part on a MacBook
same process for all devices. It doesn't matter in what device you open the browser with router's webinterface.
Where do you connect the enternet cable to
That cable comes from your ASP's switch/router or whatever they have.
Can this be connected with Verizon Fios ONT box?
Sure! Just plug the Ethernet cable coming from that box into the yellow port on your router and simply follow my instructions.
Is there any way I can turn off 2/3 connections. I don’t need 2.4
Sure! Go to Advanced-> Setup->Wireless setup. Finally uncheck this option Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n)
Can I achieve this same speed with spectrum 500 mbps plan? Using their modem but this x6s ac4000 router? Are they even compatible? Thanks
Yes, you can use this router with their modem. Your speed will be about 450-480Mbps.
Should i enable smart connect?
If you don't know WiFi specs of your devices and what bands they can use then go ahead and enable that feature. If you know that some of your devices only 2.4Ghz capable and some 5Ghz then you can connect them to your 2.4 or 5Ghz networks without any problems. Smart connect very often connects 5Ghz capable devices to 2.5GHz network so it's not that "smart" connect.
can this work if you live out in the country??
It can work by itself without any problems but you can't use it.
Dude I just installed the x4s and I get 200mbps (my max ISP gives) everywhere in my house except my room on the top floor. Literally everywhere is 200 except my room it struggles to connect. Will the x6s be better for this
In the video I was talking about the speed of physical connection between the router and other devices. It's not about ISP speed . My internal network via that router provides stable speed of 800Mbps when my ISP provides only 100Mbps. It's different things. The problem is when your ISP provides 200Mbps and your router gives you only 75Mbps or 150Mbps. I have a big house and covers all rooms with WiFi connection speed from 400Mbps up to 800Mbps.
@@ElectronicsComputers how big is your house in terms of sq ft? Also do you get issues with wireless wifi if you go outside your house?
@@ElectronicsComputers I bought the x4s extender. I get full 200mbps in my room now lol. All worked out eventually
Do I have to plug this to the router? The router is in the living room and I want to keep this one in my room. It doesn't have the WPS button that other extenders have?
This router doesn't support Wireless repeating. So you have to connect this router with an Ethernet cable which goes from another router, switch, your ISP or whatever.
@@ElectronicsComputers Thanks! Would have preferred to have wireless repeating like my netgear ex3700 but this seems like a really good product so I might just use my 25 ft cable
So you need a computer to set it up? Can you use your phone?
You can use any device with web browser which can be connected via WiFi to your router.
Why should I leave the enable router pin option off. Will that disable the pin for connecting to the network? Shouldn't I have this on?
When the PIN feature is OFF that feature is completely disabled and you can use it. When it's ON you can connect to your router not only by using your WiFi network password but also using a PIN code which can be easily hacked.
@@ElectronicsComputers Oh right, thanks for the clarification! 😁
Is this act as an WiFi extender also becuz price high
No! it works only as a router, Access point and the bridge. If you need wireless extender buy a dedicated device from Netgear.
To make this a device an extender of an existing network, would I just need to name the wifi name the same as the existing network?
No, in that case you'll also need to connect those routers by cable, which isn't convenient. You have to use the repeater mode. You just need to connect your router to your existing network and that's it.
I just installed this router and am experiencing quick fall off just 11 meters away. I live in a single level apartment. Is there anything I can do? I replaced an AirPort Extreme thinking it was outdated but it supplied signal to my security camera devices at the front and rear of my apartment. This router isn't even reaching the security cameras.
try to play with antenna position and also with some features like: BEAMFORMING, MU-MIMO and make sure that the output power is set to maximum.
Which modem do you recommend? I have xfinity
I would use any of these: MOTOROLA MB8600, Motorola 24x8. Both provide speed up to 1Gbps which Comcast supports at the moment.
I disabled this setting an I could not log into my Xbox 360 so I changed it back.5:00
I changed my settings and my 5ghz is still only at 433mbps. Is there something else that could still be slowing it down?
What's your WiFi adapter model or the device model that you're connecting to the router?
2013Electronics&Computers just looked it up, it’s a Intel AC 3168 which has a max speed of 433 so that solves that lol
That's right it's 1x1 adapter. But you can easily upgrade it and get Bluetooth5.0 and wifi speedup up to 1.3Gbps. I have a video how to do it. With links to buy brand new intel adapter for 15$
ua-cam.com/video/RiA2dPedCSs/v-deo.html
I don't have all the options to select in my computer that you are selecting. I'm so frustrated.
What's the model of your laptop or it's a desktop computer?
Is it still good router to buy ? In 2023 ?? Please let me know....
Edit
in my country used one price is 70 dollar
Yes, it's a very reliable router with very good coverage and speed.
If the power adapter is not rated for 240v DO NOT USE IT ON A 240v circuit, as you may damage the power adapter, the device or both.
Very often it's absolutely the same power supply whether it's rated for 240V or not.
Idk what it is but I just bought this and my speeds stayed the same. Its running 114 mbps on download and 0.14kbps on upload. Like my connection is absolutely terrible
Go into the web interface of your router then click Dynamic QoS and then click Take a speedtest button. What speed do you get for Download and Upload?
Does this router support wired connection?
of course! it has 4 gigabit ports
@@ElectronicsComputers thank you
....hi....any idea what's it's cost in India?
Not sure... check your local shops or find out how much shipment will cost you from Amazon.
is this all i need to get wifi?
Yep!
Can I plug in Ethernet to it?
Sure! This router can receive internet via Ethernet and also provide multiple Ethernet output connections. Additionally, it can function as a repeater. For instance, you can connect it to your neighbor's Wi-Fi and broadcast it to your home without the need for any wires.
Please netgear nighthawk ac4000 can I used it as modem
No! this router requires a direct Ethernet connection from your ISP or from your modem.
@@ElectronicsComputers thank you so much
Hi… I followed your steps but my 5G network is coming at 200 mbps and my 2g network is coming at 70 mbps
What's the model of your laptop or whatever you're trying to connect to your router?
@@ElectronicsComputers I used a MacBook Air 2020
I'm scared to death to buy a new router! Every time I look up one that is supposed to be really good on Amazon, the Reviews are terrible! I need one that has long range for a large home!
I got two of these one at home and another one covers a huge office building. I can even go like a hundred yards/meters away from my place and I'll be still connected to my router. It never froze I never had any issues with it. It manages a whole bunch of laptops, tablets, printers and phones without any problem.
It's a good router but know this before you buy it. It does not allow you to monitor your bandwidth usage by device.
If you mean bandwidth usage by every single connected device then I doubt such router exists.
Why does my WiFi not work?
you can't see your networks or what?
2013Electronics&Computers it works but idk why the router is slower
I would not recommend this router to anyone, it keeps disconnecting devices. Even though i went threw the set up process properly. It continuously disconnects wifi as well as wire connected devices. I call support and they want to charge me 60 dollars a year for how to fix the issue that there device is causing. its suppose to work out the box but they want to charge me more money for a problem that i didn't create. I will never buy netgear again. They make problems so that they can charge you more money to fix them. Its a scam.
I have several of those working at its limit in a business environment with dozens of connected devices. And we never had any issues with those routers. Try to hard reset your router and update its firmware.
do not get this router, it's an absolute piece of shit! lasts less than a year for over three hundred dollars! Mine died exactly 11 months after i bought it new, and netgear refused to honor any warrantee, told me i was on my own. The culprit? I restarted the piece of shit. You can't restart a nighthawk, itll break the device.
Would this router work with hughesnet ?
Sure! Simply connect it to your satellite modem.
