- Simpson oil: amzn.to/3f7wO7i
In the future I will likely just use Rotella: amzn.to/3n8Nb7O That is what I use in my diesel truck and always have it on hand.
Changing the pump oil on a DeWalt pressure washer. It is very simple to do and often neglected.
I bought this pressure washer because it had the Honda motor and learned after the fact that it has the best pump motor as well. The Simpson pump is the best pressure washer pump you can buy.
Have now used this to clean house siding and it performed well ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX I also bought some wand extensions which enabled higher washing without needing a ladder. I recommend both. This unit arrived quickly, was easy to assemble (only had to attach the handle), and arrived in perfect condition. The only very slight downgrade from a perfect score is the design has a low handle and requires pulling from the side. My old washer was an upright model, while this one is more horizontal. Other than that, it's perfect for my needs. It has a great deal of pressure and more easily cleaned the house siding, porch rails and concrete than did my older model. The engine is a bit louder, as well, but the total time to clean was reduced by the more powerful spray. Did I mention it starts on the first or second pull every time?!! I am definitely happy with this model.
Nice this showed me that the red plug was a half turn plug which was great but the plug was installed at the factory for shipment only and you need to install the vented plug that comes with the pump. This is what was explained to me that if you leave the shipping plug in it could damage the pump because it can not vent when the pump heats up.
Great video, thanks!
Thanks Bryan! Appreciate the help.
Excelent video thanks
thanks for the video
Super helpful!
Some people put 80/90 gear oil and some shops say you can smell it when you service the pump and that the pumps with gear oil have the longest lifespan.
Personally that seems too heavy of oil to me
If I'm not mistaking that red cap is for shipment the yellow one you are supposed to replace with
Yeah, already covered that below.
I know all about that red cap now. Too bad it was after I burned my first pump up lol
The pressure washer should’ve come with a black color cap that is supposed to replace the red one. The redone is not breathable and it can destroy the inside gaskets of the pump.
Yeah, I’ve answered this one a couple times, it didn’t. Was lost in shipping. I put a pinhole in it until they could send me out one. I have a breather on it now.
Updated the CC captions as well to reflect this.
@@BryanHansencan you please drop a part number for that oil cap please
The reason why I watched this video is to see how you took out the red oil plug on the water pump because my pressure washer has the exact same red plug and also came with a yellow plug just like the red plug,I know that it twists when twisted but it does not come out when I tried to pull it out,I have been able to see that it is not screwed in but plugged in according to how you put it back in so what surprises me is why it does not want to come out when I twsit it in between the middle and try to pull it out.Can you please show how you took the plug out or just explain how you did it.This pressure washers are not cheap and I don't want to do anything that will get it grounded. Thanks for the video and I look forward to hearing from you.
Literally turn it a quarter turn and pull it out with some needle nose pliers. It it not made to come out by twisting. It is a plug and not really threaded so just pull it up and out.
@@BryanHansen Thanks so very much,I really appreciate your time.
Every 100 hours change all the oils after the break in of course, Get after it.
super helpful, thank you
I thought triple A pumps are made by Comet, an Italian company
Is 15w 40 diesel oil? About to change my pump oil, but can't find the Simpson brand so I am guessing I can use any brand with the same viscosity?
Yup. 15-40w rotella or any diesel oil for that matter.
@@BryanHansen thank you very much!
Hey thanks for the clip, I did exactly what you did here, I was using it the other day, and I checked the glass oil measurement thing, and I’ve notice that the oil turned black. Is that normal?
Totally normal and one of the reasons for the sight glass.
Amigo o óleo da minha tá subindo quando ligo a máquina é vaza pelo respiro e pelo eixo que conecta o motor com a bomba
A Dewalt snob!😂
You know it
The aluminum oil drain plug is aluminum and my plug is beginning to strip!
Where do I get a replacement plug, asking for a friend. Thanks
I’d call Dewalt
❤
I put the whoel oil jar it came with and didn’t come out the front like urs shoudk I go get more
I would
Where should oil be in sight glass when properly full?
Halfway up.
EXCUSE ME WERE YOU GET THE BREATHER CAP FOR THE PUMP.
Comes with it or you can get one direct from dewalt.
How long for the first oil change time? Thank you!
On the engine or the pump? I did the engine after the first few times I used it. I did the pump after the first year of using it.
@@BryanHansen Thank you for responding 🙏
i just bought one and it came with 4 cycle oil for the engine, should i use the same oil for the AAA pump? i figured it'd come with both oils if it calls for a specific kind?
Nope. The pump and the engine definitely take different oils.
I have same unit. Do you have problems with it not sucking soap/cleaner? I changed the soap injector but it is still not sucking soap.
Assuming you are using the soap nozzle?
@@BryanHansen :-) Yes, my unit seems like it wont go into lower pressure mode. I intend to take apart the unloader valve and see if that's causing the problem. Just wondering if you have had a similar problem.
Did yours come with a little black cap that is supposed to replace a temporary cap? I thought it was the red cap on the pump, but I can't get it off.
It ships with the red plug and the black plug is used to replace it. You need to turn the red plug a quarter turn (counter clockwise) and then just pull it out with some pliers.
@@BryanHansen Thank you, I swapped it out with the yellow one.
Hey so I know it’s a different weight but what’s your opinion on using the BE sae30 mineral oil in those pumps, I’ve herd of some people saying it’s better quality and will make the pump last longer but the difference in viscosity concerns me
I honestly don't know what to think there. My guess is that the thinner viscosity wouldn't be good, but that is purely a guess.
@@BryanHansen fair, I wanna give it a shot but also don’t wanna gamble a $300 pump 😂😂
The pump seals are a joke mine started leaking with 30 hours of use.
Mine have been great.
@@BryanHansen its only a matter of time
So I bought a Simpson and put oil in it but when i try to turn it on it stared leaking where the air comes out it’s my first time using one any tips? Also since that happen I haven’t used in like 6 months I’m trying to use it again but idk if I can use the same oil or I have to change it ?
Out of the breather on the pump or out of the air filter of the motor?
hey i put in the 10w-30 that comes w the preassure washer by accident i put in a lil should i change all of it ?
You put 10-30 in the pump?
Colin Cowherd is that you?
Bryan Do you know where is the drain plug on the 4200
It should be the same location as in this video. Some do use a different pump. Do you know what king of pump is on yours?
Can I use a shell rotella 15W40 engine oil?
Absolutely!
@@BryanHansen im doing it right now thanks for the wisdom👍👍👍
Why didn’t you replace that red cap and put the oil breathing one it came with??
Mine was lost in shipping I have the correct breather on it now
Bryan Hansen Do you have a name/model number for the yellow breathable pump oil filler cap? Mine broke and I can’t find a proper replacement anywhere
@@tylerbredice1858 I would call Dewalt and they will just send you one
Hows that machine working for you?, in planning to buy a dewalt 3600 psi 2.5 gpm or a simpson same specs and same aaa pump... ehich one u think is better
I have really liked it. I was surprised how fast the pump oil gets dirty. Not necessarily a problem with this machine, it just has a big sight window where you can see it is time to be changed.
@Trey Camero halfway to maybe just a bit over half
Anyone have a link for the breather cap? I have a DXPW4440
Call Dewalt. They will send you a new one. They did for me free of charge.
