As a fellow 1911 owner, I'll give you a heads-up: John Moses Browning designed this pistol to be carried in Condition 1 Safe (round chambered, hammer back, slidelock safety engaged). I know you said you like Glocks, and while I'll admit that they're difficult to render nonfunctional and shoot great, I prefer something steel-framed. Because if I run out of ammo, and need to utilize the pistol as a 'blunt force trauma' weapon, I gotta know the thing will survive it

In all seriousness my favorite is my first, it’s a para ordinance .45, I bought it used and it was dirty! I also love my colt, but the first 1911 still remains completely accurate and faithful

Yeah but the G21 is better in almost every way possible. I will give that a really really good 1911 can hold up to a cheap modern 45acp pistol but not by much.
That’s why everybody always compares shooting a modern 45 ACP to a 1911, particularly the trigger. JMB was a genius the same way Mozart or Bach were, their creations are still timeless. 100 years from now people will have forgotten the pop stars and the polymer pistols of today but I’d bet the classics will still be played and 1911s will still be manufactured.
My favorite 1911 is the RIA M1911 A1 .45ACP I bought a few months ago. My first 1911 and first .45ACP. It’s not as pretty as yours Scott, and the slide is more like a thick jam than butter, but it happily goes bang every time!
Nice looking pistol. I can hear how smooth that slide is being a machinist. Nice tolerances. You should try the .460 Rowland conversion for that if they make a 6". I think you'll like it.
I have one in 9mm , made a little tune up but just what I do to many for myself & others . Mostly just polishing. Not really needed. almost as good as my Tac Opps 9mm SIG. but very well made. Got it in a Pawn shop for 500.00 , SIG more then double ! Most could not tell the difference in shooting them. I shot 20 yrs. Bullseye Comp. & more. Built 6, 1911's from parts on line & gun shows. Yes 1911 has always been my favorite !! Had many makes & sizes & Models.
Actually that's true. 45acp is a weak round, all things considered. That extra inch or two of barrel helps a lot with velocity and therefore energy dumped on target.
@@trashcompactorYT Weaker than a 30-30 rifle I guess. IV8888 channel shot the 45acp ball ammo from a 16" carbine and at 440 yards, it penetrated 2-1/4" worth of pine boards. Punched right through. Rated at 614 FPS and almost 200 ft-lb at that range and still hits hard. Momentum penetrates.
It’s crazy to me that Scott even has to add the whole “I like my Glocks” part all because as a gun UA-cam channel he already knows glock fanboys are gonna come out of the woodwork saying what about the G20 long slide blah blah. If you are a true gun guy you should respect and love all quality firearms equally. I love Glock, I have a G21, 45acp but I went with a Kimber for my 10mm.
I’m not a huge fan of them but I do own one. For me it’s the geometry of the grips. But as someone who enjoys shooting. I won’t tell someone to not buy one. I don’t own any other than that one but that’s my personal preference. I prefer sig, everyone is entitled to their opinion but don’t judge someone by what they carry. Just be hopeful they are proficient with it no matter the caliber.
Now, with a Titanium Firing Pin, a 26 pound main recoil spring and +10 % mag springs from Wolff Spring and you can also shoot .45 Super giving you ruffly 10mm Ballistics.
Scott always finds a way to pick up extreme guns and show them for our viewing pleasure 👍 And the watermelon looked like it absorbed more energy when he slammed it to the ground than being shot with 45 acp😂
5:46..LOL! I am just glad you were sent a great new version of the 1911 when alot of manufacturers simply get that platform wrong. I am familiar with the gunsmithing feel of a perfectly made firearm you are talking about. That is truly an amazing feeling when you simply hold the firearm and cycle it as well as shoot it too. Alot of old handguns, rifles and shotguns have that feel. Great video, Kentucky Ballistics.
My favorite is my Kimber full size "conceal" 1911. All of the sharp edges have been smoothed down to allow for an easier draw. It gives the gun a very unique look and feel
Pretty amazing weapon! I was a squid from the 70's and 80's, and the colt(?) 1911 .45 cal. was the sidearm issued for shipboard security. My only complaint, was that they (the 1911 .45's) were probably from the vietnam war, and worn out pretty good. No target practice, just fam fire into the dirt berm (if you could hit it!). But yes, i agree, a six inch barrel would be a much more accurate and powerful weapon (especially if it wasn't 20 years old).
You probably had a GI grade 45 made by Remington in WWII. I have one of those that I don't think was ever issued. I can hit whatever I aim at with it. As long as it's taken care of and gets grease it can last a very long time. The problem is a lot of them weren't taken care of.
The 10mm Magnum needs to come back. That could be an upscale version of the AMT Javelina. Also, has anyone ever considered putting Skinner style aperture sights on a hunting pistol?
I accidently bought 10mm MAG brass last year when shopping for 10mm HUNTER I didn't know a mag existed: I wonder if I could rechamber a standard 10mm into a mag???
Absolutely. I'd put ghost rings on my single action hunting guns if I were not so gunsmithing-challenged. Someone somewhere dose/did make and market them but they don't seem to be all that popular. Big old red dots and reflexes, but no nice, neat, clean, trim unobtrusive peep. Maybe it has to do with eye relief...I bet Elmer Keith had something to say about them.
I love the 1911 design when it is built properly. This looks AMAZING! I had to pause the video because you had me actually laughing; the Soda bottles were 'shooting back'. AWESOME! :D
I have a Kimber .45 acp, one of the earlier models when they were still making them in Clackamas Oregon. I had a Bomar adjustable rear sight installed, which made it perfect for me. Puts nice big holes right where I want them. What more can you ask from a handgun?
@@cobblerama yes I have it, rural king has it for 409.99 and I love my RI full size 10mm and my compact size .45 acp I love my RI’s and they chew through any ammo I put theough

I'll confess. I really like 1911s. Yes I like modern firearms too, I'm not that Bomerish. Surprisingly one of my favorite 1911s that I own is a full sized Kimber chambered in 9mm. I bought it on a total impulse buy. It turned out to be accurate as all get out and it's a blast (sorry for the pun) to shoot. It's just one of my favorites. Take it easy man, and be safe out there. 😎
Bro I relate to this because I bought a R.I Armery full size 1911 chambered in 9mm after getting a better paying job😂!! Love that thing and might buy another in .45
I’ve got one in 9mm 5” bull barrel. Great pistol and he’s not lying about the action and trigger. Smooth no rattling and the factory trigger is on point.
Awesome, Scott. :) I've shot a .45 1911 recently, and it was awesome, but I personally own a RIA 1911 9mm. It's also incredibly smooth, and shooting 9mm in such a heavy package is an absolute dream.
Springfield Mil-Spec .45 ACP Wilson Combat custom is my go to, I’d put a heavier spring in your gun tho, soft springs don’t work well for recoil management.
I like the way you used a one handed grip there. I learned that way back in the 70s. I could rapid fire all 7 shots from my govt series 70 into a 7" black at 25 yards. Of course that was during my learning period of around 4k rounds. I used to reload 300 rounds at a time and head on down to the Police Range. I always thought the 1911 would be better with a 6" Barrel. Thanks for the Demo. I may buy one of these.
I once shot a ww2 era m1911 and that thing rattled so much I thought it would fall apart😅 It never did and I’ve been in love with them since. Thanks for the awesome video Scott!
Hey Scott what's up champ? AMAZING video! I didn't know that such a model existed until I came across your new video! I have to tell you that it is one of the most BEAUTIFUL out of all the 1911's I've ever seen, and I've seen MANY! It's just FANTASTIC! Plus the slide is so smooth, I just can't believe it! They did a thorough job on this one, an AMAZING piece of firearm! Thank you for letting us know about it! It was a GREAT video!
I have a regular Remington 1911. I can shoot it more accurately than my other pistols. I have a Springfield Armory XD 9 mm but it's double stack. The 1911 is single stack so my short fingers can grip it and squeeze the trigger more easily than my other pistols.
That's exactly what I noticed. I have a 6" long slide in 10mm with a much stiffer spring. Muzzle rise is half of that and my brass is around 6' feet away, not 10.
Yeah, considering how easy it is to rack, as he emphasizes repeatedly, it's probably got a way lighter recoil spring than it should so the slide is slamming back with some force.
That was a pretty cool 1911, I wonder how much more velocity you would get wit the extra inch of barrel, also where is the tactical T-Rex? Keep up the great work Scott.
I do have a question for you though Scott. How does it feel when the targets fight back? Since you asked, I am wishing I could afford to get a good 1911. Tough having Champaign taste with a Boones Farm pocketbook.

Yeah but the G21 is better in almost every way possible. I will give that a really really good 1911 can hold up to a cheap modern 45acp pistol but not by much.
Haha! Tell another one!
It’s at least the best looking pistol
That’s why everybody always compares shooting a modern 45 ACP to a 1911, particularly the trigger. JMB was a genius the same way Mozart or Bach were, their creations are still timeless. 100 years from now people will have forgotten the pop stars and the polymer pistols of today but I’d bet the classics will still be played and 1911s will still be manufactured.
Some American made things are like that ! and another is something the same age as I am , The B-52 !
My favorite 1911 is the RIA M1911 A1 .45ACP I bought a few months ago. My first 1911 and first .45ACP. It’s not as pretty as yours Scott, and the slide is more like a thick jam than butter, but it happily goes bang every time!
That's the nicest 1911 style gun I've seen since the Para Ordnance P14-45
Nice looking pistol. I can hear how smooth that slide is being a machinist. Nice tolerances. You should try the .460 Rowland conversion for that if they make a 6". I think you'll like it.
They DO make a .46!!
Showing love from 🏴 great to see you made a great recovery love the content 🤙🏾
I like how the shells fell in front of the camera just perfectly when you shot the car
How to make the 1911 better:
*Give it a bigger barrel*
Hey, size matters!
Actually that's true. 45acp is a weak round, all things considered. That extra inch or two of barrel helps a lot with velocity and therefore energy dumped on target.
The terminator made the 45 longslide so badass looking.
@@trashcompactorYT nobody wants to stand in front of one, though!
I own 2 Glocks and love them but I don't consider myself a fanboy, I love all types of guns
In total agreement
Now, with a Titanium Firing Pin, a 26 pound main recoil spring and +10 % mag springs from Wolff Spring and you can also shoot .45 Super giving you ruffly 10mm Ballistics.
Ahhh..... finally... An informed pistolero!!!
"Them Two-Liters are shootin' back!" I almost fucking died.
Scott always finds a way to pick up extreme guns and show them for our viewing pleasure 👍
And the watermelon looked like it absorbed more energy when he slammed it to the ground than being shot with 45 acp😂
Ohhh what was the price on that?
"Carry Melt"
Scott always makes my day! Thank you Scott!
Omg! I laughed so hard at Scott's videos, the soda 🤣 was killing me. Oh it felt good to laugh like that! 👍
I love the 45 ACP, and this 1911 is a gem 🔥
I do love the bul armory 191s. I have one in 5 inch and your right that slide and the trigger are like silky smooth butta!
".45 ACP. Because who needs the metric system?"
Me, as a Canadian: (Laughs in easy converting.)
Metric system is better, until it comes to firearm calibers.
Your conversion comes to 11.43mm?
11.4554mm to 11.4808mm
My conversion system:
Small bullet
Big bullet
Even bigger bullet
Soon as .357 Maximum comes back.
I love the 1911 design when it is built properly. This looks AMAZING!
I had to pause the video because you had me actually laughing; the Soda bottles were 'shooting back'. AWESOME! :D
That gun is a beauty.
There's just something about a 1911, truly an icon.
I think it's because "tWo WoRlD wArS!'
I love seeing some one thats used to 9mm And the first round they fire of .45 from a 1911 , its always " OMG " " A REAL GUN " !
Agreed 💯 percent
1911 is so pretty with the long barrel.
Springfield operator has been best in my personal lineup thus far.
Digging the new sidearm buddy
Have a trp long slide 10mm. Love it ❤
I have a Kimber .45 acp, one of the earlier models when they were still making them in Clackamas Oregon. I had a Bomar adjustable rear sight installed, which made it perfect for me. Puts nice big holes right where I want them. What more can you ask from a handgun?
Well you could ask for 15 rounds, Pic rail, and an optic cut
For it to put more holes in things.
@@TheLarzon pic rail on 1911 kinda throws the look off
@@TheLarzon yeah, you just must have an optic on a hand gun these days or it is totally useless.
@@LU-D1GITAL some manufacturers really botched it. Colt and Sig managed to figure out how to make the pic rail look good
I tested The Bul 1911, I purchased one, it’s incredibly smooth and modern while keeping the classic shape of the 1911.
I just picked up a brand new rock island armory 1911. And you simply cannot beat the quality for the price!
RI are pretty good considering what you get for the price.
@@rotwang2000 exactly. And with a little gunsmith knowledge and fine tuning, it’s super nice!

There's a lot of 1911s I really like but something calls to me at the moment- a mix of the Strayer Voigt Infinity and the AMT Hardballer Longslide.
Ive got a matched pair of 1st run desert eagle 1911s-basically the same gun with a 5 inch barrel. made by iwi out of Israel. they call themselves BUL now.... nice gun there Scott. mine are classic 1911 no pic rails but I did repleplace grips and do trigger work etc. for an off the shelf gun they are as good as any ed brown or other custom shop1911.

Dang scott that is one hell of a gun. Im glad to see that your getting better. God bless and a grate video as always
I could literally feel how smooth that slide was just by the sound. And that's on $hitty laptop speakers.
I’ve got one in 9mm 5” bull barrel. Great pistol and he’s not lying about the action and trigger. Smooth no rattling and the factory trigger is on point.
Awesome, Scott. :)
I've shot a .45 1911 recently, and it was awesome, but I personally own a RIA 1911 9mm. It's also incredibly smooth, and shooting 9mm in such a heavy package is an absolute dream.

Springfield Mil-Spec .45 ACP Wilson Combat custom is my go to, I’d put a heavier spring in your gun tho, soft springs don’t work well for recoil management.

@@jandevry3985 nope, here because Scott is a good guy and makes great video's
@@jeffreyhutchins6527 Yes
I like the way you used a one handed grip there. I learned that way back in the 70s. I could rapid fire all 7 shots from my govt series 70 into a 7" black at 25 yards. Of course that was during my learning period of around 4k rounds. I used to reload 300 rounds at a time and head on down to the Police Range. I always thought the 1911 would be better with a 6" Barrel. Thanks for the Demo. I may buy one of these.
Let's go Kyle!
Absolutely that is the Justice system finally working
I once shot a ww2 era m1911 and that thing rattled so much I thought it would fall apart😅
It never did and I’ve been in love with them since.
Thanks for the awesome video Scott!
YES !! I have my fathers 1911 from WWII !!
I was issued ( medic ) and carried a WW ll 45 in RVN . It rattled and shook , but fired everytime I needed it .
Ricardo,i have a Remington Randall 1911A1 maked in 1945 Is very accuracy no matter the age 77 years Is the correct size for my hand
Due to inflation .45 ACP is now considered 9mm...

I’ve gotta say, that thing has a lot of muzzle rise for a 45. Must be the light recoil spring??
It's a 10mm...
@@TheExplosiveGuy wrong. Go to 0:50
That's exactly what I noticed.
Just blasting the one liners in this video! You're appreciated. Thank you.
AMT Hardballer with 7" barrel. Always liked them since The Terminator.
I just mentioned the AMT Javelina in 10mm Magnum in my comment. I think they had a 7inch longslide available in the Hardballer and the Javelina both.
I had the 7 inch long slide from AMT, it was a POS.
I do have a question for you though Scott. How does it feel when the targets fight back? Since you asked, I am wishing I could afford to get a good 1911. Tough having Champaign taste with a Boones Farm pocketbook.
Rock island stays with same construction as colt and are pretty inexpensive vs Kimber etc
My favorite 1911 is the one that's mine! Sig Sauer stainless steel with Mitch McCormick extended 10 round magazine! Love that gun!
