Hi Davie, as much as I enjoy the tying instruction, I really hope you keep doing these fishing videos, they’re great.
Thanks Davie for another great day on the river Doon. Thoroughly enjoying your continued efforts 👌
Great video Dave. What I like is not just filming caught fish but real time fishing. Some guys say oh I didn’t show you this video because I didn’t catch fish. It is about technique, flies you’re using and reading the stream. Not catching fish. That’s why I can lay in bed and listen to the water and watch you fish. Not catch.
Thanks for having us along. Lots of fun. I'm really happy that the videos have progressed. Don't know how long I've been "subscribed" but I've been watching a long time. Learned and laughed a lot. You are a natural teacher.
Sometimes I can't help but notice the high winds you are caught up in on the River Doon. Sometimes folks don't realize what a struggle it can be with lighter weight rigs, but you seem to handle it well and just fish it. That's Life On The Fly.... "love your videos" and watch them often here in the U.S.
Hi Davie I do so enjoy your videos thank you for posting them on You Tube.
Another fantastic point of view video. I particularly liked how you showed what fly the trout took and the link you then shared how to tie it, there invaluable. Thank you so much.
Having just had my 4th detached retina and associated surgery. I cannot fish for at least 3 months, so you videos of fishing and tying will be my escapes. Thanks so much for taking me along!
Sorry to hear this Glenn, I hope you get well sooner than later..
All the very best Davie
@@DavieMcPhail Thanks. Just keep taking me along😁
A beautiful day on the River Doon! Very enjoyable video Sir. Thank you for sharing!
One of your less productive days but still an enjoyable video. Love how the change to wets worked so quickly, good call. Keep them coming, great for re-watching on non fishing days. 👋👋👋
Lovely. These are as excellent. Keep it up
Another great video Davie totally enjoyed it 🐟🎣
I already posted a comment it’s my night owl antics at play Davie 🦉🐟🎣😂
Another great video Davie 🐟🎣
Great video casting is superb aw the best big yin
Soft hackled wet flies!
Many thanks, Davie! 👍
The river looks well cared for. Great not to see litter. Thanks again, Davie. We really enjoy these videos.
Hi Davy , again a lovely informative video. That's a beautiful stretch of water your fishing. Its given me a boot up the backside to fish the River Nith which runs past my back door. Love your tyings as you'll know but these videos are great too. Thanks again.😊
Love when I see that you’ve posted a new Fishing video no better way to start the day with a cup of coffee and Fishing with Davie
Great video again. Loads of great tips for me . I’m amateur at best . Trying to master fly fishing for trout. Tight lines keep the information coming.
Thanks for the trip
I just can't wait for that salmon to finally bite.
Another good day. Fishing the pockets could increase the takes.
Thanks for another great video Davie. Out of interest, I assume the camera is a GoPro and some sort of harness?
Hi Neil,
I am using a gopro and it's on a chest harness which seems to work fine though the old arms can get in way at times..I'm glad you enjoyed the video...
All the very best Davie
Some of the fish I've had break me off still haunt me. LOL
Another great video Davie, thank you. I always think bumps and lost fish show you’re doing something right!
Out of interest, do you ever fish a weighted nymph on the top dropper to get your cast down further on bright days? I’ve had the same experiences as you this season with very few flies showing and wondering if that would help.
Hi Stuart,
I do especially when I'm fishing for Grayling, I hope to be fishing for the Grayling soon so I'll be fish this way...I'm glad you enjoyed the video..
All the very best Davie
Thanks for taking me fishing davie it's great. Do you know any history of that rock wall. It seems like it was quite a project. Good old wet flies they usually work. Tks again 😊
Hi @burtonbrocious171,
I'm glad you enjoy the videos and thank you for coming along with me..I did a wee search and found some history of the estate so I have attached a link for you to have a look..

Can you show us your hands while you make a cast?
Great video Davie, any possibility of doing one on dyeing fur for dubbing materials. I tried dyeing some possum patches and the skin disintegrated any tips would be great
Do you have the same leader thickness or du you use a taper leader, when you fish two flies at the same time ?
Hi Chris,
I was using 5lb fluorocarbon straight through with 3 flies and as well 2 flies just before I finished..
All the very best Davie
Thanks 👍 I'm going to try that setup next time. :)
Fun watching.
Hi Davie, love to see all those benches on the bank, brings joy to my old bones! Very civilised way to go fishing, not like the wilderness fishing that we do down here in the South Pacific. How much does this cost you to fish for trout and salmon? We enjoy a very low licence rate here and us aged old farts even get a special rate! Our Fishing Licence is quite simple:-
Non-Resident Whole Season New Zealand Licence Adult (18+) - $250
Resident Whole Season New Zealand Licence Adult (18+) - $145
Non-Resident Whole Season Taupo Licence Adult (18+) - $129
Resident Whole Season Taupo Licence Adult (18+) - $99
So two licences cover you for the whole country. Regulation’s obviously change for different areas, but you must agree this is a good deal for us anglers. No wonder Zane Grey called it Anglers Paradise. Cheers mate. Harera
