they were actually living off that "burn rate" of $45000/month in the world's most competitive industry, thinking that money would be replenished by sales - it was not.
This thing died quick. I couldn't find anything related to their company past an April 2011 article. And their website is dead. It takes you to a website seller's site.
I still see balmshell being sold, but the product looks very different. Maybe they ended up have to sell their brandname to recoup some of their capital...
He saw potential in the product. The product basically had already had 1.5 million dollar poured in to get into stores and do marketing. For for Kevin's perspective, he is basically spending 250k buying their whole business (if somehow the business survives he also wins). At the burn rate of 30k he probably can cut that further like to 20k or even lower, then that's chump change for Kevin. Like some other people said if they had another few years the cosmetic industry could pick up and their product could be a hit, and at that time Kevin could sell the whole thing out easily 5 or 10x his money
These 2 obv had all the privileges growing up. Rich family , pretty. Most people can't ask daddy and his friends for 1.5 mill to pump into their business idea.
@lululacanuck3824 I'm not suggesting they deserved anything as such ..just stating that they clearly had wealthy parents with wealthy friends and that most people would describe them as being attractive/ pretty.. Ie they had all the favours to start off wirh.

Every makeup company strives to make the user feel beautiful and sexy. These people are doing nothing unique. It seems like they took an average product, wrapped a gimmick around it, and spent way too much on marketing and staff for no reason. They have sales from the exposure, but it's just makeup like most other makeup. I think the brand looks cheap. Smart Arlene.

Yeah, giving away half the company and all the risk? Sign me up! They as much as said they can't find money elsewhere, and half of something is more than all of nothing.

Aren't they based out of Canada? Is it not nearly impossible to have a business survive in a socialist country without quickly expanding out?

The beauty industry started exploding in 2014 so they were simply too early. If this were a bit later, 2016, they would’ve had a guaranteed hit.
No one asked what the money is for? Is it not for marketing anyways to get more customers?
Dragons always contradicting themselves saying too many scews is no good, and other times saying only one product won't make money?
