  • In this episode of Behind The Sound on the Audi TT S with a CHAMELEON wrap, we go through the total sound deadening procedure.
Soundproofing is essential on every sound system build. The Skinz 3mm layer is applied throughout the vehicle, to help create a much better environment for the sound system.
The soundproofing sheets are a dense layer that stick with adhesive to the metal panels within the vehicle, to alter the acoustic properties of the panel creating less resonations when sound is played through any new speakers. The addition of soundproofing layers also helps reduce the road noise within the vehicle when driving along, due to the resonation and thickness of the metal panels within the car.
We also fully soundproof areas such as doors and the quarter panels, applying soundproofing within all 3 layers of the door - the outer skin, the central layer and the back of the plastic door card itself. On the doorcards, manufacturers use a combination of thin plastic cards that stick out from the panel, and foam sheets clipped in to the door, to act as factory soundproofing. As you have most likely heard within some cars with the volume, the plastic just vibrates and rattles. Soundproofing properly helps completely stop that.
If you would like more details on soundproofing, get in touch and we can talk you through the benefits, and how many sheets will be required to create the perfect audio environment in your car.
