Alot of sellers make fake "fullsets" aswell. They gather boxes or papers from other models. Its worth doing your research
*In the case of **_vintage_** watches, the only people who don't care about box and papers ... are those that don't have them. A full set doesn't make a fine watch any less amazing in-and-of-itself. However, it **_does_** make a vintage watch (accompanied by them) unimpeachably more prized by collectors.*
Valuable insight
In my personal experience people aren't just paying more for full set, but it's also an easier sell if you have the box and papers. I have also experienced that people trust a watch more to be genuine if it has them, however in my opinion it is a lot easier to fake a box and a plastic card than a full mechanical timepiece, but each to its own :)
Thank u a helpful video
Most welcome 😊
Would it be accurate to list a watch with a blank warranty card and missing it’s original literature such as the model specific instruction booklet as “new with box and papers.”?
Box and papers is very important for me when looking at anything less than say 10 years old. Older pieces - say 30 years a I understand that people weren’t so into keeping boxes and the papers.
To Bob’s Watches it is worth $1K, that’s how much they reduced their quote once they received my 16610. They are listing them on their site for $9-10K and my offer ended up being $6800 (after deductions for polishing, crystal replacement and 1 missing link). Kinda left a sour taste.
don't need any papers and boxes. i'm just enjoying my watch :-)
That's a great attitude. They're often a nice-to-have, not necessarily a need-to-have, and your personal satisfaction should be the first priority on the list.
They're worth what people are willing to pay for it. Honestly not that important, i rather have the real deal on the watch and no box and papers than the other way around.
It is sad that it has gone this route. People collecting them and not wearing them. Watvhes collecting dust in a winder or a watchbox. Just like cars being kept in a garage and not enjoyed and driven.
But that's just my opinion, so takenit with a grain of salt.
Cheers!
When you buy the watch you think it's important. Once you've bought the watch, you put the box and papers in the closet and never look at them again. The boxes are even annoying because they take up a lot of space.
Box and papers import to me. I don’t buy without
More important than the watch tbh.
Of course it matters. No fakes then. And better to sell. Is this reakky content dude !’ Try again
Box and papers can also be counterfeited or even bought genuine.
Thanks for the feedback. The question is not _if_ they are important or not, but rather _how_ important?
If some manufactures are now capable of making very-well made replicas, it goes without saying that papers and boxes won't be an issue.
The key is to buy from reputable buyers.
Please explain to me how a box and a plastic card contributes to being a watch genuine. It is way more easy to counterfeit them than a complete watch.
