Great video man! That being said, it rubs me the wrong way how auto manufacturers have seen that demand for trucks is way up, so they try and charge for every possible option - even things that really should come standard, considering the prices. Can’t wait for this chip shortage to get better and for the new tundra to hit the lots. Next year should be much better for truck shopping.
Got an STX with the FX package included, it is pretty sweet. Also came with the tow package. Kind of wanted the center console, but the XLT only came with it and that crazy gear shifter. Don't mind the jumpseat. Already used it to fit 6 people in my truck. Really wished for the LED instead of the halogen lights. I like the painted bumpers instead of all the chrome of the higher models.
I just bought a 2021 STX XL yesterday and it’s got the full center console. I think at my dealership I bought from with the options it had it was $42k total
Wow! They are going up in price fast. I bought the same truck in 2017. I bought it with every option available, except I had the 2.7 Ecoboost. Even had the FX4 package which is ($770.00). MSRP for the truck was $43,035.00. I had a trade so didn't pay any taxes and I paid about $36,500, and they threw in tinted windows, spray in bed liner and all weather floor mats. I kept the truck 3 years and had 0 problems. Traded it in on a Toyota Tundra TRD PRO.
I just bought that same truck, except I went with the 3.5 engine. I paid $46,595 out the door. Those rebates didn’t come fast enough. I needed the 13,800 lbs towing capacity. Overall I believe it is a good value for towing limits and fuel economy. I’m getting 23.8 mpg average without a load.
There’s no way I would try and tow that much with a half ton pickup, I don’t care what the “specs” say. Unless you bought a stripped down two wheel drive regular cab, it’s not rated for that much. A super extra 4WD is only rated for around 8000. And it’s not just about how much weight it can pull, you also have to be able to stop and corner with a load. If I needed that much towing, I would definitely go F250 or higher.
My dad has a 2021 Extended Cab STX with the 2.7 For a new truck, it looks great, and is pretty utilitarian. Has no problem hauling heavy weight in the bed. That's a great question - if I don't need the jump seat in the middle, I usually have the arm rest/ seat back down and there is a rectangular form molded in next to the cup holder that makes a good spot. If I have a rider next to me, I usually throw it up on the dash. This is because if I place it in the tray below the center of the dash, sometimes positioning interferes with my cell signal. There is no great option when you have a rider using that middle seat.
Can you say why you got the V8? It seems like a pretty bad choice these days. It's a gas hog and not the most powerful option. Also I'd personally trade off those 20's to get the center console!
I needed the extra seat so I wanted the jump seat, but like you would definitely not choose it if I had the option! The 5.0 is reliable, easy to maintain, and actually, the fuel mileage isn't that much worse than the Ecoboost. I have had a few Ecoboost trucks and as soon as you lean into the pedal, the mileage drops pretty fast. Plus, the general sentiment when this question comes up within F150 owners groups is that the 5.0 is more reliable and cheaper to maintain long term over the Ecoboost platform. I knew someone that had 140k on their Ecoboost and he replaced some of the rubber intercooler hoses because they were getting weak around 100k, might be good preventative maintenance.
Andrew I respectfully disagree. Ford reuses so many components from the previous model, there is no way this truck is 90% original to 2021. Maybe cosmetically, but most of the componentry they are using is recycled from 2020 or other Ford platforms.
Nice truck but not for that price. I just got a Ram 1500 Laramie. I wanted the F-150 lariat but not for the price they’re going at for the 2021 way too much for what your getting
No problem at all! They seem to work just fine although I only have about 600 miles on the truck. Went on a 2 hour car ride a few days ago and I asked the kids a couple times, no complaints. Previously I had a 2018 with the center console vents and IMO they didn't work any better or worse. I think there is enough circulation in the cab that it won't matter either way.
I believe it, there is a weird supply and demand issue taking place. Or at least there was when I bought this truck 6 weeks ago. At the time they would get a 2021 truck on the lot and it would be sold within 3-4 days. Not sure if that is still the case 2 months later or not.
Its amazing how much of a difference a 5-6 months will make - when we purchased, there was a limited supply and there were no discounts. Now they are running some more incentives and there are more trucks on the lot.
@@StarkeyProducts yeah incentives are gone now (as of may 1) and production is limited again due to semiconductor industry. Also not to mention the trucks that are on the lot many of them have to have their windshield replaced due to a recall. So they can’t sell them until then. The truck I got just had the windshield replaced prior to purchase. I bought the truck 4/29 when incentives were still available thankfully. Timing is everything
I had a Tundra down to 43K (before tax, title, license) with push button start and Apple Car Play. For Ford to want $5000 more is not worth it to me. I'll keep my 2012 for now.
Nice truck but just wait a little for a big transmission surprise !! l hope you enjoy the 1000 excuses that they are going to give you at the dealership!! Enjoy it
I’m seeing 2019 trucks with 40k miles going for whet a new base model f150 costs. New trucks are overpriced, used trucks are overpriced. There’s no winning.
Agreed we are still seeing the same here. The lots in this area (Central Florida) are still half empty - all vehicles are up at the front, no more full back lots.
I don't think it's a good deal at all. Ford sucks to work with. 47k, no LED headlights, no bed step, no bed liner, no tailgate dampener, and no remote start other than using your phone (which in my experience almost never works right). I wanted to love these trucks when I was shopping for my truck, but I found the 10 speed jumpy and searching for gears. The F150 is a pretty truck but it lacks things that should be standard at this point.
@@TexasMan77 .. but most of these things are basic features. Calling led headlights special or remote start and forcing someone up a model is wrong. I can see luxury features but not basic things.
Remote start option just shows how cheap ford is. Look at the cost of this truck.. They don't give you LED lights which should be standard these days and it has remote start but they do not let you access it without an app? You can buy a programmer for 150 bucks that will allow you to use your existing key fob. Ford is a rip off which is sad because I do like the trucks...
Agreed, basically a necessity. The dealership offered to Spray in for $500. The option costs the same if you get it from the factory, but I have never seen what the factory version looks like.
Starkey Products FYI, I am shopping for an XLT or Lariat late model used and called Ziebart to find out I can get a spray in liner for $450. I was told they do the work for the Ford dealers so am betting they get an even better price for volume. Bet they mark em up to the buyers. Surprise ...
@@StarkeyProducts I appreciate getting tips from others and on occasion can contribute. The guy at Ziebart told me he could sell me a bedliner or do the spray-on but if I was going to keep the truck a good while I would be better off with the spray-on coating. He says that the plastic bedliners trap moisture and the truck bed will begin to rust prematurely. The other thing I considered is the plastic is very slippery for items to shift around while transporting (like groceries for example). So am pretty sure I will get the spray-on type.
Ive always been an advocate of going gently used with lower miles.. Save thousands upon thousands and get more truck (ie higher trims, options) for the money... Let someone else pay those bloated New Vehicle prices. as soon as you drive it off the lot, its starts depreciating....

Andrew I respectfully disagree. Ford reuses so many components from the previous model, there is no way this truck is 90% original to 2021. Maybe cosmetically, but most of the componentry they are using is recycled from 2020 or other Ford platforms.
hey jason you still have it ?
Acabo de comprar una igual 5.0 no tengo nada de que quejarme me encanta mi 2022 F150
Nice truck but not for that price. I just got a Ram 1500 Laramie. I wanted the F-150 lariat but not for the price they’re going at for the 2021 way too much for what your getting
Where did you get the american flag by the dash? Mine didn’t come with that
Hey Mike - it came that way, how strange that your truck doesn't have it. Supply issue maybe?
@@StarkeyProducts
Hmm. I will have to look closely next time. Just got it and haven’t really explored in detail. Lol.
If you have the jump seat is there vents in the back for the rear passengers or do you have to get the center counsel?
To get the vents you have to have the center console. Otherwise, there are 2 vents below each front seat that supply air to rear seats.
@@StarkeyProducts Thanks for the reply. Do the under the seat vents produce much heat/ac?
No problem at all! They seem to work just fine although I only have about 600 miles on the truck. Went on a 2 hour car ride a few days ago and I asked the kids a couple times, no complaints. Previously I had a 2018 with the center console vents and IMO they didn't work any better or worse. I think there is enough circulation in the cab that it won't matter either way.
@@StarkeyProducts Thanks man appreciate the feedback
Would you believe me if I told you there is a dealership in Ga where the window sticker on the 2wd with less options is 51K
I believe it, there is a weird supply and demand issue taking place. Or at least there was when I bought this truck 6 weeks ago. At the time they would get a 2021 truck on the lot and it would be sold within 3-4 days. Not sure if that is still the case 2 months later or not.
I believe you. I searched 200 miles around me and ended up getting the 2020 stx for 35k otd.it was the last one on the lot and a courtesy vehicle
2021 Rust bucket
Great truck, great video!!
Y’all got screwed on price. I just just picked up the same exact truck for $43k out the door
What is the gas tank size ? Gallons 24-36 ??
This one has the 36 gallon tank 👍
Is there any rust showing already underneath the truck?
Not yet, but others have expressed concern about this. I will try to do an update in 5-6 months.
Was that from sitting in those lots for months?
Do you still live or like the truck?
Still a great truck, now it has about 4000 miles on it. No issues so far!
Ayyyyyyyeeee!!!! I love it!!!!
What is that little cut out thing above the 4wd switched?
That is the integrated trailer brake controller.
How’s the rust? New truck gets you a payment and rust:)
So far so good. I just looked and there is some surface rust developing on the rear axle/ pumpkin. No other areas though.
All née trucks have rust should have looked underneath before you bought it!!!
Too expensive! Need to come down 10k for this trim and so on
Those trucks have early rust problems... look at the bottom of your truck. Then look 3000 miles from mow
I heard that somewhere else...I'll try and post in update in 6 months.
How’s the rust ?
Nothing yet, I'll post an update in a few months.
No LED lights!!
Awesome color
Thanks - To me it is like primer that has been clear coated. Not sure how else to describe it, but I like it!
Lol just ordered one today. 49k before tax and title. Guess he couldn't see into the future.
I had a Tundra down to 43K (before tax, title, license) with push button start and Apple Car Play. For Ford to want $5000 more is not worth it to me. I'll keep my 2012 for now.
They haven’t changed the body style or interior since 2014 in a tundra. There’s a reason they’re cheaper
Nice truck but just wait a little for a big transmission surprise !! l hope you enjoy the 1000 excuses that they are going to give you at the dealership!! Enjoy it
So you didn’t negotiate?
There was a little negotiation, but unfortunately, when the next few guys are lined up ready to buy, you lose some negotiating power.
I don’t like the new mirrors 😭
I’m seeing 2019 trucks with 40k miles going for whet a new base model f150 costs. New trucks are overpriced, used trucks are overpriced. There’s no winning.
Agreed we are still seeing the same here. The lots in this area (Central Florida) are still half empty - all vehicles are up at the front, no more full back lots.
2018 grille and bumper setup looks way better still.
does anyone know about the standard drivers seat adjustability?
Only forward and backward
I don't think it's a good deal at all. Ford sucks to work with. 47k, no LED headlights, no bed step, no bed liner, no tailgate dampener, and no remote start other than using your phone (which in my experience almost never works right). I wanted to love these trucks when I was shopping for my truck, but I found the 10 speed jumpy and searching for gears. The F150 is a pretty truck but it lacks things that should be standard at this point.
Those are standard on certain models.
@@TexasMan77 .. but most of these things are basic features. Calling led headlights special or remote start and forcing someone up a model is wrong. I can see luxury features but not basic things.
48k for a stx? Ford can keep that truck. I'll stick with my 2016 5.0.
@Greg B how do you mean? I’ve got a 2014 stx with the 5.0 was thinking about getting this one
They need to make the 3.3 engine an option
why no bedliner? damn you ford
It’s an option.
If only $1,000 bucks would actually get you an extra 2 inches… I’d be out $2,000 😂
there is a $595 on the credit when you get the 20" wheel upgrade
DORK!!!
you paid 48K ? you got riped off my brother... in Texas that truck is 40K
Yes it’s like 38k here
2.7 well I'd rather have a 3.5!
I paid 36k otd before trade, mines not 4x4 and msrp was 45. yall got boned
Why would anyone buy a truck without any form of a Bedliner is beyond me
Agreed, basically a necessity.
@@MrIndyjoe Good to know, thanks for the information. I want to do something, haven't decided what yet.
These days, lightly used trucks are pretty much the same price, its insane.
Expensive
ALL trucks are marked up $10k..u could have paid $42
You missed one big thing !! The NEW 5.0 has a cylinder cutout (TRASH) GM , FORD has never been able to make it work right (WE'RE TALKING 40 YEARS OR SO!!!) PLUS THEY PUT A RUBBER BELT FOR THE TIMING CHAIN (MORE TRASH) MY 2016 5.0 gets from 19 to 26 MPG. AND NO PROBLEM LIKE THE ECOBOOST!!!!. COME ON FORD , YOU HAVE SOME GOOD ENGINES (5.0, 6.2 and the new 7.3 gas engines) (You finally have the 6.7 diesel that looks like it could be dependable like the diesel 7.3 was.) DON'T SCREW THESE ENGINES UP TOO !!!!!!!!!!
My 2012 3.5 has 235,000 miles and can still outrun a 2021 Chevy, 2021 Tundra and some new Fords!
