My teacher used to say that staccato in baroque pieces, originally written for the clavichord, is heavy rather than pointed. Seeing you play, I think I finally understand what she meant. Thank you :)
Most men day dream about being a sports figure, I wish I could be this guy!..what talent!...listen to this full volume about every other month or so...shakes my house 😂...then back to 80's hair bands...I'm aircraft mechanic and a "frustrated piano player," thanks for this video, and yes I know this video has been out a while. Hello from USA southern states
I imagine it was composed for harpsichord even before the invention of the fortepiano or modern day piano...I'm going to have to see if I can find the version on harpsichord I want to hear it...I love it on piano I can't imagine it being more beautiful than it is played on a modern piano like in the video..
+Fiona Xiao yeah, he is going for bouncing, those jumps are near impossible without damper unless you bounce them. It is a viable way for closing distances. I think it sounded great the way he cut it short. It really brought out the end when he used the pedal.
I gave it a go and report i successfully disliked the video. Personally, i like it, but since u asked, just this once i went the other way. Don't say nobody ever did anything for u.

wow, c'est la version heavy metal, ça.. grave, puissant et outrageusement romantique. ça change des interprétations habituelles, j'aime. (même si haendel n'a probablement jamais imaginé qu'on puisse interpréter sa composition comme ça)
This is a really interesting interpretation. What is the reasoning behind all the lifting and strong playing? Is it to make the chords tighter - less spread out in time? Is it hard or not possible to play similarly without lifting the hands?
I’m in the search for different interpretations of this piece. One sheet music I found asks for “sempre legato”, meaning no legato (combining of notes, using pedal etc.) for the first part. That can be one reason why he’s quite deliberate with his movements. Same sheet also asks for mezzo-forte, which means moderately loud. Could be another reason. Finally the lifting of hand is for using the gravity to speed up your hand and produce louder notes without your muscles getting too tired. That said, the second part before the variation is marked as piano, which means “more quiet” but seems he’s going as strong, or maybe I’m not able to hear the difference. Overall, I feel this is an interesting rendition and makes me think out of the box. I’m not educated on music at all, so please do take this information with a grain of salt. A big grain that is :)
You sir are a great pianist ... I always think when I hear you, you DARE to go in the dangerous ZONE of playing, you know you get critic, if you do it like this, but it is just simpley 100% true to play it like you play it ... ow my god, I admire your playing, in my ears, it is soo amazing Unigue how you bring the music, I love I really LOVE your playing sir, you are 1 of miljoens, so unigue, I L.O.V.E IT !!
omg wow a brillant performance, I am learning this piece at the moment and will now use this clip for inspiration. thank you kindly for sharing your skills.
really .. what a perfect version Sir ... wouw ... wish I had the sheets for it, just to know I can once going to begin with it my self, it just is a must to play this I think .. wouw
Dear Luigiperso, this is the French one, it should be on line at the end of this month: methode-bernachon.fr. But you need unless very small level of French to follow it. I hope next year we will be able to translate it in English. Best regards. Frédéric
Bonjour très beau et pas trop rapide comme j'aime. serait-il possible d'avoir une partition ; je souhaiterais la jouer sur mon clavier en grandes orgues (je débute !!!). Grand merci. Majestueusement ; christine
Would you be so kind to send me a link to That Tablature... Cant seem to find it ... only the short version... Thanks Keep up the good work ... You may want to try that on a Fazioli.....

Normally this piece is play on harpsichord

This is really good video quality for 7 years ago...
11 years now
How cathartic is it wacking those end notes put as hard as you can on the piano, that feeling on a piano of crescendo is life
ahhhh, in that tempi (perhaps a bit faster) my mother played it sunday mornings when i was a kid....and i loved it !!
Honestly, who could dislike this????
A little bit sharp on the jumps
