      The problem with the sunscreens is that I don't really feel that spending the money is going to result in any fun (in the way that buying makeup will) or in making my skin feel better or look better at any time in the foreseeable future (in the way that buying skincare will). The theory here is that it will help me to look better years from now, but I feel like my SPF50 Sunday Afternoons hats already are doing a very good job protecting my skin from the sun. However, if I could find a sunscreen that did not irritate my skin at all and that was not really annoying to wear, then I very well might use it. So that is what I am looking for in buying this stuff. And then reporting on it on this channel is a little side benefit. So we shall see! ❤

    Thank you so much for this! This has really helped me make decisions about what to go ahead and try. I’m going to get that Naked Sundays sunscreen. That’s great to know it’s available at target. Michelle Spieler of mature makeup master class highly recommends it and says it goes under makeup superbly.
    I’m going to order that RMS one that you said is meant to go over makeup for reapplication. I need something to replace the powder sunscreen I was using over makeup, which I found out has a sneaky booster in it!
    I have used that supergoop mineral matte sunscreen. It worked fine, but it had a very strange texture that was really hard to get used to. I would use it again if it were the only choice, but the texture was just not my favorite.

      @@lisapetrison-beautyreviews yes, Michele is very good! Have you heard about her mob beauty Collab? it’s a “French in 5” palette, a quick French-inspired makeup look! I also need to get her mob lipstick that she created, but I have way too many lipsticks right now, so I’m trying to wait until I use a few up before I buy more.:-)
      Again, thank you for all your hard work and research to gather this information and make this video! I am so, so grateful!❤

      Update: I received the RMS sunscreen and absolutely love it! I will be using it by itself on days that I don’t feel like putting on foundation; it looks lovely! My only complaint is that it comes in such a small bottle!😊

    I had a similar experience in that I stopped wearing sunscreen because I thought I was developing an allergy to mineral filters as well. Then I saw Lab Muffin Beauty Science's video on these hidden chemical filters being added (even to most natural/kids/baby sunscreens), and it made sense! Yes, the ones I had a reaction to did contain butyloctyl/tridecyl salicylate. I was even willing to pay more but high-end ones like Tatcha, Josh Rosebroook, SkinCeuticals... They've all added these boosters!
    I have been using the DRMTLGY tinted physical SPF without any issues. It is a bit too shiny for me, so I do not use moisturizer underneath, and I use a setting powder on top. I'm very happy, and now I use sunscreen again every day!
    I think hybrid/chemical sunscreens are great for those who can tolerate them, but my issue is when sunscreens are marketed as 100% mineral and they have these chemical filters/boosters added. It cost me time, money, skin irritation, and a few months of not wearing aunscreen before i found out what was actually happening. For those like me allergic to fragrance and with very sensitive skin, it makes finding products I can use more difficult when companies aren't transparent with their ingredients. Thank you for your research and honesty! Your videos are very helpful!!

      Thanks so much for sharing information on the sunscreen that has worked for you - hopefully I can give that one a try sometime soon. I totally agree with all your comments about the boosters. The fact that it is "clean beauty" companies (including Credo, Kosas, Ilia, W3LL People, Mad Hippie, Bloom Effects and Tower 28) that have been especially misleading in how they are promoting these products ie especially disappointing to me. I think that it's fine for companies to make sunscreens with these ingredients if they choose, but they need to be transparent about it! It's very disrespectful of their core customers' sensitivities and general health that they haven't been. 💗

    Enjoyed your in depth review on these products very much! I've been using Jan Marini Physical Protectant Tinted Spf 45 for years and enjoy it. The perfect blur and protection without irritating my skin and I would say an excellent makeup primer. Like you, I don't wear a lot of foundations & prefer lighter tints. Looking for that info is how I found your channel! ( Agree about the JRB WTfoundation's rose geranium oil.. ugh! but I still love the product when I want to look polished!) Recently I got the RMS radiance in lightest shade and am loving that since I live in a very dry and windy high desert environment. I can press that on my skin for quick extra protection before I go outside with the pups. I've also tried EltaMD UV broad spectrum tinted #46 spf and it's really thin & lotiony. I'm sadly using that on my arms now because I still prefer the Jan Marini product.

      Thanks so much for sharing your experiences! The Jan Marini product does contain butyloctyl salicylate and so I won't be using that one, but I am glad that it is working for you. I think that an EltaMD product was the one that Angie Hot & Flashy said did not used to have any sunscreen boosters or other chemical sunscreens in it but then they changed it to add that stuff. I need to look at that site again to see if there is anything at all that I can use. Thanks for your comments. ❤

    Naked Sundays is an Australian sunscreen sold in Australia, so it has SPF 50+ and also has a UVAPF of at least 20 as per Aussie regulation, which is rare for mineral sunscreens.
    Some of the med aesthetics brands like Alastin, Skinmedica, and Dermaquest also don't have hidden filters either.
    Any reason not to consider the Elta MD UV physical? I think the tint would be good on your skin tone. I used to love Elements but it was reformulated and now contains BOS.
    Thinksport also is pure mineral, but I think it's probably less elegant in its wear.
    TiZO and Cotz have primer sunscreens that are very simple but they are also veryyyyy matte.
    Most Japanese mineral sunscreen don't use boosters, but they're almost all very siliconey liquid textures and I'm not sure about the dispersion.

    • @lisapetrison-beautyreviews
      @lisapetrison-beautyreviews  4 місяці тому

      This one from Elta contains butyloctyl salicylate, which is a sunscreen booster that is an unapproved chemical sunscreen. If there is anything else that I am missing from the Elta site that does not have that kind of ingredient, I would like to know about that though.
      EltaMD UV AOX Elements Broad-Spectrum SPF 50
      There is at least one Naked Sundays sunscreen that does not list that kind of ingredient, and so I do want to try that.
      At least I am finding a lot of options now, but whether they will work out in terms of performance or irritation is another question!
      Thanks for sharing some suggestions. ❤

    Thank you so much for this helpful information. It’s so overwhelming trying to figure out which ones are safe. Have you looked at the Biossance spf 30? it is sold at Sephora and was supposedly reformulated this April. Have you tried this one or do you know if this contains any of those nasty chemical boosters?

    • @lisapetrison-beautyreviews
      @lisapetrison-beautyreviews  3 місяці тому +1

      I did buy the BIossance one and think that the ingredient list looks pretty good. I don't see any chemical sunscreens or sunscreen boosters in that one, and it is also fragrance-free. I have it listed with the other "non-nano" sunscreens and so that must be something they are claiming about it. I've also tried a few other products from Biossance in the past and have really liked them. So I will try to review this one soon!

    Intrigued by the Marie Veronique, and your thoughts on it!
    The Grown Alchemist SPF was thick and super glowy…. It was returned!
    The Le Prunier pilled in me most of the time, no matter how long I waited between steps.
    What’s your current fav?

    • @lisapetrison-beautyreviews
      @lisapetrison-beautyreviews  6 місяців тому

      That is useful to hear your reports about those sunscreens. You seem to have been attracted to a lot of the ones that have most interested me.
      The Grown Alchemist is out of stock on Credo, and so probably I won't look too hard for it elsewhere considering your experience. And i'm glad to have been able to get just a small sample of the Le Prunier to try out.
      I really gave up on searching for sunscreens after some bad experiences and feel that my SPF50 Sunday Afternoons hats have been doing a good job protecting my face. I do have some SPF foundations that i use as add-ons (over primer) on occasion. But now that i am being more selective in terms of ingredients, maybe i will find some that I really like. i hope so! ❤

    I was able to get some foundations and sunscreens as samples at Sepohora no problem, its interesting how something that looks so amazing on your wrists can take on a completely different character on the face where there are pores, veins, oils and wrinkles. I absolutely no longer trust any young make up influencer for anything lol, young skin is so much more forgiving. So absolutely all tinted products need to go through real world tests and samples are the only affordable way to do this. I do not have sensitive skin and actually wear both chemical w tinted mineral on top w another layer on my cheeks bc of melasma. I haven't found the Supergoop to work for me, but Ciele was very nice. I might pick that up during the sale.

      With foundations and concealers, and probably also sunscreens, my experiences with products are so much different than the ones reported even by women in their 40's! A lot of people do really like the Ciele one, though i am assuming it would be problematic for me because of the sunscreen booster in it. That is great that you are able to use it though!
