You’re awesome Bully. In the past year of watching and learning from you religiously, I’ve improved on bass so much more than I’ve ever had in my life. Youre a bigger influence on me, I’m sure I’m not the only one, than the big name artists out there. Being that you actually sit down to talk and show us significant things. Let alone a great teacher. You’re the MVP. Keep doing what you’re doing because we love it.

Andrew Gouche - His sound is instantly recognizable, his choices are superb and the man loves the Lord, having driven the groove on so many iconic gospel records.

Great video, I’m really impressed by the upgrades that Fender is doing. An American ultra is $2,300 and this one is 1,000 less. I know they has a top notch quality but this Player series is serious. 👍🏼👏🏼Flea is my biggest influence 👏🏼🇵🇷

I really enjoy your videos, Bully! This may sound weird, but I’m a new bass player. The most influential player for me is Charles Berthoud. He introduced me to solo bass, and I was instantly hooked. I even got the chance to see Victor Wooten play. Bass has helped me out a lot in life. I’m so grateful to the UA-cam bass community!!!

Bass soloing is fun, sounds amazing as well, for a beginner, don’t forget what our job is, to play basslines, that’s getting lost nowadays. Everyone is trying to be the fastest and play the most notes,

@@bassimprovjams3772 thank you for the advice! You’re right. Even though solo bass is really cool, my favorite thing to do is learning about chord progressions. I like to try to improvise actual new (simple) bass lines to my favorite songs… usually failing miserably but having a great time!

@@kitsvn no problem I didn’t want to come off as a jerk , hey go check out hobo depot channel Johnny Lee long he’s loved by bully and lobster I think you can gain a lot from Johnny, I love improvs as well that’s what I do actually on my channel if you get bored go check it out some pretty cool stuff on there, as long as your playing your never failing but learning something new, keep going, I’ve been playing 25 yrs and still have a ton to learn we’re all bets on the bass in this community, you’ll get like Charles just give it the time, there are a ton of videos on teaching how to tap and chordal progressions you’ll get there! Don’t get frustrated if you see people shredding the bass everyone started out just like you did, get your action as low as you can while it still sounding good and not buzzing if you need take it to a decent luthier and have him set your bass up and keep fresh strings on like at least once a month change them 🤘 if you need anything we’re all here to help homie!

@@bassimprovjams3772 thank you again Jeremy! It’s the awesome, experienced folks like you that make me appreciative of this community. I’ll definitely check out Johnny! I’ll subscribe to your channel for sure and avoid “boiling” my strings haha!

Yea just go buy some new ones lol even with low action your fingers will still build the strength needed to play to high of action will only show ya down, don’t get me wrong with the strings a little high you will get some more tone that won’t have any fret noise but there is a happy medium

For me it’s hard to pick just influence but if pressed it’s James Jamerson all day !
His at the time, unique approach, melodic sensibility, rhythmic dexterity and overall crazy groove was ground breaking and still contributes to the musicality of bass player’s to this very day.
So thx man for all you do and your contribution

I'm a guitar player who plays bass just for home recording, and I just upgraded my 90's MIM jazz bass to one of these.. I agree with you, there's something about it that can't be explained.. it just feels good in the hand, and it inspires me to play it (which a bass has never done before). Fantastic instrument

Adding on to that, the reason why I am trying to win is because I don’t have a good bass, I only have one bass guitar and that would be an Ibanez miKro bass. I mean, it’s fun to play every once in a great while but aside from that, it is so uncomfortable to play for me so I am trying to upgrade my setup with a bit higher quality equipment, thanks bully

I used to have an early 2000s MIM active 5 string Jazz Bass and I really didn't like the preamp on it at all. Turning up the bass control, even just a little bit, made the bass sound muddy and the treble boosted was really noisy. I left it set flat most of the time, the only adjustment I would make on occasion was turn the treble down or change the pickup blend. I got rid of that bass right after I got my US Stingray 5 back in 2009. I can tell from your video that the preamp in the new active MIM Jazz is much better. Noiseless and turning the bass up all the way didn't produce mud. Glad to hear they've made improvements to their active system. That bass sounds worlds better than my old MIM active Jazz 5 did!
