Yeah it was. I’ve been a big supporter of tcl and Hisense. Was able to get a 75 inch Sony x90k for $898 at Walmart this cyber Monday and I do really like it my tcl series 8 65 inch which I got for a $1000 at Best Buy 3 years ago does look better imo. It does have 60hz instead of 120hz which is really why I got the Sony… basically it impresses me as well in how tcl and Hisense have been able to kind of take over. Idk what there profits are looking like but if they can keep it going they are definitely gonna make Samsung, Sony, lg either leave or just only make high end tvs.
Honestly, my 2023 TCL QM8 has been AMAZING for the price and for my BRIGHT livingroom. I've been extremely impressed with TCL (and Hisense) over the last few years. Great news for all consumers - this type of competition is exactly what we need to see!
Caleb, you absolutely hit the nail on the head there with respect to that TCL sound bar. Under no circumstances should any company EVER put a high-gloss finish on the top of a sound bar. Nor should they EVER put any type of decorative lighting on the top of one either. Frankly, as smart as TCL is, I'm amazed that they even showed a bar at CES with both of those mistakes on it. They really shouldn't have (because we already know they know better). As a side note, do you know who clearly doesn't know better? Bose, of all people. Their new Sound Bar Ultra that just recently came to market has a high-gloss, piano-black finish on the top of it that simply acks like a MIRROR when placed in front of a TV (where most people are likely to put it). Yes, that's right. Bose let a sound bar of theirs go all the way out to market/production with one of the biggest "cardinal sins" that any soundbar manufacturer can make. It just goes to show you that even big, multi-million-dollar companies with tons of really smart people working for them can STILL make horribly bad mistakes.
Never ceases to amaze me how they keep designing pedestal stands or support feet without any thought for the soundbar or the furniture it might sit on. TCL put them on the corners of a 98 inch TV - who has a cabinet that wide. Others don't allow enough height to stop the soundbar interfering with the picture.😢
A thing with Chinese companies they be producing almost identical things difference being only names. Look at Dahua vs Hik vision security cameras, identical products across all their product lineup.
I love watching the new technology unfold. I've had a 2016 LG LCD and by the time my allows me to buy a new TV a few years down the road, it will look insane. 😊
Thanks Caleb. I used your review to buy my 2019 TCL 75 inch tv. Maybe it’s time to update to the 85 inch S class. Will eagerly await your review this summer.
Price is going to be the killer on the 115.. I dont know why a fancy speaker system is needed as most people buying it will have audio systems in place
Great job on keeping us up to date on the TCL's new release! Will the Q6 pro replace the Q6 or will they keep both? Would you have this information? Thank you!
In 2018 I bought the six series TCL 55 inch TV. The TV itself is great in terms of picture quality. The main issue and why I’m looking to upgrade is because the processor inside is starting to show its age. Also, I now have an Xbox series X and PlayStation five so I would like a TV that can support Everything those two consoles can put out. Maybe this year might be the year I upgrade my TV.
My main problem is that mini leds seem to have a high pixel response time so even though it’s a 120 hz it might still be blurry when playing games. No one seems to cover this with TVs like they do with monitors. And the mini led monitors that are out have bad pixel refresh rate
Good to see TCL catering for buyers that don't want very large panels. 55" is as much as my room can take. My only concern is are TCL as bad as Hisense when it come to firmware issues.?
I had my eyes on the 2023 QM8. Great to know they have a 2024 version. I can't wait for the review to learn about the improvements. I already know I'm going to get it.
@MarvinAdrielVillatoro IMO I think you should go with the 75. I went with a 65, and it looks big but only when the content is @ max screen. The blsck bars make the picture look smaller than the TV actually is.
I bought a 75" TLC that lasted less than two years before the backlight died. Talked around and found every friend I have with TLCs had the same problem. I'd love to look at a new one, but "inexpensive" is costly with this lifespan. Went back with another old favorite brand.
I literally have $0.58 in my checking account, and watch YT on an Obama phone. But! Im a subscriber because my dreams of being a millionaire, and owning a giant, beautiful OLED...is totally free (with commerical breaks). 😅
0:30 that screen shows the importance of a GLOSSY screen without significant AR coating when it comes to picture depth and deep black levels. Contrast is everything.....I'll take a mirror like glossy screen over AR coating anyday. And Don't even get me started on a Matte screen.....
I just bought LG c3 and it's got a terrific pic but the settings on this TV are very buggy so buyer beware. Also, I spent hours trying to figure out their entire earc system in order to get Dolby Atmos and let me tell you, it ain't happening unless you use their suggestions and or recommendations! It's totally convelufed! When I got done setting up, my setup panel read HDMI Arc not supported so at this point I haven't decided on returning it!
Every tv manufacturer needs to come out with 100 or 100+ size tv. Be it in full array, mini led, 2 oled joined together. Yes with supported resolutions and fps at 8k 60, 4k 120, 1440 240
Are you positive the S series this year will have a 98 inch size? All reports I have read say up to 85 inches. I need to know the answer so I can decide on if I should wait or just buy the 98 inch S550G right now
Hey Caleb. I'm a new subscriber from England, UK. Love what your doing. I have a new channel for you to try on all the TV's you test. It's called 8K Paradise. First try WILD WORLD DOLBY VISION | EXTREME COLORS [8K HDR]. It looks amazing still on my 2017 LG OLED 55 B7 and 2019 LG OLED 55 E9. I hope I can eventually upgrade to a 55 G4. Just wanna say, love what you are doing. The whole world is watching you. Thanks for what you bring to us.
Yeah that's a big problem and I doubt they improved it cause they tend to use VA panels. They should start using IPS/ADS panels like Samsung for their mini-leds.
TCL will lead the Television Industry in the Next 5years...they improve very fast, imagine You can get Dolby atmos/vision,HDr10+ , Qled and etc., in the same price of low end TVs from Sony, LG and Samsung.
I remember when Hisense used to make truly remarkable dog turd products. They've come a long way. Quality isn't there yet, like my bedroom TV's backlight failure. Still think better than current Vizio.
You're going to wait a while. I have a Sony X90L with some DSE issues and may return it at the end of Feb and wait it out. This years Mini leds look to be a step up in brightness and processing.
i not ready to one more expensive TV only brightness we have a lot of brightness to 85 Tv need improvement in the Paxils are 85 blurry from 2 3 meters away 85+ TV ned 8K boost paxils blurry
Will never buy a TCL soundbar again. My Alto 9+ Ray Danz will not connect with the wireless sub. Tried everything I found online to fix it and nothing. Just total crap IMO
Give it five more years. TCL and Hisense will dominate the 📺 business and Samsung will knocked to number 3 or 4 The samsung don't implement Google TV and Dolby Vision in their TV sets!!
Make sure to check out our unboxing of the TCL 115-Inch QM8: ua-cam.com/video/P-YAy_fBpt4/v-deo.html
Put a Q6 98" on your review list please
TCL and Hisense was the best thing that could’ve happened to the tv market. Forced competitive prices. Would love for them to enter the monitor space
Yeah it was. I’ve been a big supporter of tcl and Hisense. @@ayourmum8521 🤣😂
LCDs and OLEDs are super commoditized, so bang per buck can only get better. Life is good. =)
I had hoped to see some MiniLED monitor news this year, but it looks like it's all OLED!
Yes, and no because at the same time you are helping fund a dictator by buying their TVs. It's a double edged sword situation.
Honestly, my 2023 TCL QM8 has been AMAZING for the price and for my BRIGHT livingroom. I've been extremely impressed with TCL (and Hisense) over the last few years. Great news for all consumers - this type of competition is exactly what we need to see!
You got that right, got one in 85 for $1800, you cant f*n beat that
Nice, I'll get one in a day or two 85" for 2k. I can't wait

i'm convinced TCL and Hisense are the same company with different branding..
A thing with Chinese companies they be producing almost identical things difference being only names. Look at Dahua vs Hik vision security cameras, identical products across all their product lineup.
They aren't exactly private soooo.....
Yeah, the parent company is the Chinese government, at least partially
@@B_Ahmed1234 yes all big corporations in China are partly owned by the government.
I’m convinced like in any other market different brands actually share what they are working on with each other.
Not everyone has a big room to fit a 65”+ TV.
I’m really glad about the news of the 55” model, definitely looking forward to that.
This could be the one for me. The 98 inch QM8 2024 model. Time will tell! GREAT video Caleb. I can feel your enthusiasm !
I love watching the new technology unfold. I've had a 2016 LG LCD and by the time my allows me to buy a new TV a few years down the road, it will look insane. 😊
This is super exciting! Looking forward to these coming to market!
6:57 I agree! It feels weird having an 8k video camera on my phone but have nothing to display it on.
When is the qm7 and qm8 TVs releasing ?
Did you have answer?
@@hamodenashwan9731 Well According to reddit TCL has a March to May new model cycle for north America.
I wonder how the Hisense 110” UX will stack up against this TCL. 2024 will be the year of enormous TVs
115 inch TV is exactly what my room needs. 😮
Thanks Caleb. I used your review to buy my 2019 TCL 75 inch tv.

TCL is really catching up to Samsung and Sony. Their tvs look amazing as well
Anything on Roku’s new Pro Series TV’s and new remote?
Great job on keeping us up to date on the TCL's new release!

This year could be just named the Return of LED with every manufacturer taking LEDs to the next level.
My main problem is that mini leds seem to have a high pixel response time so even though it’s a 120 hz it might still be blurry when playing games. No one seems to cover this with TVs like they do with monitors. And the mini led monitors that are out have bad pixel refresh rate
Is it because you are confusing backlighting technology and panel technology?
Good to see TCL catering for buyers that don't want very large panels.
55" is as much as my room can take.

that one was 2300 nit and 2000 zones. this one more than double that
I’m glad I held off on the 2023 QM8. I’ll be ready to buy by the time they release this. I’m on the fence on 65” vs 75” in dedicated movie room.
@@tonypaca3015 I'm also interested to know how the processing of the zones improved. Response time, accuracy etc.
@MarvinAdrielVillatoro IMO I think you should go with the 75. I went with a 65, and it looks big but only when the content is @ max screen. The blsck bars make the picture look smaller than the TV actually is.
Great stuff mate, can't wait to see more of the TCL range, hopefully they hit the Australian market
When will the 2024 product offerings be released?
I currently using U8H 65 inch still going strong super bright 😂 my targetting oled for my next tv next black friday🎉
Was the qm7 a matte finish?

This QM8 or the Hisense U8N? 🤔
Either one of them will me by new TV since the Bravia 7 65 inch is 2300 usd !!
Any thoughts on the TCL Q550G?
Do the mini led work during gaming sessions to get that contrast or not?
I don’t think TCL is going to compete with Hisense on price for the large sizes. I hope they do though
I literally have $0.58 in my checking account, and watch YT on an Obama phone. But! Im a subscriber because my dreams of being a millionaire, and owning a giant, beautiful OLED...is totally free (with commerical breaks). 😅
Incorrect. For the TCL S5 (2024) their website shows that it's a 60 Hz panel in the 85-in class, not 120hz.
0:30 that screen shows the importance of a GLOSSY screen without significant AR coating when it comes to picture depth and deep black levels. Contrast is everything.....I'll take a mirror like glossy screen over AR coating anyday. And Don't even get me started on a Matte screen.....
i doubt they'll be available in germany. imma go for a C3 soon anyway, according to all sources that's a solid and sensible pick.

What about the q6 pro?
I’ve seen a lot of CES coverage from several different channels. I don’t recall seeing anything new from the UST projections world.
While your at TCL ask them why the QM8 wasn’t available in U.K.
it is weird that TCL gave 2024 versions the same name as the 2023.
QM8 gonna be hard to beat
Are any models running Roku?
Sony X80l 55 inch and TCL P635 70 inch, what would be the best choice?
The 98” flagship (5k nits) was sold for 5000€ on Black Friday, but in Europe though 😎 x955

After owning an 85-inch QM8, I can say that I prefer it over the Samsungs and LGs I own.
Does the TCL screen have a SD or HD content system up to 4K?

when are these out in the uk
Even I'm seeking answer to this question. Are they even gonna release it in the UK?
Honestly these TV's will leave samsung , sony and lg in dust looking at price pov
Once again it's going to come down to TCL and Hisense

And they probably won’t be out till the fall again while all the other brands will have theirs out well before summer
holy fk 20k dimmming zones do we even need oled at this point i think if done right this will be almost like an olen
that is 1 dimming zone for every 400 pixels holy moly
for 115 thats quite shit
They've done ZERO software updates to their 2023 models 🤢
