I travelled by train from Szeged (Hungary) to Malaga (Spain) in 1998 when I was 16. Budapest - Paris - Montpellier - Barcelona - Malaga. On the way back we even had about 10 hours for sightseeing in Paris. I'm 42 now and wouldn't do it again. :) But it was a great adventure with lots of memories.
Haha:)) understand i start doing these trips since i was 17, now around 15 years later im still doing it :)) but you did nice trips and as you said great adventure and memories are there, thats important
I did Paris to Malta by train and ferry a few years ago, but with a few stops along the way: Paris to Nice by TGV, Nice to Genoa by Thello (no longer exists, you have to change in Ventimiglia), overnight ferry to Palermo, local train to Siracusa and Pozzallo, then the fast ferry to Malta. This was spread over a week. The Catania-Siracusa and Siracusa-Pozzallo trains were both replaced by buses: one due to trackworks (planned), the other due to a lineside fire (unplanned....). It was a great adventure though!
That sound like a good trip too! Remember direct trains to italy without changing in ventimiglia. Overnight ferry to palermo sound interesting. Yes also local train to pozzallo doesnt run very often
I did many long train journeys before in continental Europe and must say I loved them. Yours was also great and I do hope that you enjoyed my country, Malta.
Did this journey last year the opposite direction, only took about 36hr from Valletta. (34hr planned). Siracusa - Salerno IC, there ICnotte to Milano and next morning to Basel to catch the Amsterdam ICE. In hindsight I should have left the Icnotte in Bologna and take the Munich EC train to avoid the delay and planned for 35hr. Sadly nowadays the Pozallo-Siracusa trains are not running anymore due to extensive track renewal work at snails pace.
Yes we had some delays on the way too also local train from pozzalo we couldnt take one way so at least one way we took it. Anyway its good journey right? Sicily and italy by train is amazing
I love a proveessive train journey. You didn't consider taking SBBs EC Girano service from Zurich direct to Milan? Would've saved a couple of intermediate transfers.
France and Sweden mostly use nuclear generated electricity. Zero emissions ( the waste issue will be ressolved for the most part in 20-50 yrs when Thorium generated energy plants are used ..). And still , fossel generated electricity is better than flying or cars ..

Thank you. We absolutely enjoyed malta! Its a beautiful country and we will be back for sure👌
I did a tour of sweden and norway. From stockholm to narvik to trondheim to bergen (via oslo) and then back to stockholm. Incredibly scenic!
Sound good! Also went to scandinavia but no as far as narvik. Need to go too looks scenic true👌
In one leg? Dubrovnik [Night ferry] Bari (Italy) - Rome [NightJet] München/Munich - Düsseldorf - Amsterdam. Also slightly less then 48 hours.
Yes sure in one leg. Your trip sound good too 👍🏻 how long was the ferry from bari to dubrovnik?
Putgarden-Rodby takes also a train. Germany-Denmark. That’s also europe.😊
Yes i took that ferry some years ago, but i heard its not running anymore. Didnt really look at it
also try doing london to cyprus by train and ferry if you can its hard to plan it out
Yes we want to do that one for sure. Already looked at it, so its on the list
Předpokládám, že to bylo někdy před létem, protože tyhle staré vlaky už na Sicílii nejezdí...
Ano presne bolo to pred letom. Pocul som ze uz nejazdia, skoda
@ Poslední ALn 668 na Sicílii skončily 18.4.2024, pak byly převezeny do Apulie a Abruzza, konkrétně do dep Foggia, Taranto a Pescara.

Yes it was planned, but we had some delays+in zurrich also, so we had to transfer to catch the next train.
I'm so jealous
I wanted to do this trip from Liverpool UK
But it was too expensive by train
Maybe Liverpool to Catania by coach then train to pozzalo
Check with interrail, can be cheaper. Watch out for train to Pozzallo it doesnt really run often and it may not fit with timetable for the ferry
Okay IF you are young. Of course apart from Switzerland most of the electricity is generated from fossil fuels.
