In these days of heightened security concerns at rail stations and coming in off the Eurostar from London via Brussels or Paris and/or via Cologne to Milan, I was a little surprised that there were no armed police officers or armed Milltary present - at major rail stations, I’m generally very anxious when travelling alone and I’m greatly reassured by the presence of armed officers at stations and on platforms
I understand your concerns. Traveling alone can be anxiety-inducing, and the presence of armed officers can definitely provide a sense of security and reassurance. I've noticed significant differences in security measures in the various countries I've traveled to so far. Despite these differences, it's always great to see efforts being made to ensure travelers feel safe and secure.
9:44 being Irish myself, I really love the Italian culture, customs, traditions, values and way of life, their commitment to family, respect and work ❤❤❤❤
Italian culture is awesome! Their commitment to family, respect, and work is really something-they have such a strong culture. Irish culture also has a rich history and wonderful traditions. Thank you for your comment.

Thank you very much from the Netherlands! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Italy is truly a beautiful country, and it's wonderful to share it with viewers like you. Hope you get to visit Italy someday!
Thanks! Greetings from the Netherlands! Seeing the train get on the ferry was amazing, especially watching the part where the train rails on the ferry and the mainframe get connected, for me than😊
Last April my wife and I traveled from Siracusa to Rome... But we'd arrived in Sicily in Palermo from Spain. Sicily's fantastic!! Greetings from Mexico
Thanks for sharing! I loved my time in Sicily too. I was also thinking of going from Palermo to Sardinia and then to Barcelona. Greetings from Yokohama, Japan 🇯🇵
Thanks so much! Riding close to the sea is what stuck with me the most. It was a beautiful experience, especially since it was my first time. The Excelsior class compartments sound amazing with their suite bathrooms. That would be a real freshing up😊
hanks so much! This was honestly one of my best train trips so far, and I’d definitely recommend it. Even without the private WC, the experience was so unique and enjoyable. Thinking back on it still brings a smile to my face😄
@@LetsgowithD Hello, we are big Fan of Traveling by Train. Maybe you can check our 2 channels: @Travel.Highlights and @Travel-by-Train as you can see we LOVE TRAIN.... 😀 Enjoy
The train journey is very nice but 20:45 is to long this train stops every station that makes no sense you depart at 20:10 and arrive at Palermo at 16:55 its more day train that a night train it will be better when I High speed train goes direct from Milan to Villa san Giovanni and then take the ferry (regional train).
This sleeper train is special because it takes its time, offering a unique and leisurely experience. There's also an option to make the journey shorter by taking the sleeper train from Rome to Palermo, which would take around 13 hours. Thank you for your suggestion! When I went back, I took the fast train. It went a lot faster and I also liked that experience.
Thanks for pointing that out! I had no idea it was a memorial for fallen soldiers. The architecture looked lovely from a distance, you can't miss it. Appreciate the info.
Exactly why don't they construct a bridge between Sicily and the main land the distance is just only 2 miles or 3 kilometers this compares to the bridge that connects the Crimea with the Russian mainland which is 12 miles or 19 kilometers or the Chunnel that connects the United Kingdom with France which is 32 miles or 50 kilometers thank you very much and enjoy your afternoon
They've talked about building a bridge for a long time, but it hasn't happened yet. It would definitely make the trip shorter. On the other hand, it's kind of special that it's the last train ferry in Europe! Thank you 😊
@@wkaemena So I am in no position to properly assess that as I am not an Environmental Engineer but rather a lawyer by trade. However similar claims have been put forward in the past regarding other infrastructure projects and thus an environmental impact and feasibility study should be carried out to foster a plan with the least possible adverse environmental impact. There are of course ways of constructing the bridge in a proper and sound manner. Thank you very much and enjoy your day
It’s a great pity that more of these ferries were not built, as this would allow sleeper passengers to board an overnight sleeper train at Hull, Leeds or Manchester Victoria, travel to Liverpool or Birkenhead and go on sleeper services to Dublin (North Wall) for the 8 hour crossing across the Irish Sea - the current SailRail options from Manchester Piccadilly via Chester, Crewe or Lladnuo (change trains) and Holyhead to Dublin is exhausting and the rules around this on the Welsh Railways need to be dropped - it would be even better if such a ferry was to use one of the freight lines around Dublin Port to finally arrive in Dublin Connolly or Dublin Hueston
I agree, having more ferries like the one from Villa S. Giovanni to Sicily would make travel much easier. It would definitely be more efficient and convenient if such a ferry system could be implemented more for routes like the one you mentioned. But maybe in the future, it will change if it gets more popular in Europe. Sometimes I read articles where I get the feeling they want to focus more on trains than airplanes for the environment. The railway system in England is new for me, and I'll be taking some journeys there in November.
Interesting! Which sleeper train in Japan are you referring to? My wife and I will be going to Japan in September or October, or are planning for it. Thank you for your comment!
@The22esimoQuartiere Unfortunately, I didn't see that option when making reservations. Otherwise, I would definitely have chosen it. Maybe next time! 😊

Looks like you had a great trip. And some very good food.
This was one of my favorite trips. Loved riding by the coast. And the food, especially the ice cream, was one of the best I had so far. Thank you

Good video D! Lovely shots along the sea.
Excelsior class compartments are the top category. They contain an en-suite bathroom with sink and shower.

10:12 are Olive Trees
Thank you for clarifying. That was also my first thought.
At 12:59, this is the Santuario di Cristo Re (Shrine of Christ the King) can be seen there. Fallen soldiers from the world wars lie there.
Thanks for pointing that out! I had no idea it was a memorial for fallen soldiers. The architecture looked lovely from a distance, you can't miss it. Appreciate the info.
Did the A/C cool the room enough to sleep?
Yes, the A/C cooled the room enough for a comfortable sleep. After departing, it got cooler in the room and worked really well throughout the night
@@LetsgowithD Thank you; that was really helpful!

Any facility like a bridge for cars would flood and destroy the country

Rispetto agli omologhi treni giapponesi , questo treno notturno italiano di " Prima Classe De Luxe " è veramente modesto . !!!
