I just bought a Glock Gen 4 ,pretty impressive . Here in the US where I live ,I have no restrictions on real guns ,carry ,conceal or just out in the Desert target shooting ect... These days real ammo has been hard to get ,so I started collecting and shooting airguns . My buddy has a reall Glock 17 Gen 4 ,the BB gun version is so close . Your video inspired me to buy a Gen 4 . XDM will be next .
Thanks for the review Andy. I bought one of these in black from a reputable company who I won't name because I think there is a basic flaw in the design. The one I bought has 2 faults. 1) It leaks the co2 from the cartridge seal in approx 10 mins..you can actually hear it. 2) The field strip down doesn't work. With regards to the leak I think what is happening is that when you tighten the co2 up it cuts into the seal causing a leak. I followed the manufacturers instructions and applied some silicone oil to the co2 cartridge to protect the seal. I did not over tighten. I basically think that the friction on tightening the co2 cartridge twists it which cuts the seal. I tried and checked 4 co2 cartridges. The cartridges were ok with no burrs etc. As for the strip down not working...I give up! Hope this helps. I will post an update when I get a report from the warranty return report.
Sometimes for me, it's all about the feel and experience and not the power or accuracy. I put this gun in the same category as my Umarex Colt SAA. It's so satisfying just loading it and cocking the hammer that anything else is just secondary. Great review!
Thank you for the comparison to the Glock 17 gen 4. I have been looking at the both of these for quite sometime. I wasn't sure which one to buy, I plan on buying them both to add to my collection now. Thanks for the review!
I do own 4.5" version. I like the feel of it, but pistol didn't last unfortunately. The one I have is replacement of the one which broke after 4 weeks. Something broke off inside trigger mechanism and blocked trigger completely. I did get replacement, but this one started to "falling apart" after 4 months. Firstly, field strip lever broke off (so to strip it I have to use pliers to turn the locking mechanism). After that small piece of cast iron fell out from inside. After stripping I found small bit missing from barrel mechanism. It still works though, however I am not using it anymore. Got myself Gletcher Colt 1911 Operation Overlord and Dan Wesson 715 pellet with 6" barrel ;)
I'm glad I read this, so thanks! It seems a few air pistols have build quality issues but unfortunately most reviewers don't even put a tin's worth (500) of pellets through it before casting judgement. 😕
It's based off the airsoft model in 6mm, just now in 4.5mm. Most of these replica air pistols and rifles are, the airsoft ones have no problem going through beer cans etc.. and often shred them faster than 4.5mm bb plus you get the joy of full auto on many pistols too. I used to scowl at the thought of owning a 'plastic ball shooting toy' but since my first experience of shooting a GBBR on full auto (H&K 416C), the realism of the replica, feel of the blow back and decimation of the can in 1 second flat sold me; I don't even play (too old 45) but out of my 80+ replica guns in my collection 95% are airsoft including a lot of sniper replicas but that's another rabbit hole to go down....
Good to know.. I have also decided to go for some airsoft pistols. Usually look better than then stell bb versions and have mostly full blowback. The P320 military version or the tan FNX look great and are airsoft pistols. The Shadow 2 looks great, the steel bb version..
My god, after all these years, finally. You called it a slide and not a top slide, fantastic. Great review as always, love to someone who so obviously has a real passion for shooting and collecting.
Having owned an actual Springfield XD40, I must say that is nearly exactly like the real thing with the exception of the lockout safety. Very impressive.
Yes, totally agree, it’s about realism and build quality, especially for BBs which I don’t really go for, just bought a Colt 1911 my first BB, don’t really care if I never fire it , it’s a beautiful gun.
They get more realistic every day! On another matter, Andy, what about a review of rifle lights for vermin hunting? They are getting smaller and more powerful and more expensive.
Lovely to hold and use but shoots low easily overcome with a laser. The big problem is the aluminium female thread where the co2 capsule goes with a carbon male thread is way too easy to cross thread then it’s £60 for a new one. Also watch the takedown pin mine fell out and I was lucky to find it.Apart from that I love it
Hi David. I have that very same situation with 2 of my airsoft replica's. One of them I put a laser on. But how do I dial that in correct? When plinking, I aim for dead center. But the shots come out way too low... Thanks in advance!
@@robtimmerman5269 hi Rob I found the easiest way to set the laser load 15 bbs shoot 5 at at a time from a rest lowering the laser which will lift the barrel.hope this helps
I actually bought the XDM compact and have mounted a reflex sight to the top, really looks the business and shoots a lot better as the open sights seem to shoot quite low.
Nice review as always but, on this occasion I will forego the opportunity to add yet another BB pistol to my armoury - there's a limit to the number of birthdays one can claim in a year. The comment about being first in the queue to buy the XDm - was that a dig at me for nicking the HW110 Grey Laminate that you had your eyes on? Nice piece of kit, you would enjoy owning one, I can recommend a good dealer.
Hi Andy , enjoyed todays review . Thank you . wow yes a fab pistol , some great features . Will be buying , after seeing this review . take care Simon ......... York
Very good video, but I just can't bring myself to like anything BB. I use a Crosman 2240 for target up to 30 yards and a replica revolver, also ·22 for fun and closer shooting. The 2240 is mightily powerful as I'm sure you're well aware, and, to be fair, my replica's not far behind it. The range is certainly there, but it falls a bit short on accuracy, being a much shorter barrel. It's not easy to find good quality multi-shot pistols at ·22 but I keep looking. I do have a ·177 Schofield, which, although it's smooth bore, is very good with pellets. (Much better than BBs). Keep the videos coming, they really are extremely good. Clear, precise and with a great message for the most important facet of shooting - safety.
Would like one of these 4.5s in black-silver. Not just gotten myself to it since they do not bring anything really new to the game except for the looks of the model. They do look good - and the blowback has gotten it's praise before. This 3.8 in the video did shoot as low on target as my Glock 17 gen4 did when I bought mine. But I do prefer my blowback USP over the gen4 G17. My blowback USP though did not shoot as low as my G17gen4 or this reviewed XDM. But all of the airpistol replicas mentioned above are pretty effin awesome and well built. Oh man. I love these Friday 9am coffee breaks.. Especially with a new AAR video featuring a co2 replica pistol. Got about 25+ co2 replica pistols myself and I do love most of them. A big thanks to Andy amd crew once again! 😊👍
You helped me make my final decision to purchase the Glock 17gen4 which I love. This however doesn't do it for me. Great videos though, very interesting and full of all the right info.
Good gun overall, but if I had one criticism, the magazine is nice, but it's made from aluminum. The threading gets damaged really easy if you're not careful. Tighten the retention cap/screw with your finger in the correct position as far as you can go before using the hex key.

Hi Andy, great review as ever! I have seen the Crown land Baba Yaga Co2 pistol, it looks awesome and I am sure that many of us would like to see it given the AAR treatment. Keep up the great work.
Good informative video again. Thats looks a belter of a pistol. It looks nice, a true replica of the real steel, built like a tank... But it could have done being a bit more powerful. As you said its not one for knockdown power but i would want it makin holes in tins and hearing how quick it hits the target from when you pull the trigger. All the best from lancashire.
The package behind your target is marked 'Handle with care' and you send ball bearings hurtling through it at high speed - did you ever work for the post office?

Yes, it mimics real glock. Originally Answered: Why do Glocks' barrels tip upwards when the slide is locked back? That is a patented part of the cycle of operation and is attributed to John Browning. The tilting barrel allows for minimal slide travel and mass required for the pistol to feed and eject reliably.
Nope, it doesn't work like that. Adding more volume of co2 just adds more volume of co2. I mean, putting more petrol in your car doesn't make it go faster, does it? CO2 produces ~900psi, more CO2 produces ~900psi, for longer, so you just get more shots, not more powerful shots. The only way to increase power is make the projectile seal in the breach (so use a pellet, and chamber it) have a good tight seal between the valve and the breach, (so drop in mags and revolvers don't work so well, but bolt actions do) and have a longer barrel, so the CO2 has more time to do more work in expansion. Basically, if you want a powerful co2 pistol, buy a bolt action with a long barrel, like a CP1 or CP2, 2240, etc. Semi auto and power are working against each other here.
@@engineeredlifeform You might want to speak to Umarex about this, given they have designed their new CO2 pump action paintball marker purposefully using two 12g capsules in order to get it up to 12flbs. Yes, more volume doesn't automatically mean more power, but it's about being able to support a valve and injection system that provided more power with each shot and not have the gun run out of puff after just half a dozen shots. So, yes, there's a very real argument to be made about using more than one CO2 capsule to support an increase in output power.
@@StrathpefferJunction Nope. I have a QB78 in .22 which uses two CO2 bulbs, and it shoots about 9ft.lbs on a good day. The Crosman SBR uses two CO2 bulbs, and shoots at about 2ft.lbs! The Umarex 850 uses an 88g CO2, surely, with all that CO2, it must be really powerful, if your ideas are correct? But no, it's about 10ft.lbs, maybe a little more. So, the new Umarex paintball marker, 12 ft.lbs you say,... did you not stop to think that at .68 calibre, the projectile presents a lot of surface area? And that given PSI is 'pounds per square inch' the more inches of surface area a projectile has, the more force is applied to it? And given paintballs are quite light projectiles, they can be accelerated well, and given ke=1/2mv^2 that also works in favour of deriving a decent muzzle energy? It's NOTHING to do with the volume of CO2 available, and if you thought about it for even a minute, you'd realise this. They are multi shot, so only using a fraction of the CO2 each time, so what difference does it make in your head, what that fraction is? Also, I said in my original post, 'does your car go faster when the petrol tank has more petrol in it?' NO!!!!!!!!
I can't speak for the airgun versions but the real life counterparts the Gen 4 Glock of any model of caliber is better in every conceivable way than the XD.

Surely a manufacturer could produce a semi auto pistol with a double co2 bulb, meaning it could then produce 6ftlb ? 🙏
Anyone know of a laser that could go with this
Yip got to get one
Anybody got the XDE version?? I am needing a replacement magazine and don't intend to pay 26.99 for the mag and 7.99 in shipping
Nice gun, but too big hassle to reload and load new CO2 cartridge in humble opinion
I can't speak for the airgun versions but the real life counterparts the Gen 4 Glock of any model of caliber is better in every conceivable way than the XD.
@Adolf Hitler Of what mine furrier?
