@@DiariesofaMasterSushiChef does marinating chicken in teriyaki sauce make a difference compared to just grilling the chicken and just basting it with teriyaki?
Light brown sugar is the color, not the calories. Dark brown sugar has more molasses in it. BTW, found this channel a month ago. Love it. Sometimes educational, sometimes entertaining. Good mix of both.
That looks good! I'm Italian and I sometimes make teriyaki with chinotto, it's an Italian soda made from the fruits of the myrtle- leaved orange tree. It's not as sweet as Coca Cola, more of a bittersweet taste, so definitely more sugar if that's your taste, but i like it bitter sweet.
@@pheiskanen nah. The best Riesling wines are still from Germany (Dutchie here and I love Rieslings) The grapes will develop better taste in colder climates
Waited for approximately 6 months so i can start binge-watching Hiro again ^^ I like teriyaki sauce, this is awesome! Now i have to find the other 2 parts....:D
Thanks for choosing a wine from Washington State (I live here). I'm slightly partial to the Walla Walla Valley varietals, but Rieslings are pretty good all over the State. I can only drink whites and actually went to Canada last summer and brought back 10 cases of different whites (they're all EXTRAORDINARY up there). The Border customs guy was so taken aback when he looked in the trunk he was like, "So, how much wine DO you have?"
I think it might be a quicker way to substitute mirin is brand Ty-ku silver premium sake often sold by liquor stores and extra white sugar during the cooking/reducing (doesn't have to be ty-ku brand, but almost all stores carry unflavored sake). as for, the update to Walgreens bought items for teriyaki, and the reducing system is awesome because it's just perfect for extra flavors then store bought already bottled stuff. as always Thanks Again Master Sushi Chef Hiroyuki Terada.
one thing I wish you would do a video of is an authentic sea weed salad. With the diffrent wakame types. No one has done it I have looked all over youtube. The only one they show is the simple version. Thank you for the fun videos!
Good Afternoon Hiro-San. Just watched this on your FB channel. Perfect add to my collection. Oh how I miss the food I had when I lived in Hawai'i. どうもありがとうございます
Depends on what do you mean by "Mexican" Coke is. Just get the Glass Bottle from a gas station. It's a big difference compared to a Coke in a Plastic bottle. Must be from the chemicals in the plastic that make it taste a bit different. Glass bottles always taste like "Mexican" Coke lol. Weird.
Chef Hiro, did you make the 4th and 5th tutorials or stopped at the 3rd? It's fine either way. I'm just curious to see the last 2. Thank you for your videos 😁
Rocking the Quarantine Beard!!! Thanks for this video. I’m always trying to make my own sauces because I don’t like most of the store bought brands or can’t find them. So can I use 8 oz of Mirin if I don’t have white wine? Stay safe out there!!
If you use all sugar Coca-cola (in the USA often sold as "Mexican Coke") instead of the mainstream HFCS version it will taste sweeter, plus reduce to a syrup better. Regular Coke loses some of its apparent sweetness after being boiled.
Hiroyuki Terada - Diaries of a Master Sushi Chef Thank you so much. I will try to make it longer. I have made teriyaki but gets to thin like water then to thick, which is not used. Using it on 🍣
I went to a store recently in California that carried many many Asian products. It took me so long to get about 30 items, because everything in another language. One thing that I could not find was the sake. It was getting dark outside and I had taken away too long. It took me 30 minutes just to find a miso paste, in the refrigerator section. But I see the chef has selected a Riesling wine. Is this the same as sake? The next time I go to 88 ranch Market in California, it will be the first thing that I asked for. I have drink sake and Japanese restaurants, and it taste more like a hard liquor without the same buzz. It appears to be mild alcohol with a I-can't- describe-flavor, lol. But I do enjoy its low alcohol content! I can enjoy a sake and a dinner and drive home safely ❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🏜️🏜️ Please let me know if sake is the same thing as Riesling wine or if I can use the two interchangeably ❤️ I love the work that you two do. If you are gonna use mirin you can check Terada's previous DIY Teriyaki videos but if memory ain't failing me it should be 8oz indeed

Hey Hiro keep the beard you look good in it let it grow out dude!
Can you use corn starch in the teriyaki sauce to make it thicker?
Hi Hiro, what do you add to make it thicker? Did you just boil it longer? Good afternoon as well.
The coca colas syrup thickens as you boil
The soda...
you can boil and reduce longer or add some corn starch...but be careful with that...it may be too thick.

Hey Hiro, how well do you think you wouldve done on IronChef?
It should be called half a bulb of garlic. A clove is each little piece you broke of and there are about ten cloves of garlic in there :)
The cameraman made the same mistake in the previous 2 videos. I guess he doesn't cook so he doesn't know the term clove and bulb.
Would you kindly tell us what best meat for each type of sauce 1,2,3,4,5?
