On the DM6, you have presets but you also have custom drum kits, from 11-15. on those, you can change the sound of every cymbal, toms, and your snare. For example, choose the number 11 preset drumkit, press voice, and hit your ride. a number should appear, and with the +/- buttons, select what sound you want your ride to be. I use crash 6.3 as my second crash. make sure to press the save button twice to save it to the number 11 custom drumset.
surprised nobody has asked about any multitrack recording . Meaning how to record one sound in at a time . Like is it possible to turn other sounds from the other pads down in your drum loop ? That's really important to me. That's the whole reason I bought this thing.
ITS GRIND TIME MEDIA each pad has a volume setting 1-15. However, I don’t believe this brain can be used for “multi tracking” although you can use it as a MIDI controller in which case you could multitrack thru software on another device.
@@shawnvmartin shawnvmartin Thanks thats exactly what I needed to do . I can play a drum riff and while its playing I can record each sound into pro tools independently . My only concern is now can I trigger it to play via midi so I can lock it up in time . I see what your saying about the software i'm going to do that as well.
@Tom Bright see the cable he was showing in the beginning? It's a male to male 3.5mm jack, just buy one of these and plug it in the mix in (module) and plug the other end to your phone, you will be able to hear both drums and song 😉
How 'bout a video that shows how to use the USB to MIDI and record into a sequencer? Like Logic Pro or Garage Band? And how you assign the pads to a GM drum kit?
Simple and nice tutorial. Not sure if you still have this set, but a tutorial on how to change voice, drum set, rim pad, would be very helpful. Thanks.
@Judhi Prasetyo On the module buttons, you will find a button named VOICE hit it, then hit the drum u want to change the voice of, then use the + - buttons to go through various sounds 😉
Any reason you don't use the USB to record? You could get a much better mix by using the USB into a DAW and routing the MIDI so that each drum has its own channel. You could also use something like Superior Drummer for better sounds.
So I wanna buy my first e drum kit Alesis Nitro Mesh. And I wanna record some Songs with it of course, but have no Idea how to plug it into my Focusrite Scarlett interface, and will I get a normal sound just like when recording Guitar. And my main goal is to record drums for my songs. Is that a good Idea with the Alesis Nitro and the Audio Interface which I´ve got?
As far as I know, iPod Touch does not have a 'Mic In' port, it has an actual microphone. I believe you can buy an attachment that might allow you to do this, but I have no experience with iPods.
Nice demo dude, do you know if you can enhace the sounds by going through an external equaliser, lets say i want them with a little reverb and more deep in the bass, could I do that through an eq software in the computer?
@aaronp13beh you just get an adapter so your guitar lead can plug into the output in the back i did it today..and to everyone else this kits awesome i have been playing drums for 4 years and this is an awesome set sound great plays nice and looks nice in my home too :)
I just bought the DM6 but I wanted to know What kind of video camera do you have and does it matter as long as the camera has a LINE IN. Im looking on Ebay and im seeing video recorders as low as 29.00. IM not looking for anything special just something that works. Thanks!

Hi Shawnvmartin. with the Alexis dm6 drum kits, if you get any other audio interference like you. mentioned . what would I need to do if I have the audio output plugged in to my mixer input? as l get a kind of electrical sounding interference . I have turn down the volume on my drum module. and turned down a little the volume on my mixer. as well as turning down volume on my DAW on computer. is there anything else l could do to clear up the sound and get it to the point of how you have it in your video dated 17th March 2011. regards Timo the fellow drummer and musican.
Hi, I want to record this exact drum set in garage band. I was trying to do that using the USB, and connecting it to my audio interface, but it wasn't recording my drum set in garage band. in your video you use the output to plug into your camera (or in my case computer). should I connect that output chord to my audio interface or straight into my computer? Anyone is free to comment. Thanks .
I have played an acoustic kit but for noise problems,i have recently bought this drumset, without knowing it's cymbal don't support choke, i can't return either, so should I be get used to it or is there a way to make it "chokeable", i don't even know if the term is right.
I'm sorry, I wasn't so clear. I know you create the videos, drums, etc. Are the tracks your playing to drumless tracks (covers)? If so, do you purchase them? If so, where? I hope this clears it up. Thanks.
This worked for me just fine up until today when the sound output just didn't come in to my laptop. The only thing I did differently is I plugged it into phones instead of output (I use output to plug into a PA system) but I've done that in the past and it's worked out fine. Any ideas on why it's not working?
Hey... do you happen to have Superior Drummer 2.0? It'll be cool if you could do a tutorial on how to hook up the alesis dm6 kit to into the superior 2.0! Lemme know!
Hi Shaun just bought one of these kits for my son for Christmas the main appeal over a acoustic set is he can practice without disturbing neighbours etc. However it would be nice to hear him now and then, can you plug a speaker into the headphone jack? (if so what would you recommend) or does it need to go through a specialist drum amp (which is what all the music shops are telling me cause of the low frequency and cant even use a guitar amp as will sound naff, could blow the speaker) Thanks
Martin Wardle to simply hear what is being played, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to plug it into any stereo. I've done that. Yes it is low frequency and it will be very boomy but it will work. If you're talking about using an output for performance, then yes you will need a drum amp.
Nowhere near performance level so will give stereo a try and just keep it turned down low to save the speakers from blowing, thanks for the info much appreciated.
Tom Bright plug in your male to male 3mm audio cable from phone to mix in on the brain, then have your headphones plugged into the headphone jack on your brain
