- I had the chance to meet Mikael Stanne and Johan Reinholdz from Dark Tranquillity at Wacken 2023, after playing there the day before with my own band All For Metal. DT is my most favorite band ever, their music simply means so much to me, and it was such a happy hangout with the guys. Trust me, I had to focus really hard not to fangirl, my heart rate was about 90bpm xD

We talked about Wacken's evolution, their own evolution as a band, their upcoming record, Johan's approach on writing guitar stuff and why Mikeal quit guitar after the release of DT's debut album "Skydancer".

These guys are also one of my favorite bands. DT keeps being relevant over the years. Moreover, they were awarded the Swedish Grammis (the Swedish equivalent of the Grammy) in the category "Best Hard Rock/Metal". The atmospheric mood in the albums, these are the emotions that the guys transfer to music and lyrics, for them music is the most important thing they have in life, except, of course, their families. Their amazing and multifaceted mission remains the same - to explore the state of melancholy, which is adjacent to rage. I can only imagine how happy you were to see your idols and be happy for you with all my heart, besides, you are an amazing correspondent milady. Thank you so much for the video 🎸🤘🏻
This band is pure art in every aspect and this is what makes them so unique in my point of view. You can dive deep into thoughts about the music, the lyrics, the artworks. It's incredibly beautiful. (But I guess I already responded that before somewhere xD )
I like how he explained how songs change their meaning over time and you have to adapt to them. I have thought about that for years and I am glad to have a professional explain it in detail. That was awesome!
Happy to hear! It's that what Johan explained. Some lyrics are so open to interpretation. Some more, some less and this is something so beautiful. It makes them really relatable. Too bad I was commenting to quick on that with "trip down memory lane", I wasn't catching up quickly enough.

Fresh off your first Wacken performance and interviewing your favourite band. What an incredible time that must have been. You did a great job keeping your cool haha and delivered a fantastic interview. That was fascinating. It's always great to hear a band speak so passionately about their music and still be driven to reach new heights after all these years. It was awesome to see how much they love their art and your delight in it too. Outstanding interview. And it's amazing what you can do with phone recording and audio enhancers now. Excellent sound quality. :)

Thank you! It's also making me happy when this happens. Sometimes it's like a hit or miss to initiate a conversation... It happens though that it's just question-answer when you cannot connect personally in this short period of time.

This festival is one I desperately wanna go to, but sweet jeebers it's expensive to get there.
It's definitely one of a kind festival, though the weather always is unpredictable in August. When you also need to pay for flights and transfer, it is already an expensive vacation, that's true!

@@JassyPabst it's so true! Each song musically and lyrically is so relatable, which Johan spoke to quite a bit here. I always said their lyrics remind me of the rock & hard rock bands from the 90s I grew up with, in that the lyrics are totally open to interpretation of the listener. 🥰

Thank you! I was a bit worried though since I have prepared a lot of questions and together with Wacken they questions have been pre-selected. Normally I just go with the flow of the conversation and I am pretty happy the questions did work out in the end =)
