The tracks usually just starts at the same place as the songfile they are played to. That means the recording starts on a spot like precisely at one at a bar /on the grid ;)
Just wondering how they sync up the separate drum tracks at the other end for the final mix? Are they just consolidated to 0 on the timeline, or are they digitally time stamped?
