Some info for Josh and fellow viewers of this channel. Another You Tuber, Caleb Walters (in a different review), posted this feature comparison to the Revel. Hope Josh, Caleb and UA-cam don't mind me sharing it here. It is from the Go Small, Live Large review of this rig. This was very helpful to me from a comparison and research standpoint so I thought I'd share. No intention of stepping on any toes by sharing to this review, my intentions are pure:
"Thanks for checking out the Jayco Terrain! The following items are a summary of the Terrain's specs and features as compared to the Revel:
-10.2 kW of lithium output vs the Revel's 3.2 kW (Run an AC for 8.5-11 hours straight on a full charge vs 3.5 hours in a Revel)
-The AC is STANDARD and is 48V, meaning no converter needed = higher efficiency (110V AC option on Revel)
-STANDARD black aluminum wheels and off-road tires (option on Revel)
    -Upgraded shocks and sway bar
    -3,500 W inverter
    -Front light bar
    -Real partial paint option
-Sliding and reclining rear passenger seats that spread apart to provide more shoulder room
    -Exterior speakers
    -On-board air compressor
    -Powered rear passenger window
-Electric powered, heated, and memory front seats
    -Cassette dump station utility light
-The van is spec'd as a passenger van with a large window in the sliding door vs the Revel is spec'd as a cargo van and they cut out a small window
-The clothes line in the shower is retractable
-2 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY vs Revel's 1 year limited warranty"
At a similar price point to the Revel, I think the Terrain offers more. The on board air compressor, vastly superior battery power/inverter and longer off grid AC run time seal the deal for me. Outside of that they are virtually identical.
Once again Josh, I sure hope I'm not out of line by sharing this here.

When I hear of solar panels I’m used to hearing watts and kilowatts. When I hear lithium batteries I’m used to hearing amp hours. I’m guessing it has 3-4 100 amp lithium batts.

    • @zonacrs

@@MichaelWilliams-ro9bm Volts times Amp = watts, or vice versa. Since this is a 48 volt battery rated at 210 amp hours that is 10,080 watt hours or 10.008 kilowatt hours. In other words it's one big ass powerful battery. From Thor: "48V - 210 amp hour smart lithium battery providing 10KW hours of power".

Looks really neat, but I just can't justify a home mortgage for a van. I like the size and Mercedes van as I have heard good things about that motor and vehicle. The price appears to go up $100k from the base vehicle to this build-out by Jayco. Doesn't make sense that fifth wheel trailers 2-3x bigger than this can be bought for less than hat $100k price jump. I think I would be more apt to buy a base van myself and build it out for my needs. Or buy a truck and trailer and still be less than half the price of this van. This is definitely a niche market. I envision a young couple who are engineers or traveling sales working remotely and doing a UA-cam channel for biking/hiking. Then they rent it out periodically. With all this said, I would still enjoy having one of these. 😄

These Mercedes chassis two year ago were much more reasonable. Remember it's just the chassis so the modification is way overpriced. Not even a tv and the solar is underpowered. Mercedes by the way voids the warranty if you add that fast idle package. Other chassis builders allow engine to come on by itself to charge batteries so you can leave a pet inside. Mercedes does not allow this. They never explain why.

The Rekon has a kitchen prep area. Simply remove the driver side mattress. You end up with a six foot long prep area to place the induction cooktop. This space also serves as a workbench to fix your ski bindings, bike repair etc. If looking for a true adventure van the only one without equipment on the chassis underside is the Rekon. For off road clearance, build quality and resale value the Rekon is the obvious choice.

With the driver seating, I wasn't surprised by the rotating ability, but that little extender was kinda neat. With accommodating short people, it's pretty easy because they just pull the set up and maybe get some extenders on the pedals, but tall people are usually just stuck being cramped.
Being able to spread out the rear setting was an unexpected bonus.
all in all, definitely good on features. Kind of a shame the bathroom/shower is so cramped. I'm not really sure what they could've done differently for that, though.

Maybe I missed something; seats four but sleeps two barely, you get to pay for a 4x4 but don't get adequate ground clearance to clear a speed bump, they give you a tilty table but not a silverware organizer. Sounds like an expensive "camper" for someone who is really going to spend most nights at a Marriott. But there are ALOT of other class B rigs listed in the extended Bish inventory for the more main stream user and with much less expensive price tags. Don’t really understand having four seats with a bed that barely fits two people sleeping very closely. I know you can’t please everyone. I don’t like it. It has lots of neat features but it is too expensive. The rear seats look uncomfortable. They need armrests. The bed looks uncomfortable as well. Yes you can put e bikes in the back but where do you keep them when you sleep? Especially in bad weather. I don’t like the bathroom configuration either. Jayco just wanted to see how much stuff they could cram into a van. Thanks for the look at it.

Lol, when I saw this I know jayco is capable of building diesel heater and water heater system like a European RV but won't do it for that super c you had on about a week ago. Plus no LP. I find it just stupid that RV companies don't do this as an option throughout there drive able lineup. I also think this needs a diesel generator as well because it would be more efficient than running a 6 cylinder diesel engine at high idle.

Not much creativity or innovation. This is a copy of the Winnebago Rebel.
It seems sunk in the back. When look at the tires, the rear seems lower than the front.
The 2nd row seats seem for skinny no more than 120lbs people. I like the seat little separation feature.
Do the front seat swivel to face the 2nd row?
    Love the 10KW battery package.
The kitchen seems better than the Rebel. With the hidden induction cooking plate and big solar package, gives you more options and counter space that the propane 2-burner range that the Rebel have.
I prefer the silver color. Even when not fully stealth, it looks like it will not bring too much attention to it if you need rest in a residential area. I'll probably get a " Josh the RV Nerd Plumbing Service " magnetic sign to be more stealthy if needed in a residential area.
The on-board air compressor is a great idea.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 роки тому +1

It's really almost exactly a copy of that Winnebago with very little really separating them.
Front seats do swivel. Demonstrated in video (though I didn't fully turn them so perhaps that's confusing to look upon)
That kitchen really was impressive. Best I think I've seen in a B.
Idea for the side: Giant decal saying "NOT the FBI Van"

I definitely recognize how it looks odd. It's not my favorite placement. But at the same time if the RV was hooked up at a park and it was driving raining outside, then nobody would bat an eyelash. The little trickle of water you may see from the hookups isn't anything to worry about
But could it have been done better?
      Yeah. Definitely.
