When we first saw evil Strange in Multiverse of Madness we all thought it was What If Strange and making that show matter. I can't believe Marvel wasted that idea when it would have been epic. I honestly don’t get all the hate for the multiverse saga. There’s literally only been 5 projects (6 now including Agatha) that include the multiverse. No way home, loki, and Deadpool and Wolverine are all good. Sure they are full of cameos but it doesn’t necessarily make it bad. Multiverse of madness and quantamania are the ones that people don’t like. I think it’s more of people being tired of the multiverse being used so much in media.
half the time it doesn't even focus on the multiverse, it instead made a bunch of plot ideas that don't really connect and we were left with not knowing how it all ties together
I think the biggest reason why the Multiverse Saga is bad and criticized as a whole is because those few little projects that do play with the multiverse all play it by completely different rules. This means that, even if some projects like Loki and Deadpool 3 are well-received and good media on their own, if they don't mesh together in a way that makes sense to the audience, then that means the *saga* is fundamentally flawed. A successful and well-constructed saga is meant to present its chapters in a way that's both coherent and cohesive, and if the namesake of the saga--the Multiverse--is so poorly handled across the chapters which tackle it due to the lack of communication and planning at Marvel, then it simply doesn't work as a connected saga, regardless of how good each individual project is. TL;DR: Marvel made the choice to call this saga "the Multiverse Saga", yet, so far, they have fumbled every aspect of the Multiverse as an inter-connected, over-arching narrative. The saga failed in what it set out to do, and for that, I think the criticism is warranted.
You have to realise that Multiverse of Madness was meant, and was marketed as the big multiverse film. Only it was a mess. It’s the same with Quantimania, that was the film to set up the big bad in the movies for Kang Dynasty, and they wasted the opportunity. No Way Home doesn’t really count as cameos because the spidermen actually serve and are in a large chunk of the story. Deadpool and Wolverine is a fun MESS - it makes sense for X23 to be there as she plays a part in Logan’s character, but everyone else was just thrown in, and truth be told, not trying to be negative, I really didn’t care much for most of the cameos. The Infinity Saga was exciting because cameos and easter eggs all were directly under the blanket of the MCU - we had Thor in Doctor Strange, Iron Man in Homecoming or Black Widow in The Winter Soldier, but all of them were part of the same universe and were organically implemented in the stories. I literally couldn't care less for someone from a movie released twenty years ago to come back just so I can say "hey, I liked this movie twenty years ago". Comparing a multimillion/multibillion dollar cinematic project that rides on cultural hype by a multibillion dollar media corporation to a single human life is probably one of the dumbest criticisms of a content creator I have ever heard 😂 how do you tie your shoes level shit
First and keep up the good work🤝
Thanks! Will do!
