The mark of a great artist is to take a song they’ve played and sung hundreds of times and make it sound as fresh and heartfelt as the first time…Steve Winwood does that EVERY TIME 🎶 - TGD
What is TGD??
@@karenhammond7690 my initials - TGD
His acoustic version in his later years all by himself is the absolute best version
Dead on
That’s a stupid ‘mark’. And who initials a fuggin yt comment? I’d say that’s the mark of a douchebag
I've seen Steve in Traffic, Blind Faith and his Solo iterations. He's a very special, even genius, musician who touches the soul with his humble, authentic music
I wish someone recorded him in the backup band for John Lee Hooker's UK tour in the early 60s. Steve would barely be able to shave.
Is the guy that plays congas here the legendary Rebop (seems to me he must be, and that I can recognise his particular style there - hope I won't offend anybody -) ? I'm asking you because he was the guy who played in Traffic back in "The Low Spark of High-heeled Boys" (and since you sawTraffic)...How I've liked that album !
I missed Blind Faith. I'm envious.
Cath- That is SO well put I'm envious of your comment!
likewise. Last visit was 2 years ago. Truly amazing
Somehow this man knows my heart frequency.
💕
Exactly
The Voice, the incredible musicianship, honesty, integrity and at the top of musical royalty
Amen to that!
the pleasure of watching one of the greatest musicians, songwriter, and arranger is worth every minute you spend watching him. Steve Winwood is on a level by himself.
Yes
It occurs to me after listing to Steve Winwood all these years how sincere and humble he as is a songwriter. You can see it in his face during this whole PBS performance how it's not his showmanship that's important, but actually getting each song's message out to the audience. Maybe it's this intent that makes him so good at everything he touches.
I challenge anyone to find Steve doing a bad version of this incredible song - it's simply impossible. I've had the privilege of seeing Steve about a dozen times, including with Jim Capaldi in 1994, and the man never ceased to blow me away. I'm forever grateful for his music.
you are not alone! brilliant writer and singer, not to mention guitarist and keyboard player.
This is a complete 5th below the original key and still sounds bitchin
Ur a lucky guy.ty for sharing that ! Loved Stevie forever! He never ages? Beautiful souls go on n on with all that good karma!! Traffic ,even the name is cool
@@dianepriore9576 except that this is a "Blind Faith" song.
lucky you lucky you
There’s few songs that are perfect. This is one of them.
Doesn't matter how often I listen to this song; it always makes me cry. Love it so much 💖
Damn me too. It tears me up and I'm a dude
It's Steve Winwood. Enough said.
Stevie is one of the real giants of the 60s generation. He is on a level with the very best: Lennon, Hendrix, Dylan, and just a few others.
Such talent, a timeless song
One of my favorite songs from the "Blind Faith" Album. Steve Winwood is an amazing musician, and I always loved his music from The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, and his solo career. I always hoped they would have released more albums with Blind Faith.
This beautiful song invokes so many memories - bittersweet as well as exhilarating ones. Thank you Steve.
Loved his work for 5 decades
Brilliant saw him at The Who in 82 in Birmingham Who fans love him U think says something all great💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Steve Winwood has been a Legend for a half century plus that's Legendary!!!!!
Blind Faith- Ist album I bought on my own as a very young adult.
Instantly transferred to my yoith. Brings tears to my eyes. Love you Steve.
Prodigy. He wrote it as a mere kid, but it still makes little sense through the ages.
What extraordinary talent!
Ladies & gentlemen real music by real musicians. My favorite version of this song. Thanks for posting ❤️🎶❤️
I have loved this sweet boy my whole life😊❤️ He touches my soul! Praise be.
Just a shit load of memories from this tune wow
Mr. Steve Winwood, the most unique voice of all time. 1969 Blind Faith songs of my youth.
Did you know Steve dropped out of school at the age of 15 to pursue his music career????
Absolutely Beautiful! Thank you makes me want to BE a better Human! Jesus Christ Saves. God bless Everyone
Saw him many times when I was still at school in the sixties mostly at the Marquee. Even as a teenager he was brilliant and really got me in to blues - and then there was Traffic - say no more - a great band.
I've loved this guy a very long time. He can do no wrong.
A great song, for sure. I saw Steve Winwood twice live, as the opening act for Tom Petty. Cheers! ✌️
Steve is not a show off but I can guarantee you he’s one of the best if not the best guitarist out there and he plays everything else deeply well as well
Saw him with Jimi Hendrix and again at the Fairfield Halls when they recorded the Canteen album and finally at Montreux Jazz festival about 12 or so years ago when he played a stunning solo version of Mr Fantasy for over 20 minutes. Unique voice. Great songwriter. Brilliant multi-instrumentalist - what more can I say?
The Canteen album is one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s framed and hanging on my music wall.
First time was November 18 1970 at Fillmore East with Traffic...
One of my faves. Well to tell the truth I love them all.
I took my son to see Steve in San Francisco at Winterland. It was a great show. He definitely is one of a kind! I love him!!
Glad you didn't trip and fall over some homeless junkie and get stabbed. :)
@@CooManTunes Lol! It was probably 20 years ago! But I would probably go again!
Love Steve Winwood and love the song but that drummer is something else, as he is on "Back In The High Life" from the same concert.
What a gift he is to us all.. always in love with Steve…🙏♥️🔥🥰
This song is the soundtrack to my life❤
Heard Steve and his brothers when I was 15 (now 70) in Scheveningen (Holland), Steve was 17. I had an LP but someone never gave it back to me. It was good music. Among others "On the green light". I don't know anymore how this band was called.
Where did all the time go???
Great version ...
One Class Act,From A Very Classy Guy!! Let's All Continue To Appreciate MR Steve Winwood!! 🎸🔥🙏 mob
Great music, amazing singer and band !
Steve is such an excellent guitar player, keyboard player, singer and composer, that is perfect sense of timing and rhythm is generally overlooked. I hope he continues to create great music.
Masterpiece
Just have to say what a killer drummer, tasty. Great song love the sound of Steve's voice, that's how its done.
Always loved this live performance.
Saw you play with the Allman Brothers at one of their last shows, Steve. I finally felt I could really feel the energy of what these songs and shows have meant to so many people throughout so many years that day.
This tune and St Paddy’s Day great combo
Unbelievably beautiful heavenly song..❤
My Mt. Rushmore of Rock ......... 🎸 ..... Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Steve Winwood, Neil Young, Pete Townshend 🎸 As for Stevie Winwood..... he "may" have recorded more great music playing all the instruments than anyone I know. ✌️
Probably not from those reading this, but Stevie is so underrated, overall.
One of those songs that I can never get out of my head.
Oh, the voice!!
Still in Love with this song after many years ...gets my heart every time ..and Great Musicians as well as the Magical Steve Winwood .
Saw Stevie with the Spencer Davis Group at St Georges Hall Guernsey when I was a young lad (so was Stevie) in the early 60's BRILLIANT.Never will forget those days.
Remarkable talent that never fades
I truly think he only gets better. 💕
My first rock concert was Traffic 🚥 at age 13 1972 in Miami Fla
I have a vivid memory of the Blind Faith album cover and while the 33rpm record played on our stereo. I was a sophomore in high school. Old mfer😂❤
He's still the best ! Greetings from Germany 👍
My fav song.
What a great song/songwriter and band.
Great rendition of a beautiful song.
musikalisch einer meiner Leuchttürme in der Welt. Danke Stever !!!
Such a talent. Such a voice
Saw Traffic in Paris in the early 70s. They did the entire Barlycorn album. Always a Steve Winwood fan
Incredible performance of a terrific song! I also love the YT video of his solo Acoustic rendition of this song, just amazing! 👍👍🎸🎸🎤🎤
Always a favorite
Beautiful 😻
grazie Steve per tutto quello che ci hai regalato
Saw him in Traffic in the 70’s & alone in the Bay Area around 2010 or 2011 when he sang this song. His voice is instantly recognizable. Love him.
Classic tune!
It is 2023 ... we are still trying to find our way home!!! 👀💞💥 BJ/ATLGA/USA 💖💚
Thanks again for putting the sun setting moment into the rhythm of the night! This song just does it!!
Steve is one the best of all time. Sounds as good as it has every time over the last 50 or more years.
So many great memories in smoke filled rooms, automobiles and occasional concerts listening to this and all of Steve’s songs & collaborations. A highlight Sir was shaking your hand @ Kingsbury Hall, Salt Lake City Utah and thanking you for all of those memories which I so cherish.
Steve's musical out-put has alway's been impeccable , that being said , I had felt for the longest time that these offerings here from this PBS 2005 stuff was in some way a glimpse of Steve's earlier self . A side of him from before his solo career began .A side from before a point of seasoned maturity , When he took more of a stance in contribution and exploration into the great unkown as compared to endorsing a perspective based on self. The self image of the solo career carried on after it began and attached itself to all even though the veteran stood practically from the beginning .I thought perhaps in some way that there was a revisit of a sense of exploring into a fresh unknown once again here.
Into the heart of eternity!
What a beauty
Fantastic from Stevie.
"Home" is a place, a not only a dwelling. But, a place in your own heart and mind. If a person "can't find" that, nobody else can "help" them find it. They have to, then, "build" their own "home", where they want it, with what "furnishings" or people they want in it. That's the next best thing that they can do. Some people, though, think of themselves at "home" no matter where they go, because no matter where they are, they know that THEY (THEMSELVES) will be the same, for that person, I guess they, themselves, or the way in which they "see the world" IS their true home, not a mere place, but somewhere IN themselves, in their own mind. My philosophy of this tune, for what it's worth. IMHO. 🙂
Resonating. Thanks for sharing. My two more cents : Being lost is NOT bad/evil like the prodigal son coming back home post being lost, its staying lost and not trying that affects the Heart-mind-body complex consciousness. Submitting to the already ever present unity flow IS the home which doesn't have to be found but be surrendered through by grace or effortless effort. That's our 4 cents for what it's worth
Musical genius!
Prophetic song INDEED as MANY a Rock Star couldn't find their way Home. But Winwood & Brit Buddy Clapton HAVE .. Both of them performed this Tune in Hyde Park in London back in the day.. Got to say Steve looks REALLY good for his age.. The Man took CARE of Himself indeed..
Bliss ...Do we all imagine ..this is my song .
Beautiful! Keeping the faith ✌
Thank you, this song is in my DNA
Simply put... They are Born to Be A MASSIVE Picture of This...A Sing er-songwriter... Traveling Minstrel of Years Gone.... bye!
