Everyone is Talking about the Solo when Gandalf Falls. I'm here just admiring the badassery of that choir and orchestra for when the fellowship is running from the Balrog. My favorite piece of the soundtrack in all of Lotr.
My favourite bit is @3:54 with the Fellowship motif playing once Aragorn and Frodo make it to safety, it’s in a way triumphant but also subdued as the danger with the Balrog has not passed yet. Amazing stuff!
@@andrewburgemeister6684 From this moment to the "You Shall Not Pass" is extremly epic. I would immediatly buy my ticket for this kind of concert if it were to pass by my country
@@symbolitical4158 I’m mostly referring to the first half. There is a big powerful choir and orchestra performing as the scene builds up to Gandalf’s encounter with the Balrog on the Bridge of Khazad Dum.
This scene is not only one of the best in the film, but also in the best film trilogy ever. The moment when Boromir says "Give them a moment for pity's sake!" is the reason why the first film is my favorite. Boromir shows himself as the most human of them all. He who feels more then thinks, and is flawed more than he cares to admit, easily corrupted into take the "easy way out" cause being brave against overwhelming odds feels hopeless. The most beautiful and most human comes then in the ending when he also still keeps fighting those odds to protect the fellowship he has just failed. Such a masterpiece in every way. Thank you Tolkien, and Peter Jackson, Howard Shore and Sean Bean
The moment (6:43) Kaitlyn Lusk released that raw talent of emotional chords with that angelic voice of hers... It gives me shivers with tremendous amounts of tears followed.
Gandolf falling (to his alleged death) was more about "hope" possibly being lost for the Fellowship of the Ring, as opposed to him actually passing away...Definitely a powerful scene, in more ways than one.
+Ruhi Ellis And the legendary phrases "You shall not pass!" and "Fly you fools!" are probably two of the most iconic movie phrases of the 90s and 00s. Ian McKellen really delivered the whole scene on the Bridge of Khazad Dum perfectly. His acting skills are amazing.
This song gets 10 times better if you understand what is being chanted in the earlier part of the song. "Fire in the deep! / Flames lick our skin! / Fear rips our heart! / No! No! No! / The demon comes" When Howard Shore combines that with all those 5ths in the orchestra, and the brass section, the result is awe-inspiring. I was crying all the way through the first half. (And wonderful solo at the end of course)
The bridge of Khazad Dum has always been one of my favourite scenes, mostly due to the amazing music, the choir and the emotion when Gandalf fell. But Frodo's screams and seeing the Hobbits crying was the most gut-wrenching thing for me. Followed by the: "give them a moment, for pity's sake," Yes, Boromir fell for the ring, but he also loved the little ones. He tried to save them on many occasions, here on the bridge but also in the end. He died doing the right thing. He deserves more love.
I saw The Return Of The King at the Royal Albert Hall in London, with full orchestra and soloists. Oh, and we got to meet Howard Shore afterwards. EPIC.

Movies are such an amazing blend of so many different art forms. From the writing of the book, to screenplay adaption, to cinematography, to set design, to character design, to visual effects, to acting, to writing the music, musical performance, and so on. So many skilled, talented people have to come together to create a movie like this.
Movie (and my favorite of all time at that) WITH Live Symphony?! 😯 How did I not ever know this was even a thing that existed until now??? 🤯 I usually never use this phrase but literally just take all my money. Seriously though how often do they do this and how can I get a ticket? P.S. and that girl???? THAT BEAUTIFUL girl with the voice of an absolute ANGEL?! My goodness!!! I’m awe-struck. I mean what can I say? I’m left completely speechless by her haunting yet angelic voice that pierces right through my very soul. Wow what an absolute gift she has. And I love the emotion she not only conveys through her voice, but also just the look on her face while she’s singing really drives it home even more...the sense of despair...and you can really tell she is feeling the music and connecting to the story as she sings and just really letting that empathy and sympathy for the characters guide her voice so that the audience can therefore also feel it and relate to it even more strongly that way and it makes it hit that much harder when you see the expression she has on her face while singing. She must not be a stranger to the loss of a loved one (or ones) if I had to guess, just based off this performance/video. Incredible. Absolutely brilliant and magnificent and beautiful. Great, very great job to all involved and thanks to the uploader of the video as well!
I’m 33 years old and watch trilogy twice a year as I can miss it while I’m eating or walking, so I watch them, but, will feel incompetent to tell to anyone that this what I do, coz someone may not understand and they mock and laugh,…. (Experienced truth) Let it be my love secret for the rest of my life to watch them every year …. ❤ Just to add on : it’s the same with first 3 part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ❤😊
I cried a little before I clicked on this video, just cause I knew it was gonna make me cry. But DANG the majestic woman in the red dress grabbed my heartstrings and yanked with that solo (6:59 physically hurts my heart to hear... it's like the musical manifestation of heartbreak) .... I'm sobbing like I haven't ever seen these movies and don't know Gandalf comes back at the turn of the tide. HOWARD SHORE, HOW? PETER JACKSON? TOLKIEN? HOW HAVE THEY DONE THIS???? I would kill and die to see this live in concert.
@7:20 did any1 else see the choir boy wipe a tear from his face besides me . That's a sign from him being emotionally amazed by Kaitlyn's voice . God bless him .
When Aragorn and Frodo jumped over the falling staircase to ''safety'' a triumphant melody is being played, immediately you know what's coming: the most intense moment of the whole sequence. At 4:10 the intensity starts rising exponencially once again from silence, you know that Gandalf is going to have to face this demon all by himself. The entire orchestra is playing at maximum power; the strings, the percussion, the brass instruments are going all out and the chanting elevates the moment even further for the final showdown. The epicness is beyond belief. Impossible not to get teary, especially when the lady starts singing at around 6:42. The emotional rollercoaster is too much to handle if you are fully invested and the body gives in. This experience live must be simply undescribable.
06:28 ya serán 19 años desde que se estrenó la primera parte de la trilogía, 19 años desde que la Vi en el cine y esa escena me conmovió profundamente. This trilogy and its music has been my life since I can remember. I don't say this lightly, but without it I probably wouldn't be alive today. Absolutely changed my life.
6:20 and beyond is my favorite part of the movie. Maybe of all the movies in the trilogy, period.. and since LoTR is my favorite series of books/movies... I suppose this is my favorite scene of any scene in anything.
I was at a screening of this movie with live orchestra in Rotterdam, Netherlands some 20 years ago. I was on the first ring, looking down on the orchestra from the side, much closer than this camera viewpoint, and the seats next to me were empty at first. Great was my surprise when half the choir took those seats! Sitting next to that choir so closely was one of the best experiences of my life, especially during this scene! I can't remember wich section of the choir it was, but it could have been the men.
6:58 She enchanted me, she has a beautiful voice and her singing almost destroyed my eardrums, which nearly burst my head. She excited me, really good and also very beautiful. 😢😍👏😘❤
I'm going in September to The Lord of the Rings in Concert in the Netherlands. Watching this already gave me tear. I can't wait to see this live. I think live this will be so much more spectacular.
Watched this in Florence a few years ago. It was outstanding. The male chorus at 1:23 and 3:13 was really strong! You don't pay attention to that when you watch the movie on tv.
I've seen this movie, specifically Fellowship, 50ish times by now. It's impossible for me to get to this scene and not rewind at least a few times during the part of this girl's solo!! Her voice, even if there were no context behind it, is enough to make my eyes water up.

Kaitlyn Lusk is just exceptional here. Her voice brings tears to my eyes. Bravo :)
The entire score for all three films is stunning. Howard rightly won two Oscars, he should imo have had all three.
Movies are such an amazing blend of so many different art forms. From the writing of the book, to screenplay adaption, to cinematography, to set design, to character design, to visual effects, to acting, to writing the music, musical performance, and so on. So many skilled, talented people have to come together to create a movie like this.
YES! You exactly explained why I love film so much.
(Experienced truth)
Let it be my love secret for the rest of my life to watch them every year …. ❤
Just to add on : it’s the same with first 3 part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ❤😊
Ни зря трилогия получила столько наград!!
Браво!!!
MAN! That was epic..
I am booked in with my girlfriend on the 10th December to see this at the Bridgewater hall in manchester. Cannot stop watching this video
God bless all you!
I wish I could watch this trilogy for the first time again. no film will ever come to its equal.
The whole Mines of Moria is edge of the seat stuff from beginning to end. What a BRILLIANT movie PJ made
You can tell everyone around Caitlyn on stage were as mesmerised by her performance as the audience were. My god the voice she has is phenomenal!
The amnount of percussions and choirs is definitely part of which all these tracks sounds so epicly good.
@7:20 did any1 else see the choir boy wipe a tear from his face besides me . That's a sign from him being emotionally amazed by Kaitlyn's voice . God bless him .
Wells its either that or he had a slight itch on the side of his nose lol
I did! And me too :(
I saw this live in NYC. I was crying The Whole time.
It was amazing. This gives me the best flashbacks.
This experience live must be simply undescribable.
after years and that vocalist is just wow
I thought ANGELS DOESN'T exist I was wrong WOW!!! 6:35
They live on the moon of Iego I think
This piece is the single most emotionally moving piece of cinematic music ive ever heard.
Wish I could have been there ... It's amazing too see the movie with the whole orchestra playing the soundtrack ...
i’ve watched this video since i was 12, 11 years later i watch it weekly. i love this video so much.
This trilogy and its music has been my life since I can remember. I don't say this lightly, but without it I probably wouldn't be alive today. Absolutely changed my life.
Tears in my eyes, chills upon chills...I'm speechless.
This is Art...
Absolutely breathtaking. It feels so nice
i wish the vocals went longer
Think thats part what makes it so good.
Me too.
Beautiful.
Gave me the chills when she began her part. Outstanding!!!
this is the best version of this track
especially the last minute of the song
6:20 and beyond is my favorite part of the movie. Maybe of all the movies in the trilogy, period.. and since LoTR is my favorite series of books/movies... I suppose this is my favorite scene of any scene in anything.
Random Commenter One of the most flawless scenes I’ve ever seen. The acting, the music, everything. Perfection.
I just cant this orchestra makes me tear up everytime. What a beautiful performance.
+Harvey RSMOO (류민규) give this man a momen't for pity's sake!
6:58 She enchanted me, she has a beautiful voice and her singing almost destroyed my eardrums, which nearly burst my head.
She excited me, really good and also very beautiful. 😢😍👏😘❤
brings tears to my eyes :'(
I'm going in September to The Lord of the Rings in Concert in the Netherlands. Watching this already gave me tear. I can't wait to see this live. I think live this will be so much more spectacular.
her voice is just.... amazing. Thank you
The woman in the red/pink dress was amazing!!! Gave me the strongest goosebumps! How can anyone sing so high??
amazing voice of that angel
That solo almost had me in tears at the cinema. Goosebumps stuff. Emotion overload.
Watched this in Florence a few years ago. It was outstanding.
The male chorus at 1:23 and 3:13 was really strong!
You don't pay attention to that when you watch the movie on tv.
The crescendo from 2:30 to 4:00 is the most epic scene ever the music Carries everything
I see you and raise you the "lighting the beacon" music from Return of the King ;)
@@Pheebs77 I see and raise the ride of the rohirrem both times in the return of the king
Impossível não se emocionar com essa cena épica e com o conjunto coral solista e orquestra, chorei 🥹❤️
I've seen this movie, specifically Fellowship, 50ish times by now. It's impossible for me to get to this scene and not rewind at least a few times during the part of this girl's solo!! Her voice, even if there were no context behind it, is enough to make my eyes water up.
When gandalf fells down from the bridge song of this scene make me cry
The lord of the ring is the best movie ever seen
The first time I saw this as a young boy I cried my eyes out. If i saw this with the orchestra live, i might die of sadness.
2020 3020 or 4020 still amazing, forever...
Thanks UA-cam Mellon ❤
Thanks for this during lockdown. Best afternoon ever.
