I love how Aragon says “Ride out with me.” And the look he receives and the glance down, like they’re both saying “You know I’m really that crazy, are you sure?” And when Aragon says it again after that brief pause, you know then where the courage of men lies. In all of them.
Actually a very minor pet peeve of mine. In the books, the charge is fully the initiative of Theoden. I believe he says something like “I will not be pulled from my hole like an old badger”. Absolutely love the books and the movie. Maybe
The cast was phenomenal throughout! Every time I read The Two Tower or The Return of the King, I can’t picture Lord Denathor being anyone but John Noble or King Theodin being anyone but Bernard Hill.
My mother caught me watching the Trilogy the other night. She came in when I was about to finish The Return of the King. She commented " Are you gonna be watching the same movie every year until you die? You are crazy!" Silly her...
When I was smaller, I used to be upset and disappointed that Eomer didn't said anything encouraging to his riders, as it is common. I always felt that if there was one point in the movie which they did lazily, it was that very moment. Now I understand that "To the king!" was as simple and allsaying order as commander can give to his troops. The king was in danger and the only thing that matter at that point, was to get to him. Not their lives, not the fate of Hornburg, not the ocean of enemies between them and their king.
The charge in Return of The King might be grander scale but this and the Last March of The Ents always stood out as the high point in the series for me. I always felt like it was the first moment where the resistance to Sauron's conquest starts to bear fruit. The courage of men and the strength of nature in harmony against the forces of evil.
Two towers is a masterpiece of cinamtography. But i think the score mixed with the the battle for minas tirith is just absolutely flawless. and the horns of the different armies. No movie gives me goosebumps more then blasting the speakers to max during the battle and waiting for the moment the momokill horns are heard in the distance. No movie makes you feel so immersed quite like the LOTR trilogy, all movies are once in lifetime masterpieces.
I remember the reviews from diehard Tolkien fans for this film: How _dare_ Jackson do this or that for pure dramatic effect? And yet, it was Jackson and the cast and crew of these films that brought generations of people to one of the greatest, if not GOAT, of fantasy worlds-- it helped that his idea of turning Ents into huge walking trees that can hurl boulders was an instant success. And little did those old fans know, this was the result after cutting a number of other more radical changes like bringing Arwen to Helm's Deep. "Fell deeds, awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and a red dawn!" was posted outside a WETA Digital office during crunch time for The Two Towers where they spent days and nights on end completing all the digital shots. Little did they know, they would have to complete more than twice that number for Return of the King.
LOTR is absolutely without a doubt THE GOAT of all fantasy even the books themselves are the OGs for modern fantasy, couldnt have made better movies for such revolutionary books for modern fantasy.
I would love to do this one day god i would be an absolute emotional wreck getting those insane orchestral tones ringing in my ears and touching my soul and love for LOTR and its absolutely immense score. Theres a reason most people class this as being the greatest triliogy ever made.
I don’t care what anyone says, this stuff is so cool. I’m half tempted to drive all the way to New York next year to see it but the tickets are so damn expensive and it’s a really long drive for a movie concert, particularly when I’d only get to see one film.
@@southernlady5085 you were right the first time, it's Old English, the lyrics for this track are from the poem The Mearas written by Philippa Bowens and translated into Old English (the language the choir are singing) for the films by David Salo.
For me, the second best moment after the charge of the Rohirrim in the 3rd movie. I still get the same feelings and goosebumps in this two scenes I got 20 years ago in the cinema.
When these movies are remade, we know we are at the end times. It os the only reason someone could possibly think they could o it better than Peter Jackson and his team.
It would need someone as invested and motivated as Jackson was back then, I don't think it's impossible, but very hard and would likely turn into a matter of taste of which you prefer anyway.
It's not fair to Aragon, because Theoden gets all the best lines. Aragon's speech at the Black Gate just isn't as inspiring. "Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn. _Forth Eorlingas!"_
It probably didn't help that an early take of Aragorn's speech was in the trailer for RotK, and everyone knew where and when he would deliver it. Viggo still nailed it. Theoden's lines weren't spoiled except by the books, and even then it was harder to predict because the screenwriters and editors had a habit of moving dialogue into new contexts (e.g. Eowyn's nightmare originally being Faramir's, Gandalf's words about Eowyn being given to Wormtongue).
Although the Lord of the Rings is a great trilogy and a great spectacle: it really annoyed me that they took so many liberties with the story. It is Theodan who tells Aragorn to ride out as he will not be taken like an old badger in a trap. Eomer does not come to the rescue he is in Helmsdeep. Gimli is separated from Aragorn and it is legolas who is with Aragorn.
fuck no. the fact that usually classical people crowd are a bunch of snobby fucks with a stick up their ass is precisely why people don't go to the theatre, especially young people: they don't feel welcomed and old fucks shush them and prevent them to enjoy music the way they want. also, if the energy in the room is to clap and shout mid performance, you fucking clap and fucking shout. also also, this isn't a chopin nocturne, nor a bartok sonata, nor a schoenberg dodecaphonic composition, this is one of the most popular movie pieces ever written, everybody know how it goes and there's no need to pay close attention to whatever aspect of the performance you're interested in. also also also, if i cheer and dance for metallica i should be able to cheer and dance for every musician or composer, classical ones too
They still should not clap mid performance, this is an orchestra not a rock concert.. its very inappropriate.. people came all the way to enjoy the live music not to be disturbed by the clapping and cheering....
You must have never been to a FILM concert. You’re right if this were a NORMAL concert. But at the beginning of every FILM concert, the conductor says they encourage cheering, booing, and even singing along if it were a musical.
@@lookaroundyou8108 I hear you, and before witnessing this live I wanted complete silence but honestly you could just feel the electricity in the crowd and everyone couldn't help but make noise for pure appreciation for the supremacy of their performance plus the love for the epic moments in the movies.. the crowd reaction added so much to this performance it was so beautiful to be a part of. Plus you have to remember very few would know of live orchestra outside of this, the majority were here for the trilogy but the musicians stayed professional, not to mention stayed elite in their execution, plus they were given epic standing ovations for their work each night
