I did not do that in the past but I like it. I don't know if it would out on salt rods but I have to build a light tackle rod for myself I will see how it looks and send you a picture in your e-mail.
Hello, I really enjoy watching your videos and moving forward. I wanted to ask do you have a method of putting guides on a rod and will they come out in a straight line? Always guides at the end come out of line, thank you in advance !!!
Hey there, I’m finally getting around to using the wrapper I got from you. Plan on doing invisible wraps. What kind of DNA do you use? It’s nasty stuff. Just want to make sure I don’t get any kind that interacts poorly with my finish. Also how much did you add to your epoxy? Do you mix epoxy first then add or mix all at the same time?
I just used the denatured alcohol that is available in the paint section of Lowe’s or Home Depot type stores. I did mix my epoxy first and then I added a drop or two at a time of denatured alcohol until the epoxy was runny. I would put it on pretty thin to get the look you want and then add a second coat (after the thin coat has dried) of epoxy mixed like you normally would as a finishing coat. I would highly recommend practicing this first before attempting a full build. It isn’t hard to do, but not quite as easy as a normal epoxy job. I hope that helps and I also hope you enjoy using the wrapper!

Are you asking about the thread? This is the thread I used: Superior Threads 13302-374 Kimono Mikimoto 100W Silk Thread, 1090 yd www.amazon.com/dp/B00KG9J4V6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_8.OqEb5QBX9RR
You possibly need a more natural thread color. Such as Fish Hawk Natural 212. You need to make your finish 1/3 each train, epoxy and DNA. Mix epoxy then add DNA. Apply it at tip of guide foot and let it push the air out towards tunnels. Let first coat cure. Make sure to cut off sharp points etc and then add a proper finish without DNA. After second coat cures, looks like glass. I do translucent wraps all the time.
That is pretty much what I did here except the thread I used was different (that could make a difference) and I left that small gap near the front of the guide to allow the epoxy an easier way to get in and for air to get out. I didn't put a second coat at full strength on, but I did mention that you would want to do that. Where I was having to move the thread around a little to get the epoxy under it could very well have been the silk I was using. I had read where others have used the kind I used in the video with good results. I'd say they went completely transparent which is what I was looking for, but I did have to manipulate the threads a little to get there. I definitely like the look! Pretty unique/unusual and should be a strong wrap/epoxy bond too 👍
looking forward to the next video.
That is really neat. I just ordered the thread, thank you.
Really like your metal packing tool.
It is the 4th one from the right in this set: www.harborfreight.com/6-piece-stainless-steel-carving-set-34152.html
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Can you use color preserver on the thread and it still be transparent?
No. If you use color preserver, the thread will look white instead of transparent.

Awesome, sounds great!
How do you find the strength of the wrap now that you tied it loosely? Debating if should do this on a MH bass rod
It should be more than strong enough for most any freshwater rod. The thread and epoxy become a fused unit somewhat similar to fiberglass.

Thanks for watching! I plan on doing a video about that subject next week 👍 perfect timing!
@@TheFishingHobby THANK YOU !!! I WILL WAIT
Here is the guide alignment video, hope it helps! ua-cam.com/video/EdvGwob0LKc/v-deo.html
Time to try out some fancy silk thread. Well, that is what I call pretty darn invisible. Does it get any better than that?👍💯
I don't know. You really can't tell the thread is there except on the guide foot if you really examine it up close. It is a neat look!

That looks incredible would confuse the hell out of people at the jetty
It is definitely a unique look. Silk is pretty strong and it wets out like fiberglass... should be a pretty strong set up really 👍
@@TheFishingHobby I've seen similar wraps on fly rods but never knew how they were done and watching you do this wrap it makes a lot of sense
