Thanks to everyone for all the support and love for the run! I really didn't expect the run would be received as well as it did :D Again, I've been absolutely honored by the amount of money raised to get the game into the marathon and opening Awful Block (which is always my favorite block to watch as well) has been a treat. I'm also glad authorblues joined me on commentary, he's an excellent any% runner of the game and his commentary is always excellent. And KungfuFruitcup's reactions to what was happening was absolutely on point. The minute after 33:40 just sums up the experience for me; great cutscenes, kffc trying to hold back her laugh and Biskit moving to the other side of the couch. The internet fame hasn't gotten to Biskit's head yet, he's still the same cuddly pup as before, but has received some extra pets for sure :D
After watching back through previous Bad Games Blocks, I'd be surprised if authorblues didn't show up. That aside, I think community awareness of this game and its siblings has been greatly increased thanks to various Let's Players. Great run, Grumpmeister
@@ShyRanger I heard someone joke that they're in a 4th timeline split from OoT where Link finds something and these games happen while he's tripping balls
bro. oh my god. fuck i hate being the rubbernecker but i am shocked and stoked to see you here pixlriffs. your videos really helped during the start of quarantine for me, listening to the survival guide helped my apartment feel a little more full
They really should though, it was them who gave the license to Phillips, so they should live with the consequences. It is an official Zelda game, wether you like it or not
"There are three things we can purchase in the shop, there are bombs, rope, and lamp oil" I think you mean "Lamp oil. Rope? BOMBS? You want it? It's yours my friend as long as you have enough rubees!" No wait, wrong Zelda CD-i game...
Hypothetically, the Harkinian duology (Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon) would take place after The Adventure of Link, but realistically, yeh, they take place in a different weirder offshoot altogether
Ah, CD-i Zelda. Source of so many of my childhood internet memories through youtube poops. I can still recite them all word for word. What a great run, entertaining runner and commentary
Saw this in my feed and my immediate reaction was: "WHY would you do this to yourself?!" Champ for suffering through Gamelon for everyone's enjoyment =D
Ngl I really like the idea of getting a preview of the next boss's abilities and a hint on how to defeat them before you fight them. Essentially turning it into a puzzle, I'd really like it if a better zelda game used that idea
Runner introduction starts at 0:27
Run starts at 2:12
Commentary is provided by authorblues
Kungfufruitcup is host

Great run, Grumpmeister
'if you were to print out the piece of paper with the zelda timeline, it's on the back'
excellent answer from the couch
My joking answer is that Link dreamed this and the other CD-i games while asleep in BOTW, and they scared him so much he fianlly woke up.
And it's written in crayon.
@@ShyRanger I heard someone joke that they're in a 4th timeline split from OoT where Link finds something and these games happen while he's tripping balls
Shoutout to Biscuit on the couch. Best couch at a GDQ yet 😂
bro. oh my god. fuck i hate being the rubbernecker but i am shocked and stoked to see you here pixlriffs. your videos really helped during the start of quarantine for me, listening to the survival guide helped my apartment feel a little more full
Friend of the runner here! the proper spelling of the pup's name is Biskit. 😉
Wand of Gamelon? On original hardware?
I too like to live dangerously.
Nintendo won't enshrine this game in Zelda canon because Miyamoto is a coward
They really should though, it was them who gave the license to Phillips, so they should live with the consequences. It is an official Zelda game, wether you like it or not
@@youngtoonfish6891 🌿⚗️ Seems good to me.
Love how Zelda just casually breaks the girl's mirror so she would stop looking at herself
I love the loud ass buzzing after every cutscene lol. It’s like the system is trying desperately to process what’s going on 😂
The system is letting out an “uuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh” in disbelief
Me, dying of laughter: YOU’VE KILLED MEEEEEE
AGDQ: Good.
Grumpy cat is all I could think of when I saw that cut scene lol
If you don't hear from me in a month, send D I N N E R
The perfect speedrun doesn't exi-
well thats a familiar face
not the speedrun we asked for, but absolutely the speedrun we deserved. Thank you Grumpmeister for your sacrifice.
Easily the best incentive game in years
"There are three things we can purchase in the shop, there are bombs, rope, and lamp oil"
I think you mean "Lamp oil. Rope? BOMBS? You want it? It's yours my friend as long as you have enough rubees!"
No wait, wrong Zelda CD-i game...
"Sorry Zelda, this is the wrong game! Come back when you become...mmmm.....richer!"
I can't believe the mad lad played this on a real console. So glad this incentive got met.
I've always held a special place in my heart for "You've killed me. Good." I'm glad to see the Zelda CDi community agrees.
Friendly reminder that they donated 160k for this
Worth it ngl
everyone: Hands are hard to draw.
Wand of Gamelon: Hands are hard to draw.
Wand of Gamelon: but that won't stop me from trying!
Mad props to the runner, it's extremely difficult not to act out the cutscenes while they're playing
Dog switches side at 34:30
I noticed he moved, and needed to know this. Thank you!
The soundtrack is straight fire. Did not expect that!
Hypothetically, the Harkinian duology (Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon) would take place after The Adventure of Link, but realistically, yeh, they take place in a different weirder offshoot altogether
This game literally moved alot of Zelda games out of the way and climbed near to the top of my list. Legit!
I salute to the brave members of the Zelda CDi community. Thanks a lot for this speedrun, this is what we need to forget 2020.
"You dare bring light to my lair!?"
These cutscenes....I can't look away.
THey're the anti-Hanna Barbera. So much needless, grotesque animation. Wonderous!
The "scrub every room in the castle" dialogue is referenced in Hyrule Warriors. It felt a bit out of place, and I now know why.
47:50 crows, but they're... seagulls??? This game is so... unique, I have no other words to describe it.
45:03 You're correct, the sword won't hurt anyone friendly - but they don't know that, do they?
It might just be me, but I think the music in this game is very cool
It's pretty groovy!
The witch boss fight theme is great
"i wonder what's for dinner" the single greatest quote from a video game ever. Ah, the memes, the horrible memes.
Best Zelda game. Called Zelda. Stars Zelda.
This was so hype, I almost forgot it was all remote. Excellent stuff!
58:12 the runner finally selects “Help”
*The wolf lion grabs the bird and makes it fried chicken and eats it
*
Kungfufruitcup: What.. ._.
Grumpmeister: XD
Bless anyone willing to play this game at all... I can’t imagine knowing it inside and out like our hero here does! 😅
Given how hard this game is, that run was very impressive.
34:34 best scene in the game where biscuit moves to the other side of the couch
I like to imagine when the co commentator talks its actually the dog
I love this.
EDIT: The animation has a weird psychedelic charm once you get used to it but the voice acting...wow.
the part where the commentator started defending the speedrun was so funny lmao
Oh Boyy, Cant Wait To Bomb Some DINNER
"You've speedrun meeeee...!"
"Good!"
Doesn't get much better than the CDI Zelda games. Love it!
55:30 - "There are dozens of us. DOZENS!" Love the Arrested Development reference :-D
The pupper is best co-commentator
This game is actually on the Star Trek timeline.
My brother owned a CDI i can still remember we played together this game love the music :)
Ah, a Zelda run. Zelda is always a masterpiece of gaming.
Shoutout to Biskit.❤
The part with the Iron Knuckle is so funny! "Let's get out of here" lol
Only watching this because I remember watching the review by AVGN, so now I want to see more.
42:52 Yoooooou‘ve killed meeee..... Good
Looks like the same animation company as "Press Your Luck" in the 1980s.
Awesome! The whole uses rupees for ammo for certain weapons is pretty genius, they should definitely use that in botw2
Ah yes, one of the singularly most cursed games ever created.
53:30 who wouldn’t forget that iconic gaming line? ......anyone?....
The CD-I games are an offshoot timeline that happen after the original Zelda cartoon.
Why does ganon look like a studio ghibli character
Is this the first ever run with a dog on the couch? So cute!
Finally the real best Zelda game gets represented in gdq
Ah, CD-i Zelda. Source of so many of my childhood internet memories through youtube poops. I can still recite them all word for word. What a great run, entertaining runner and commentary
3:20 Impa and Zelda sailed to their destination! What is this Windwaker?!
Alright guys, seriously, who wants Links life, *Wakes Up* "What happened?" Nothing, we were about to have a feast!
The soundtrack slaps so hard it can cook a chicken.
A power glove!
It's so bad.
42:52
In case you want to watch the best cutscene ever.
It's not even a Legend of Zelda but just a Zelda, because unlike the "other" games, Zelda is not a legend - she actually shows up!
Always makes me laugh to see this game, good job guys!
i loved this game and faces of evil as a kid. they were so hard!
I lost sleep watching this last night.
I'm losing sleep again tonight.
I feel like some DINNER!!!
Saw this in my feed and my immediate reaction was: "WHY would you do this to yourself?!"
Champ for suffering through Gamelon for everyone's enjoyment =D
It doesn't feel the same without the crowd of people behind the runners.
I love how confused the announcer gets after every cutscene.
My biggest question is why do the crows at 47:48 sound like seagulls?
"Yeah, thanks, I hate it."
This is where the fun begins
Wow this is cool
I never would have thought this game would have a speed run.
Oh no the CDI Strikes agian lol
This is one of the few videos I wish I could hit the like and thanks I hate it buttons!
Link sounds and acts like *Sonic.* ...Why? How? Stop it!
Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuusssseee me, princess!
I'm...just in awe...
theres something very charming about the cutscenes in all their jank. glad the game got run!
I love this MS Paint project that somehow went too far.
Lol they actually played this game.
Amazing voice acting xD also interesting that the game has better graphics than the cut scenes
I watched this while sick and I was genuinely sorta terrified thinking I was having an actual fever dream.
This is something I didn’t know I needed
Thank you for wearing my T-shirt design! :)
I didn't even know they speedrunned the CDi games, nice.
That was.... something....
The legend of the CDI
Ngl I really like the idea of getting a preview of the next boss's abilities and a hint on how to defeat them before you fight them. Essentially turning it into a puzzle, I'd really like it if a better zelda game used that idea
The purest zelda game. What a great game.😂
"Let's get out of here." gets me every time.
Such a nice game to watch before bed.
I know in which timeline this game takes place: When Ganon took part in a bad voice acting contest and wins the final round. :)
I was not expecting that.. Then again I was not expecting anything so it doesn't count.
