    Great video again Chris and glad you like the BST Rapid TEK wheels! When you get a moment, please weigh a used Hook-up vs. a new one. The used typically several lbs. less (or more!) Also, for each 1 lb. of rotating mass that is removed from the wheels, it's the equivalent of removing 5-7 lbs. of static weight from the bike... so 5 lbs. total is like making you bike 25 lbs. lighter :)

      @@djinnzukii671 All speeds and they help more the faster you go - You can feel the wheels in your first 10 feet of rolling on them for the first time. They also hold the land speed record for a sit-on motorcycle at an amazing 311.94 MPH in certified LSR competition. Google that speed for more info.

      @@djinnzukii671 You are speaking of MOI. Even if two wheels weigh exactly the same, the wheel with more weight removed from the rim will be easier to accelerate and turn. BST has the lightest MOI (Mass Moment of Inertia) of any wheels on the market. If you go here, you can read about an independent test from a German bike mag: blog.brocksperformance.com/aftermarket-wheel-shootout-feat-bst-wheels-by-ps-magazine/

    Would love to see a dyno comparison after swapping the wheels and removing that weight from the rotating mass.

    • @BrockDavidson

      Carbon Wheels don't make more power, they make the bike accelerate quicker using the same power. The gains don't really show up as horsepower on the dyno. They show up as a quicker/faster bike that rides smoother and requires less effort to turn in the real world. They are considered an unfair advantage in most road racing organizations because a rider using them can accelerate quicker, brake later and is less fatigued at the end of the race.

      @@BrockDavidson most of the bans are safety based afaik unless you have evidence to the contrary.
      Carbon cracking on a roadcourse being an issue. For drags it's nowhere near an issue given huge mileage difference between a drag season and a roadcourse season.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson 4 роки тому +2

      @@jediknight1294 The bans are political at the highest levels, which trickles down to the lower racing organizations (AKA, It's easier for Moto America to adopt FIM rules than it is create and police their own etc...). Of course, they are no problem for WERA or Track Day operators. Not only do we have proof of the bias from the top, but we are working on a resolution - upcoming announcements forthcoming. 100% incorrect on your Roadracing vs. Drag from a stress standpoint. High-level road race bikes place far more stress on the front wheel during hard braking than the rear wheel experiences under hard acceleration. Drag bikes, especially the Pro Street class, have 700 hp/350 ft-lbs bikes with 700+ lb bike and rider combinations that race on a track that is quite literally covered in glue. The front-wheel needs to be able to absorb 150+ MPH wheelies with less than an inch of travel with basically no rebound or compression dampening. Many BST drag bikes use the wheels for 10+ years. Road racing has used the 'too expense' excuse for years, which is pretty silly now that carbon wheels cost less than magnesium. They also use the 'difficult tell if they are damaged after a crash' excuse - more valid for certain, but today's CT Scanning technology as well as natural frequency testing also debunk's this mindset. Did you know that BST places an RFID chip in each wheel that quickly tells it's original specifications, to easily detect potential flaws after a crash? Both the 7 TEK and RapidTEK wheels conform to the TUV StVZO No 287 standard for fatigue cycling, and JASO T203-85 for impact testing... using a single wheel... metal wheels use a separate wheel for each test. These tests include: Bending, cornering and alternating torsional fatigue tests. The rear drag specified torsional test load is 1030 Nm for 1 million cycles. Please click here for more technical info: blackstonetek.com/technology/ and here to watch a carbon wheel deflect under impact, but return to it's natural shape without losing pressure ...where a metal wheel will bend/crack/lose pressure. The carbon wheel is far safer: ua-cam.com/video/LyTNFK8P8LQ/v-deo.html

      @@BrockDavidson I was stating what you were basically regarding stress and wear. A drag season is going to be different types of stress On wheels than a roadcourse season, active use amounts will Be much lower. Iv had wheels essentially shot in 2 track seasons and drag wheels last as long as I ran the bike and afaik they are still on the thing 10 years later.
      Im really interested in the allegations of corruption given what I know of why the bans were put in place by the FIA.
      In most of The stuff I did it was a cost cap issue for fairness in lowish level clubman racing. Given the price drop in the last 16 years for. Carbon that could probably be revisited now. I know that's been a big. Consideration as racing gets more and more expensive. Certainly in the UK at least. Thank god the proposed eu rules can't affect us now..... (an insurance change that would have killed track bikes tbh)
      As for high level I remember the original discussions based on safety being about HOW CF breaks and protecting people. Having dealt with shattered arrows on the battlefield I can see why that was a concern. Been out of racing for a while because of health and haven't worked with CF wheels for about 8 years.
      Have had multiple sets on racing wheelchairs and have had CF frame chairs and have had problems so wouldn't run CF as a daily hard use option though the weight drop and handling characteristics are lovely.
      At some point il have to talk to you about a build idea for getting back out to the Dragstrip now I'm in a wheelchair pretty much full time. Pick your brains on the challenges of a drag trike and whether it would be viable.

Also, what's your tip or trick to ensure your rear wheel is straight so not to put a lateral load on the rear wheel at launch?
