      @@spaceman2073 It really feels like that. The fact that Wormwood has NO unique interactions with any Lunar content still amazes me. Like they added him, and then had an entire Lunar arc that forgot about him.

    I think it would be better if picking a side had some more profound effects on the gameplay aside from just making the world harder, like imagine if Wagstaff gave you a blueprint for a machine that replaces your sanity with lunacy in a very large radius when you turn it on, so siding with him would essentially allow you to turn off sanity, or killing the Ancient Fuelweaver for Charlie would make her stop attacking you in the darkness. They should refine the updates themselves too, fixing the ancient portal causes things like acid rain and falling boulders in the caves, but you have to go find a nightmare fissure to fight the ink blights, so I think it would make more sense if brightshades only spawned on the lunar island, with the rifts being the only things that affect the mainland

      This is actually a great idea, and even if I havent actually gotten far enough in DST to experience this end-game content, I can imagine the pain of just the normal events. Adding this would make activating the events 10 times more worth the effort of dealing with them

    Deadly Brightshades kinda feel like Disease 2: Lunar Boogaloo TBH.
    Maybe instead of hijacking gardens, the gestalts should try to claim chunks of the forest for their own? Make the forests more hazardous, get trees growing faster and more often, maybe making unique hedge walls you can't break through without enhanced gear, disrupt you from burning the whole thing down, become navigation issues in general until you go into the forest to kill them.

      Haha imagine thinking the new threats would actually be good, Klei have lost their touch when it comes to those a long time ago, from the ocean to from beyond the threats are just cheap jabs at the player meant to annoy not actually be a challenge.

      Yeah no if it ends up like the ocean I'll stop playing the game, there's so much stuff this game could get improvements on meanwhile we get half assed updates and are told to wait for the next ones... Like what was the point of acid rain if it barely does anything and it got nerfed to the ground.

    personally i'm gonna say that i'm enjoying those updates a lot. I wouldn't say the new content is something, that takes too much effort to get to, as it is not something you get to by doing all those steps like lunar event, archives, crab king etc., but rather it is another step in game progression, so that CC is not the end. Now when it comes to how problematic it is once unlocked, i can agree that the brightshades attack base plants too often and that should be changed. However, there is already a way to stop them from raiding base plants by planting everything around already existing brightshade effectively removing all downsides that come with opening rifts. Now, when it comes to items, i'd say that's a good thing they aren't much stronger then already existing items. Remember, that Klei is looking for a way, to make game more challenging for experienced players, so if they were, to give us something even stronger then darksword, they would have to also buff all enemies in the game or add something even stronger then brightshades in order to keep the game hard. Now i wanna also refer to few points you made about new items:
    - staff doesn't deal much damage - yes, but it's still good against enemies like moonstorm birds or FW minions + it is a cheap ranged weapon if you want to aggro something on water, also, i assume that having strong ranged weapon would remove challenge from a lot of fights so that's why ranged weapons were never strong to being with
    - new sword is weaker then dark sword when used by Wolfgang - yes, but for the exact same reason, it deals more damage when used by Wes, Willow or Wendy, again, there are use cases for it, and some players will definitely go for it
    - the scythe has better alternatives - not everyone switches characters and the game main desing shouldn't assume you are gonna use every possible character, and generally not everyone focuses on making farms for everything before killing FW
    - umbralla exists to protect from acid rains - yes, but it still has other uses, such as lasting longer or being equippable with celestial crown for passive sanity gain
    Of course, by the end of the day, there are still a lot people who are not enjoying those updates, so we should probably just wait and see, how Klei will expand upon this content in the future

    Well 3 months in... We found ways to control brightshade spawns and new powerful WARBIS gear is getting included. So this turned out to be good

    I think one of the biggest issues these updates are facing is Klei’s apprehensions to make anything stronger than a dark sword. The point of Terraria’s hard mode is that you get much stronger weapons. Both the shadow scythe and the bright shade sword deal, on average, the same as a dark sword, so there isn’t really a point in getting either.

      Same issue is with the trident, it's so useless I have never ever seen anyone use it outside of showcase videos or a glermz stream, what were they thinking when they added that piece of shit boss called crab king, made him an atrocity to fight, that gives you a blueprint for the trident and had the audacity to make so it's worthless on the land and a reskinned dark sword with a niche ability on the ocean... Like c'mon klei I've seen you do better, look at shipwrecked's trident, on the ocean you get awarded with 102 damage a hit.

      ​@@asdfxl3346they already do destroy bosses, content shouldn't be balanced around the fact that some characters can benefit a lot more from them than others, that means that either the other characters deserve a buff or these ones a nerf, instead of handicapping the gear itself.

      1. This is not terraria, nor is it an expensive game play that if you rather play terraria. 2. It does do more than a dark sword against the new enemies.
      it also does this without making other weapons obsolete, If it just did more flat damage there won’t be a reason to ever make a ham bat and save on resources nor use a dark sword/glass cutter for more damage vs traditional enemies/bosses. It baffles me that you think this is one of Kleis “biggest issues”…

      It’ll pretty much make the raid bosses look like deerclops if that was the case, at that point why play anyone when wolfgangs damage multiplier can pretty much trivialize the entire boss lineup?

    Glad I finally took the time to watch this. Your take on these updates is 100% spot on. It’s like they gave us a hardmode without any particularly good reason to enable it. The new weapons are nice but hardly worth having to deal with brightshades as constantly as we do. It’s a weird limbo to be in this year, and I sincerely hope that Klei re-evaluates their update schedule in future roadmaps so that they won’t leave players with an unbalanced game for long periods of time.

      Admittedly I have to concede an eventual full-on hardmode if executed correctly could be the best thing to ever happen to the game since hardmode was already the best part of Terraria, but as is we'll just have to see.

    They can't just pump out as much content as Terraria does to supplement these current features... They've committed to doing from all the new visuals animations and more complex mechanics overtime as they've been working on the game, so clearly none of this currently is finished nor concluded. Assuming it's same thing with the ocean, everything is set up for eventual new additions.

Thus better to get something out than nothing at all to prep for future while having to make update shorts, skins and numerous bug fixes across all platforms. Big L comment, big L complaint video.

    I think it’s safe to not jump to conclusions yet. Klei is obviously building up to soemthing. I think fuelweaver and lunar champion are not gonna actually be the final bosses of the game. They wouldn’t add these items if they wouldn’t have a use in the future. Just my opinion though

    Honestly I really like the new updates, it kinda feels like Terrarias Hardmode where a bunch of more endgame content is locked behind killing a specific boss. But I will agree that the new gear definitely feels like it is quite weak, and the Brightshade items vastly outclass the Void items, why does killing one of the hardest bosses in the game and having to fight some shadow dudes that can kill you in very few hits just give you a football helmet with sanity drain, the Shadow Reaper is definitely one of my favorite weapons and a very unique one but I just never use it because im forced to wear a certain type of armor that I dont like using. Terraria also does this with their set bonuses but there are way more armor sets and at least they aren’t a key difference to having an item from being meh or really good.

      Klei clearly doesn't agree with it since if that was the case they would not implement the mechanic of Shadow Rift's boulder earthquakes to avoid structures. If this was leaded the way u presented they wouldn't care about players' bases and just let there be a chance for these boulders to destroy ur progress.
      Klei does know about megabases casuals and players that do want to have easier time. That's why they did add a preventing options for every threat there is. Boulders? - We will just make them leave structures alone. Wildfires? - Sure, have a flingomatic or a Knobbly Tree if you do want to automate it. This applies to every threat.
      But Brightshades well... it speaks for itself. If the enhanced gestalts do not have a target they will eventually harass you in whatever u are doing and u cannot prevent it unless u play with world's settings which is well. That's the reason of why Brightshades are just pain in the butt.
      Everything else due to these updates is kind of fine I do agree with previous point. Brightshades are just straight up bad design by definition

      I think klei made rifts spawn far from structures and boulders not spawn on structures because there is no way to counter then from destroying your base.
      The deadly brightshade are kinda like stronger houndwaves that block your way to your farm instead of chasing you.
      They are also easily counterable by a houndius shootius or 2, so if you find killing them to be annoying you can automate it with 1 item

      That's true. U can technically counter it by Houndiusses' but mind u that brightshades and rifts may just spawn everywhere so getting like 10 shootiuses just to protect north, east, west and south of ur megabase will be a huge ass resource drain not to mention that before u get that u need other methods to get rid of them.
      I do backlash the argument of comparing them to hound waves. It's not the same in any case. If you are mentioning this already then mind u that anenemies exist, they are working on their own - by that they also kind of automate the Hound Waves. Brightshades are not predictable as hound waves. Hound waves are being announced by the world easily u have plenty of time to prepare or move to designated location to protect urself with previously mentioned anenemies.
      Brigthshades can come from any max power rift that may come everywhere, it's not predictable u can only estimate whenever it will come to bully u due to rift flare notification. Plus I do not mention the fact that a lot of megabasers would rather get rid of obscure contraptions to just get rid of brightshades, not mentioning the fact that Houndiusses won't kill Brightshades off-screen (due to area not being loaded) while they can invade u off-screen which makes more than no sense.
      Let me mention shadow rifts there, compared to that the enemies that actually deal planar damage come only in form of the threats that u can mainly encounter if u are willing to. Boulders won't destroy ur base, u can protect urself with umbralla due to acid rains, hell yeah u even get to benefit from renewable nitre, if u need/want to farm new materials - sure go there finish ur business. Done. Lunar rifts are predatory and u cannot prevent this from occuring compared to every threat there is.
      As I stated earlier and I will stand with it. U cannot prevent it from being a painful experience this threat will be on you all the time despite your efforts. and even if that would be the case of you protecting everything with shootios'es then u'd have to keep the area loaded for them to even attack. (No Ocuvil does not keep the area loaded [for clarity]). It does not make any sense from the perspective and standards they have made earlier. Aaand argument "game is progressing" cannot be used right there since shadow rifts are a straight up follow up update of From Beyond and well In my opinion they developed it perfectly, a good event to let players stockpile stuff for possible new mobs that would be resistant to normal damage type weapons. I don't know, I just don't view it the way you do. Recently I even created two world speedrun the process of each one to choose opposite sides and honestly the brightshades were the only thing that was annoying in any matter. The updates were good I can see why they went this way with em but Brightshades are - once again. Straight up bad design. They could have done it better. I mean it does not apply to only me. A good example of it could be Glermz that recently (if im not mistaken) lost the Wanda world to brightshade randomly due to it blending with everything else in the middle of his megabase (there's a clip circulating somewhere on his channel). but once again, I do view it as a problem. The only one so far if it comes to From Beyond.

    Great video and i agree with you, I think I would have liked the last two updates better if both had been merged and made into one big update, if I make sense
    i really like this game and i know Klei told us that it wasn't gonna be a big update but like come on, i find more interesting the character refresh updates tbh...

    I'm thinking they should balance it such that the items you get from the shadow event should make the celestial champion easier, and vice versa. Something like the brightshade sword doing significant extra damage vs the fuelweaver in addition to shadow creatures, and some other item for the champion. It is also definitely a hassle that the items you get largely only solve problems involved in getting said items. There need to be other problems, other reasons to get the items other than "to make getting the items easier".

    If there would be an incentive to go through all this it would be way better. For instance if there would be more stuff trying to kill you after you have survived one year. As a mediocre player with 400 hours i never did any optional bosses besides bee queen because there is literally not a single reason to do them and you risk getting your world deleted for nothing. The game really lacks more powerful enemies who are out to get you.

    8:26 This is entirely why in my day 1300+ world I'm just refusing to activate either rifts. I don't see the point in the current state of the game. "It's more trouble than it's worth" is exactly how I feel. Looking forward to the other parts of this update arch that hopefully make it worth it.
    Counterplay is a big part of things too. The patch that changed it so rifts won't spawn in the middle of a base and destroy everything was great, and I'm baffled as to why some people were upset at Klei for changing that. They love to cite "uncompromising", but any other world threat has counterplay. Wildfires? Base in the oasis, above-average trees, lureplant bait, flingos, luxury fan, or just stay away from whatever you care about because they only spawn around the player. Antlion? Murder her, appease her, or just get out of base when you're given ample warning because again, the destruction only happens around the player. The SW volcano? Appease it, base in the volcano, go to a linked RoG or Hamlet world for the season, or again, just get out of your base. The rifts offered nothing. Before the patches, regardless of where you were, as I understand it a rift could appear in the middle of your base and destroy a bunch of stuff with nothing you could do to stop it from appearing or make it go away once it does appear. How is that fun? I'm all for more world threats, but give the player options to deal with it and protect the bases they care about. Random destruction with no player agency is the opposite of fun.

    I feel like the gear should provide more damage and defense considering their point in progression. Especially with the previous options such as football helms and dark swords being much cheaper and providing similar benefits to the new gear.

      It does give you more damage, this guy forgot to mention the lunar set bonus of 10% more damage and +5 planar damage in the brightsword. And void set also gives a stacking bonus of +4 (max 20) on the void scythe but its lost if you get hit

      @@Kroban_d4c Thats still a very minor upside considering the amount of effort and problems you have to deal with after activating either of the events. The Brightshades are really annoying and are for the most part not worth the effort to get the new gear and materials. The shadow enemies arent as bad, but still the acid rain is really annoying. Im sure klei will add more to these 2 events but for now I don't think its entirely worth it to seek them out.

    The most fun I have had in DST was before the Sea update, not that it is bad, but I loved the game for being simple as it was, even though it still had a lot of content, it was as if it was more casual back then.

      I think this too sometimes, I miss when it was more casual and there wasn't as many updates
      At the same time it makes sense why there is, because theres more people when it comes to the multiplayer version, more things are gonna be done and the game will eventually get repetitive, It's good they're adding things into the game for those already familiar with it and just looking for something new with the game, but I still miss when it was more simple

    15:02 its just another option to farming resources and I like this new scythe I will use it because I never did this lure plant thing so it's an good option for who want fast gathering without swapping character and building a giant farm

    I didnt finish the video but, did you really blame Klei for introducing planar damage/resistance before (onviously) they add à boss that use those mechanics ? -_-
    Are you aware that they did the same with the first lunar thing before all of the tasks we need to do for Celestial Champion. I mean, those upgrades are not great but pls, do not be a D.
    Therefore, before critisize the brightshade mecanics, learn about how they react with the "domesticated plant" mecanics.

    Yeah, on one of my worlds that i made to catch up to the new content after my little break, i did all the stuff and got caught up. After killing both endgame bosses, realizing console was bugged so you can’t even activate the rifts legitimately and then just turning wild rifts on. More often then not i found myself constantly having to deal with brightshades just so i could exist in base. It was a multiplayer world so whenever i was out trying to get something done i would hear one of my friends go “witness the flowers are back!” And stop me from doing anything so i can go back and help him so that way we don’t burn through the durability of our gear immediately. That reminds me, getting all that gear is a pain in the ass! Every brightshade wave you get 3 brightshades and they drop 2 of what we need. That is 6 petals. One of the items needs 6! Even with construction amulets you can’t get a full set so i resorted to the tried and true deconstruction-construction method. THATS NOT EVEN MENTIONING WHAT ITS LIKE ON SAID MULTIPLAYER WORLD WITH 2 OTHER PEOPLE. The shadows however wasn’t terrible with us scraping by just to have some of the items. We had a Wilson and had killed wearpig in anticipation. We turned some of the dreadstone to pure horror and we found and killed the inkblights and with a construction amulet we could afford enough for almost two of us. Keep in mind we can respawn them every two days and we had a sinkhole close to a spawn location we were actually pretty good. But theres like no reason to go the rift down there or at least for us. Go down there once for the novelty, get like 40 pure horror somehow and we’re slowly very slowly losing pure horror with each inkblight kill. But the problem is that you are trapped in the infinite cycle of having to kill these guys with there own stuff so you aren’t vaporized and can get it done quick, then have to do the other with the stuff you just got because their stuff is low and then you can maybe consider doing a boss but now your in debt to the gods beyond and you have to kill the brightshade with brightshade gear or kill the inkblights with shadow gear depending on what you did. The least they could do to make me want to use this shit is by giving it insanely high durability, let the void robes be repaired with sewing kits and the bright gear with moon gleams OR GIVE THEM THE SAME EFFECT AS THE DREAD STONE. Just something to make it not dissolve after you just got it and then its even more reasonable to make the brightshades spawn less. Ruins and lunar island are good candidates for planar.

    Yes these updates are setting the stage but I agree that the rewards are lackluster.
    Here is my pitch to make them worth it.
    The umbrella provides walking cane buff or some kind of shadow teleport. Like the lazy explorer.
    The scythe just deals way more damage and swings in an ark dealing AOE similar to the way new deerclops only deals damage in front of him. It could one shot spiders and other small mobs. That would be cool that would make it worth it.
    Give the lunar tools infinite durability. At this point in the game you have made it so far I feel it's a fair reward not having to grind anymore gold tools
    The armour sets. I have two ideas. They either provide full protection from the opposite element. So say I kill fuel weaver and go the shadow route. My fight with CC would be much smoother due to his attacks being lunar allegiance. Or the opposite way around. The second is to just provide stun resistance like a Thulecite crown or the vortex backpack thing from Hamlet
    That's my pitch anyway and the only unique way I could see these events being worth it on their own

      The umbrella should destroy all falling stuff, not just rain or acid rain, would be useful for CC, FW, Toadstool, rocks and boulders in the caves, and probably more that I can't get off my mind, my point is just we don't need stuff that fully replaces other items.

    What was my biggest gripe is just how rushed these updates always are out of beta, all the good ideas on the forums for the boulders, umbralla, etc. Have been ignoring for... (I'm sorry) half assed fixes that make the new mechanics non existant in the big picture, and the new gear is just... Klei, we don't need reskinned log suits and football helmets and darkswords and okay tools, the only thing that is good from those kits are the brightshade bombs and even then their radius makes them super punishing to use.
    And please don't take it the wrong way, a lot of suggestions on the forums are horrible and would ruin the game in one way or another (still looking at that marble shrub nerf) but surprisingly for these updates the ideas were good, at least some of them.

    Like if they extended the range of the weapons or have more uses so that way long term it be a preferred option and tweak the plant ghost so that they only go for plants not moved by the player or have a prehard mode item that repel like the.... holy shit are shadow lights going to get more use

    The only way I think these updates will be useful in the future is if the next update relies on more monsters/bosses that deal planar damage and also have more resources that can only be harvested by the new tools. But that implies in a really really big update (like another world besides the main land and the caves), which is very, very unlikely that it is going to happen. There is also a lot of free space in the sea so.... there are a lot of possibilities, all we can do is expect for the best.

    You missed something about the balance.
    You said that it doesn't make sense to seek the endgame planar armor because you're making a problem for yourself, but it's also that you can complete the shadow progression, get planar weapons and armor, then have Ana advantage against the entire lunar progression.

    I think they should really rework planar to be something more like glass cutter vs shadow mobs where brightshade armor protects way more againts shadow alinged mobs but doesnt do as much againts other lunar mobs same with the staff, sword and shoevel and vice versa with shadow robe, hood and scythe

    I do agree with this whole "why bother" mentality, but remember the first update of return of them? it felt just like this, a super out of the way thing you could do that served no purpose, the sea was empty, you could only fish or go to lunar island and for what? only rock fruit Ig, but after a ton of updates it really feels like it's part of the game now, This 2 new endgame ambiance updates are planting the seeds for something amazing, and yes this is coping.

      @@antynomity You could make the same argument for caves, the only reason you would ever go to caves in dst/ds is for ruins and lightbulbs and maybe moggles, in dst there's the archives now, but that's just like bootleg ruins, it is cool but after a while it seems underwhelming considering the lore importance of the place, but that's about it, yeah there are other stuff in the caves but you usually never go to get stuff like rock lobsters or farm bats or slurtles for some reason...

    Klei over there trying to add smoothly integrated hardmode updates to DST but segmented and unfun, while I'm just over here wondering why some of the more obviously interesting ways to make the game harder are being totally ignored, like adding an ocean variant of a giant that can spawn somewhere in the ocean, is always slowly moving, and can be tracked with some fancy hydrophone attachment to your boat that listens for its sounds. It could produce a huge whirlpool that traps you from sailing away if you get too close, and then a cool not-garbage un-crab-king-like ocean boss fight ensues that is all-or-nothing; you lose your boat and everything on it if you fail, or get ocean-taming goodies if you win. The insanely high-risk high-reward approach would result in the beast usually being avoided like a terrible hazard, which would literally be the point. The leviathan spawns in somewhere on the ocean and you have to adjust course or position to avoid it as its primary gimmick, with a cool leviathan boss fight being its secondary purpose that is the lesser of the two ways to engage with it. This would solve the problem of players finding bosses like malbatross or king crab annoying and pointless, because a leviathan boss would be *designed* to be avoided the way wildfires or antlion sinkholes already are (but less headache-inducing and unfair than sinkholes obviously) since once you have its loot, that's exactly what you'd be doing anyway since you don't need duplicate drops.
    I want updates that are less tedious hoops to jump through and more stuff that challenges you by adding ever-changing dynamism to the world that forces you to adjust your current seasonal plans as opposed to throwing a giant at you that forces you to halt everything on the spot and deal with it before you're allowed to continue with what you actually wanted to be doing. The rifts were close to being the right idea, but I think Uncompromising Mode's new weather update with spring tornadoes you can track and might even need to engage to alter their course and protect your base is a much better approach. It's fun to see something on the map, knowing it's powerful and terrible and *out there* and being forced to plan for engaging with it, as opposed to it either being thrown in your face immediately like a difficult surprise-obstacle that CANNOT be ignored even once, or being some long-winded adventure that needs tons of prep to get loot that's barely any better than what you were already using to prep for said adventure.

    Me and my friend (my friend is literally a noob and plays for 1 week)have activeted rifts since the start from world opotions.Ngl we did die a lot of times,we did rollback a lot BUT the added difficulty is amazing even my friend can handle 1-2 brightshades and it is so fun to explore this new rifts with the Goal to get this new gear,ALSO I LOVE the new armor progretion you go fron wood armor to football helmets to marble suits to shadow armor to brightshade armor then you use the brightshade smasher to free the Nightmare werepig and get dreadstone and if you want you can always go to the ruins to skip some steps.I will say that acid rain in a new wordl is hell and you should tutn it off but i think if they rebalance everything these rifts could be a thigh that is always on

    I agree with almost all of this. The Brighshades are an absolute plague, with reliable way of containment or dealing with - even a couple of Houndius Shootius don't do the trick - and I find myself wondering "why did I enable this whole thing again?" more often than not. The lunar rift items themselves aren't all that good either.
    The cave rift stuff is marginally better, because the new shadow trio is at least fun to fight. And the scythe - I actually think it's amazing. That fast harvest is a god-send. Now if we could only have a fast soil-till, too, with maybe a Beefalo being involved, but I digress...
    All in all - new content is always hype, and hopefully they can build upon all of this. But as it stands - yeah, it's meh. Annoying more than anything.

    The comparison with Terraria is really perfect, like in many ways. DST is a REALLY old concept (as far as video games go) and it's clear that the developers are trying to innovate the original idea especially the "what to do post (x)" part of the game, but to do that they found themselfes in the same place of Terraria where to get the cool stuff you must go into the Hard Mode. The big difference is that Terraria major content updates have come at a far slower pace and with very little shown to the public each time, DST is on the opposite side of this: DST is like a game on early access where things are added piece by piece and a lot of weight is left in the hands of the community. We really just have to contribute throu beta, feedback and patiance

    this is exactly my issue, by enabling the rifts u can get cool stuff, but u aren't exactly forced to use them because u can do without them, there is no threat that would force me to get the planar sword, u know what i mean...
    so yeah... enabling the rifts = waste of time
    playing without rifts much better, u know what would be cool tho? if klei introduced a new threat to the non-rifts world that would force us to eventually go after the shadow/lunar tools

    I think the purpose of the planar damage and resistance is to not make the pre-planar bosses too easy.
    If they had added the new brightshade sword and it just deals more damage than the dark sword, then the enemies would just die quicker. With the planar mechanics they could split content so that you could still use dark swords for anything pre-planar for the most damage and saving brightshade items for anything in the future.

    Brigthsades are so annoying, you kill them because they are messing with your crops-base, and the very next day another wave spawn right there on the same spot.
    There should be 100% a way to prevent them spawning near your base, is not a viable solution to have your crop farm away from your base in the 1st place.

    your problem with brightshades has been solved hoorray (brightshades protect an area around them from spawning more brightshades, you can just fence a bunch of dragonfruits and after a brightshade takes over put plants around it, but far enough so it wont target you)

    My issue with this update is same as your's plus it feels like post plantera terraria - it so liniar, boring and lazy in terms of content: farm new boss event and teke new gear to farm next boss event for new gear and repeat. Only think you can do with new resourses is just craft new SET of gear. Would be amazing if you can craft something new for every character with that stuff or something similar. Like new gadgets for every class or maybe alternative quality for old items outsede from new crafting stations

    Havent tried the cave stuff yet, but i love the lunar stuff actually. I heavily disagree with the difficulty of getting the items. I find farming the helm and smasher waaaay easier than farming football helms and going to the ruins for a pick/axe. The staff is also extremely handy for a lot of situations, and the weapon is alright for people who wants a darksword without draining all their sanity, though we did usually use a glass cutter before already. The bombs though are just dumb in terms of materials required. They shouldnt have added the infused moonshards.

    I agree with all the points.. Terrors from below was the reason I quit the game.. Game gets boring after killing the bosses anyways and repetitive and doing the mediocre stuff after defeating final bosses just sounds like extra work for no reason.. I don't think all of this stuff makes the game more difficult.. It just makes it annoying to play and it's not even worth your time.. Simply useless items except for some and I'd have been happier with something that you really wanna get and is better than other items.. But it's not so game is pretty boring as it is right now.

    It could be just me but I believe that the early and mid game is still too boring to get through. I don't really like playing with other people because of how easy the game gets with the amount of damage 6 people deal to any boss and playing solo is even worse because the bosses that are nesecary to get to late game are made to be killed by 3 people excepr for celestial champion who in my opinion is a really great fight. I think touching up early/mid game is the way to go before adding extra postgame content.

    >50% of servers don't make it past autumn and judging by steam numbers most people drop the game after the first few sessions but Klei fixates on endgame content only a tiny handful of people will ever see or care about. Can't wait for the next update that adds the Shit Fart Lunar Lord and its respective drops of unattainable overly niche junk. The gradual emphasis on defeating big monsters and crafting weapons and armour out of their drops as the intended means of "progression" makes me think Klei has been side-eyeing Terraria a bit too much. The appeal of this game to the "casuals" (The majority of people who purchase the game) is the wacky critters, characters and biomes, the sandbox element; not putting yourself in harms way (unnecessarily) so you can craft a slightly more efficient means to kill the next batch of obnoxious gimmick mobs or god-forbid one of the increasing number of massive fuck-off health sponge bosses.

      I think the biggest issue was the change in boss health pools to compensate for the game being multiplayer. Some of the bosses and enemies have 3-5 times as much health, and it’s fine if you have 4 or 5 other people fighting the boss with you, but there’s no way to guarantee you have people to play with

      That's one of the issues with DST, it's just DS+ but without any real progression with half of the world (caves excluding ruins + the ocean) are negligible and fully useless and optional with barely any reward, even the lunar island where it's one of the best things about the ocean has barely any crafts when it's kinda a lunar equivalent of the ruins and most of them are very mediocre and the worst part you can't even prototype them, so you waste time mapping out the world to find the lunar island to get some mid loot while you could have just skipped half the caves, went to the ruins and get stacked for life, the gameplay progression is the same as DSA just with some disconnected sprinkles here and there, some good bosses and a lot of annoying raid bosses, the game needs change and I hope that's what we're getting with the core game enhancement updates.

    Every time I see a video complaining about the new updates (which are parts of a bigger update) I only want to remind that everyone's also been sceptical about "The Return of Them" arc. Turned out to be the most interesting and polished update ever. Just wait and see, we're into smth really big right now. Also, seeing how the first update's been pretty much useless without the second, it's noticable now that they actually sinergise neatly.

    Okay dude, do more research before making these type of videos. You forgot a shit ton of things here, and these things are in the Wiki and I have tested all myself:
    1. You forgot (or chose to ignore) that the lunar set has an offensive bonus: +10% damage and +5 planar damage with both the Brightsword AND weirdly enough with the Void Scythe too. Go test it yourself, it makes these weapons do like 80 dmg.
    2. Brightshades are extremely baitable, im playing in an endless where shades dont even spawn in bases anymore after making a couple baits. There are videos explaining it already.
    3.Void set bonus of stacking damage for the Scythe is lost either when getting hit, 3 seconds without attacking, or by switching gears. So when it comes to a more efficient damage, without worrying about 100% dodging or keeping up the stacks, brightgear is WAY better because of its bonus.
    4. BS staff, after testing it myself, is amazing and does a lot of damage. I could explain widely why this is the case, but basically: Lunar bonus set makes it bounce 7 times, it does 20 damage to shadow creatures, and IT ALSO STUNLOCKS THEM. You do the math of what it can do in fights like FW, rifts, shadow creatures in nightmare ruins, or FIGHTING INKS. It would be effectively 140 damage per use, long range, while stunlocking. Again, go test it.
    And let me tell you, its always easier to hate on every fucking update there is on any game, specially if its end game content. Most people do because hey, hating is funnier, and its easier to shit on the "bad" things rather than appreciating the "good". But saying this is a "shitty" update while ignoring a lot of things, is dumb. Do research if you are making these types of videos, because for the people that did it, you look like a hater for what it is a GOOD update.

      Set bonuses are so negligible for the fact you have to sacrifice ALL of your equipment slots just to get them. These updates are just self serving problems that shouldn't have a place in this game with the little reward they bring.

    There’s a catch 22 here. If the items you get for defeating the late game content are better, they will make the base game even easier, and the people who complain that it’s too easy will go on complaining even more. by making the items only useful in dealing with the late-game content, they are at least creating new challenges to keep them from becoming too powerful. The problem is that they are stuck, simply adding more enemies, and more weapons and more armor, and ultimately none of that is very interesting. I have 3000 hours in this game and I haven’t even bothered to kill crab king and the celestial champion because it’s not really necessary and it’s not really interesting, at least not to me. Combat to me is just a means to an end and I don’t want to get involved in endless preparations and practice for a glowing crown. For technical reasons, Klei isn’t able to add to the game. What would really make it exciting is new, biomes, ecosystems, weather, all of the stuff that they brought to Singleplayer with Shipwrecked and Hamlet. But they can’t do that. So they just keep piling on bosses because there’s a big chunk of the audience who thinks that adds something meaningful to the game. It just doesn’t do anything for players like me. The last thing I want is yet one more time- and resource-consuming boss to fight in order to get more weapons and more armor. That’s not what I like about this game.
