I would get Wurt. If you struggle against any raid bosses, look no further. Focus on building your merm army and you will have no issues. Shes great for chopping trees, mining. Her sankty benifits are amazing. No sanity loss from wetness. She gains sanity from holding a fish. Seasonal fish make it so you can ignore winter and summer. She seems almost OP in my eyes. Ooo ya, when you get dragon fruit dragon pies give you 100 hunger and 40 health
wurt is basically pig army but better and more cost effective in a way BUT le wormwood *insert dramatic dun dun dunnn thing* he has ez food, essentially better log suit, an excuse to not help the team in combat, easy living logs, assists wurt in her endeavers to amass an army of s̶l̶a̶v̶e̶s̶ "unpaid workers/friends" and just good for food in general

Did you know that merms can farm morsels and feathers? If you cancel the boomerang animation before it gets thrown, merms will attack the targeted birds without scaring them away which saves the durability of the boomerang. Wigfrid mains will appreciate the free food. Not sure if that works for pigmen tho.
If you are playing with 2 people the combination of Wortox and Wormwood is awesome. Wortox covers Wormwood's difficulty healing and in return Wormwood can make you both infinite Bramble Husks and Bramble Traps to keep you safe. Very beginner friendly duo.

@@douan6363 It’s really not that bad. Souls can help with hunger and the only bad thing is the nightmare creatures which you can fight with a friend. You can also heal with the souls so yeah, it’s not that big of a deal
I ended up getting Wanda, she’s so much fun from what I’ve tried, I can kite pigs now and I don’t need to spend inventory space, and after going to the ruins later I got the better watches!
+1 for Wanda. She's just exactly what an advanced player wants if you like hands-on characters: cutting down the time needed to gather resources while making combat more fun with her backstep watch but also more unforgiving if you mess up. And I just love how low maintenance she is. Since you can't heal with regular means anyway, you barely need food. Thanks to her alarming clock, you don't need to farm dark swords or ham bats either. And the fetch quests to the caves/ruins/moon are trivial in late game once you have the teleportation network set up -- as they should be. You just have more time to do the things you want to do in the game
For the new Wurt players: Merm Craftsmen recruit up to 3 at a time with a low radius, Feeding a Merm Guard recruits up to 5 in a much bigger radius, making it more food efficient. Even early on, just one merm guard makes it much easier to get an army ready.
This would of been helpful a while ago but I keep dying to insanity monsters so I turn them off or I die to hunger(how make farm) it’s hard to play on switch but I somehow manage
When I started playing Wormwood I didn't realize just how much his mechanics would impact his eating habits. I'd see butterflies floating around in a place with allot of flowers or I would find a blue mushtree forest in the caves and remember "Oh yeah, can't heal with those" then I started planting seeds and realized that if food can't heal you then it kinda defeats the purpose of spamming potatoes and tomatoes. Not only that but since Wormwood can manage his sanity so easily it makes sanity foods like taffy or melonsicles kind of redundant, Wormwood really only needs food and nothing else. It's surprising just how much less exciting food becomes when it's only about feeding yourself, kinda just makes you want to make meatballs
also spamming toma roots and potatoes is a good tactic because they perfectly mirror eachothers needs for nutrients so no fertilizing needed ever again along with hes meant to be more of a support, not a fighter and please ignore the fact that his skilltree makes brightshade gear kinda op
Get mushroom planters put red caps inside for food and syrups Get a spider farm for healing salve Get a bee box for syrups for manure Get the berry feedback loop for rot and more food that your teammates can eat Get a wortox to print living logs for bramble traps for printing ground boss loot Congratulations you've done the wormwood snowball
Hot take: wanda becomes borring way faster then most of the characters , due to having realy limoted combat options. Well to be precise , due to having too good of an combat option. Alarm clock is so good , you ll not want anything else , and due to its infynite durability , you wont need anything else. If you need health as wanda , you use clock. If you need to resurect someone you use clock. If you need to be resurected on a server you ll never need anything but telltale heart . Best sanity food? What about taffy without drawbacks? Means of transportation? What about fast travel? She is so good it isnt even funny. Most of her perks give her easy solutions to most of the problems. My biggest problem playing her always is inventory managment , and only because i have twisted mind and i cant throw away anything ever , and cant even let something lie in the base. She is realy solid character. Probably the best. And it makes her playstile repetative and borring realy fast. I am open for discussion.
You are right. Play Wickerbottom, Maxwell, Wurt, or Wormwood instead. You have to make books for wicker to adapt to different situations. The kind of traps and farms you can make with her will keep you from getting bored for a while. Maxwell only gets stronger as you get the gear and a beefalo for him which gives you a nice sense of progression. Mass farming nm fuel is fun with him. Wurt is suitable for different play styles. You can always switch up your play style when you are bored. You can play the game as a farming sim, a city building sim, an action rpg, or all at the same time. Similarly, Wormwood is a very versatile character as well. Using him as a combat character requires skills, knowledge about the game, and the character itself. At the very least, you will have to find a reliable way to heal him. And it’s not just composting wraps and bat bats for him. He’s got some other healing methods too that are scalable and synergize with his ability very well. You will have that aha moment with him, trust me. He can be played solo or with a team. You can farm not just veggies with him, but also monster meat, glands, silk, bees, shadow monkies, and butterflies very well too. And you’ve got at least 5 healing methods among those things you can mass farm. So give those characters a shot. And once you do, come back to playing Wanda and she will be fun for you again.

Wanda is not that hard. But using her to the maximum potential is. For a beginner, one can just stay as mid aged Wanda or even as young Wanda and just use a ham bat if you aren’t comfortable. You’d be playing as Wilson but with unlimited heals. And my favorite characters are also Wurt and Wormwood
"beginner" to me means that you cant reliably set up a base and get to the point where managing your stats is a non-issue. so idt any "beginner" should get any of these characters cause they all require you to work around stat mangment in some way, and thats why theyre all so fun to play. like if you can get past wurts dietary needs, you can steam roll any major boss without carrying a weapon. or if you can deal with eating a ton of food, then wortox can make ruins runs a lot safer cause of the health and teleports, but to newer players, these are all high risk/ high reward. so if you cant survive a couple years as walter yet, then i wouldnt spend money on these niche characters
Wormwood's no healing from food can be dealt with by just Spider farm Manure farm plus nitre Honey farm making a bunch of monkeytails for honey poultices if you need more food Eat that monster meat you have lying around Make a mushroom planter and plant red caps actually make a crock pot if you need more sanity Plant some seeds Chop some tall trees and plant their seeds Make a gold shovel and plant and replant the same sapling If you need less sanity chop some trees
Wanda's so far the best. It can be tricky to get a start, but once you get the alarming clock + shadow armor you won't die. You don't need to worry about healing foods, since you can heal with your clocks.
Strange video (no hate) but there is no single doubt: Wanda. Is is op - insane damage, infinite teleportation, no need for heals/cheapest healing, ability to avoid bishops with no speed. Also if you play 2 Wandas you need literally nothing you can resurrect each other at no cost, so we would literally avoid eating and just read each other when in base… And I’m not even saying when Wanda just came out she was the one to kill Klaus the easiest and back then her backtrack was able to avoid Charlie infinite. However, this is only if you ask what character to get to have best progress. Oh and also, somewhat goo/bad abt her, no message about type of death which might be healpful if you are playing on a competitive server and don’t want others know what you are doing or where you are in case of death, but most of the time it’s annoying cus you can’t make a statistics.
What's the mod you're using at 3:15? It looks like Snapping Tills, but when I used it, it didn't work when Wormwood was planting seeds directly without a till.
So for me the choose was wanda and wurt because wortox and woormwood i have already had with the megapack of 2023 and with this video i think i go with wanda thanks so much to help me
@@dkittell11 hes actually quite simple, think of your soul management as spending a coin, kill a enemy? Get a coin, killed a boss? Get lots of coins, need to heal? Spend a coin, hungry? Spend a coin, Etc. as long as you don't overflow your pocket with too many souls you'll have really easy healing or hunger for a quick pinch while also being able to use the souls to teleport if needed.
I think this now makes breakfast skillet or a plain omelet since the little drama update. A little harder to hide eggs in veg dishes now. One that still works though is 2 eggs and 2 berries for a fistful of jam..
@@JoãoVolumoso yeah, it’s the whole reason I main him now, just because he looked different from everyone else and he looked interesting. You also get like 2 or 3 free belongings. A Fire Pit skin for Reign of Giants, a Birdcage skin for Shipwrecked, and Wormwood after getting Hamlet.
For how op wanda is I'm surprised no one has mentioned her in the comments yet. Definitely the most convenient character for overall survival as well as a powerful fighter if you prefer a more hands-on approach. If you want the game to play itself just play wurt and DeForest the world for 3 more huts

Only works for merms yup. I use this quite alot, when Wurt is better at farming birds than walter, waltef needs a buff.

That mod is called Geometric placement
To make snapping tills to work you have to first turn off geometric placement by pressing b
