He seems lonely, and I don't mean that as an insult, I'm lonely too, and I also have a habit of trying to get attention from internet strangers because I just don't get any irl, no one seems to care about me until I get those youtube likes or reddit upvotes. Man, all this Minecraft cheating is just sad. For me at least, it just lowers the trust I have in all runs. I wonder why it's such a big problem specifically in Minecraft speedrunning? Fun fact: With Lide's cheated runs now out of the picture. Tarokitchen's 26:48 (26:45 IGT) all the way back on 26th November 2016 would have stood as WR for 1130 days instead of 984 days which makes it the only run in Minecraft history to hold WR for more than 1000 days.
    Just let that sink in for a minute. 1130 days. It is already rare for one runner to hold WR for 1000+ days. But to have one single run to hold for roughly the same amount of time is just extraordinary and is something that may not occur in any main category ever again, even with the RNG fest that is 1.16+. Even if it does happen again, it could take years or even a decade to occur.
    (Bonus fact: the only WR run in any competitively active game that is somewhat comparable, that I could think of currently is Ohon's 11:48 on Ninja Gaiden on 27th April 2013 which held for 1062 days until Arcus broke that WR on 24th March 2016 with his 11:47, though put something in the replies if you can think of anything else)
    Anyways, this would also make Illumina be the one to conquer Taro's WR but not with the 23:53 (23:51 IGT) on 13th February 2020 but a 25:26 run which he got few months prior back in New Year’s Eve of 2019.
    However, this is not the only achievement that reaches a milestone as Taro's longest consecutive reign now becomes 2089 days instead of 1943 days starting from his 37:43 back on 12th April 2014 when his runs were over 11 minutes slower compared to his very last WR. 5 years, almost 6. Again, this can't be understated, he was a diamond in the rough, even when speedruns in Minecraft were primitive back then. This reign is also over half the time span of Minecraft lifetime including initial release.
    (A minor note: some videos on UA-cam do not include this run like Abacaba's Minecraft WR history video as this run fell under the radar. The only video that I saw mention this was Connor01's own Minecraft WR history video however this was later submitted and verified by BlueCrystal004 on speedrun . com on Christmas' Eve of 2020. However, this mistake from Abacaba's is understandable as the process of collecting info from the speedrun . com Database API was automated, and his video was uploaded 3 months before the 37:43 run was submitted and therefore would have been missed out upon the time of the process)
    As for Taro's total reign of the Minecraft WR, it slightly harder to distinguish as the early days of Minecraft speedrunning back in 2012 (though possibly earlier) are not well documented apart from a Japanese Minecraft forum and a few surviving videos from runners on UA-cam, Twitch & Nico nico douga all researched by Connor01 again and I have not seen sufficient info researching myself since the short time span of making this comment to be 100% certain. Therefore, I suggest you take the next few paragraphs with a slight grain of salt.
    Tarokitchen did have a second WR reign from 15th August 2012 with his 58:16 back when run were almost 3 Minecraft days long and this run being the first sub hour run in Minecraft Random Seed Glitchless history. During this reign he brought the WR time down to 45:07 which was set on 8th March 2014. This reign was then temporarily brought to a stop by ワタ (wata) on 4th April 2014 with his 43:23. However, this was short lived as Taro got his WR back on 12th April 2014 with the aforementioned 37:43.
    This shorter reign of Taro would amount to an additional 597 days makes a grand total reign of 2686 days and ワタ the only person other to obtain WR during those 2 reigns only stopped Taro's dominance for 8 days. Let me reiterate, throughout the 2694 days between 15th August 2012 and 31st December 2019, there were only 8 days where Taro did not have the WR. Simply golden.
    On a closing thought, though I have been in awe looking back at Taro's past achievements again and I am happy about it, I do feel that it is a shame that we will probably never get to see a dedicated standalone video/documentary of Taro's accolades and his own story throughout his time of dominance as most videos will be incorrect because most videos before this situation wouldn't acknowledge the 1000+ days run and the 2000+ days reign simply because at the time, we did not know any better. As PikaJ said, Lide could have gotten away with it if he did not randomly comment on that video, and no one would know about the truth or the crazy 2 statistics we had on our hands but was prevented and unnoted because of cheating scandals.
    Okay, to something not about statistics, I know PikaJ has covered the 26:48 in his unbeatable records get broken video and the aforementioned Connor01's video explaining briefly all his runs, I do think we can do one better in doing a deep dive especially when he also did live streaming where he had a live following on Twitch & UA-cam which was something that the aforementioned Ohon did not have.
    Going back to Connor's video, he displays glimpse of clips and a few seconds of audio of his reaction, you can tell the emotions triumph, joy and happiness in some of them, however one thing that I want you to focus is in Taro's last WR attempt his sub 24/25-minute choke, most people may not understand what he is saying but the raw emotions is there. I am sure every one of you at some point has experienced being so close in doing something monumental and then blundering at the most crucial moment. That pain is mutual. He is human and deep inside he has a personality that his followers have adored for years.
    There are very few surviving footages of his streams that have also not been looked at and just like some of the hazy documentation of the early days, you never know when it might just disappear without a trance. Look at the main platforms such as UA-cam and Twitch who change things on a whim and then retrospectively punish or even terminate channels without warning, I do think it is important that we preserved what we might have left of how he is not only as a legendary speedrunner but as a streamer, an entertainer and simply just himself.
    PikaJ in previous videos of other dominant reigns such as Feinberg's dominance on Minecraft All Achievements category. He does a good job in displaying his emotions not only in his final reactions to runs, not only through his WR sub 3 hour run but the journey of the trials and tribulations in getting there in the first place. I do feel that we can do a similar tribute about Tarokitchen especially how monumental he been for Minecraft Random Seed Glitchless Speedrunning as a whole and there may never be a person like Tarokitchen ever again.

    You might want to add the fact that the hunger bar doesn’t always tick every 3.05 seconds. Each hunger icon has a 1/3 chance to go up, go down or not move it all. This means that, technically the first 34 seconds of the end could have been legitimate. The only problem is every single one of the hunger icons would’ve had to choose to stay still for over 10 ticks. The chance of that happening is 1 in 7102217821867e49

    At this point I'm wondering just how many additional kinds of verification they're gonna start requiring on Minecraft runs, considering how many rules they've _already_ added... They've said that things like handcam, input displays, streaming runs, and having a mic and speaking during the run are _not_ things they'll ever consider due to being prohibitive for many players, at least.

    • @rubiksmath7938
      @rubiksmath7938 Рік тому +3

      I think that even a year ago or perhaps even more it was relatively easy to have a legitimate top tier run become "unverifiable" for some minor thing, however most players good enough for those sorts of times knew what was required and messed up rarely and it was usually inconsequential anyways. I have no idea what they will add but it can surely only make it harder. I just hope they don't find themselves in a situation where legitimate players are getting runs rejected/accused of cheating, that already happened with Korbanoes well before all this started up...

      How are input displays prohibitive? It's a PC game already, so that should be pretty straightforward right?

    • @WackoMcGoose
      @WackoMcGoose Рік тому +2

      @@radical_rat It's an extra level of technical program that a lot of non-expert players might not be able to set up (especially making it transparent so it doesn't cover up a large portion of the screen), either due to inexperience or system requirement limitations (the outright ban on OptiFine for recent versions of the game is another example of locking out runners on lower spec systems).

    As interesting as the forensics are, it does make me quite glad I never bothered with Minecraft speedrunning at all.
    Such an immensely popular game is going to attract a lot of eyes, and the incentive to fake World Records is immense. Nobody cares if you pop a WR in some game time has forgotten (I remember watching a GDQ in which someone set a new WR for Duke Nukem II, and seeing the viewer count was barely above 300 at the time because of when it was airing).
    But Minecraft is one of the most popular games of all time. People doing these things purely for attention does not even remotely surprise me.

    If he is so hungry and desperate for attention that he would comment on a video saying that he cheated just so you could make a video feeding him that attention, why make the video? I mean, he got what he wanted right? He commented on your vid, inviting you to make a video on him so he can get attention. As if getting 200k views isn't enough attention, no no no he wants more. It's not even interesting and bothers me how someone could do this just for attention and doesn't even care if it's negative attention.
