    You know, it's funny (in an amazing way), but when my Dad had cancer, the treatment made him so nauseous and uninterested in food that he just couldn't keep anything down/didn't bother eating. We were told to make sure he drank water all day, sipping from a water bottle which should always be next to him. The cancer nurse said people usually die accidentally due to dehydration caused by the treatment. Anyway, he didn't eat normally for a long time. Months really. He (6'2") went from a chubby 230 to a lean mean 160. He got rid of his cancer, his diverticulitis, hives, hair loss, etc. It was amazing. He looked 30 years younger. He lived for another 26 years. He died in 2015 at age 93.Must have been the autophogy. Thanks Dr. Berg.

      @Lord Bang-a-Lot No, he didn't die from cancer. He never regained the weight. He died of a broken heart. My amazing mom had died 18 months before and it just killed him. They were so devoted. Makes me cry, thinking about it.

Hospital food, bags of sugar draining into your arm is the death knell. The starving did it. The body did just what Dr. Berg says: It cleaned up the cancer. It had nothing to get in the way. Also the familiarity of home, where he could sleep as long as possible, have all of us with him. He was such a lovely, sociable Dad. He loved visitors.

    OK, I want to say this. It's certainly working for me. I started snacking on raw cruciferous when fasting if I felt I wanted to eat something. First of all, it keeps me busy because it's a lot of crunching! Secondly there is something very healing about it - I can't quite pinpoint it, but my body seems to do a lot better since I have started this. And honestly after not too long I stop eating anyway - it's really minimal. I wish I'd found out about it a lot sooner! BTW, my favorite is organic red cabbage. Pretty awesome, really.

    Dr Berg can you please make your supplements available on Amazon please. Otherwise we here in UK especially have no access to your great products and life research! Shipping plus duty tax changes are simply too much to make any purchase of the products in your shop. Many thanks 🙏

    Just finished 5 day of fasting. Lost 8 pounds & I got the keto rash. Anyway I’ll work on that, but still very happy. Thank you Dr Berg. Half way of my ideal weight, from 220 3 months ago now 178. Still 48 pounds to go

      I had the keto rash too. What totally took it away was dandelion root tea. I then also added a dandelion and milk thistle supplement. Never has been a problem since. I must admit that I first started taking bile salts in the hopes that they would clear the rash,, but didn’t see an improvement until I started drinking dandelion tea.

    Hi Dr. Berg. When you say to try this and see what the results are, what results should we be looking for? Does it make you feel better, make your skin look better, reduce hunger? Thanks!

    • @arobertpetersen
      @arobertpetersen 4 роки тому +7

      Cher: results are pretty fantastic and proportional to the length of the fast. Your digestive systems stabilizes, quiets and feels normal (although there will be intermittent hunger pangs), your skin will feel amazingly soft and supple - provided you’ve hydrated well during the fast and your mind will be clear. Be sure to get enough electrolytes during your fast and you’ll feel, see the results peak around 6 - 18 hours following the fast ( my experience). Breaking the fast, and what you eat afterwards is important as well; I’m sure you can find plenty of suggestions on what to eat afterwards, but make it light.

      I can tell you from experience. Before I started IF my sugar blood level was high and I couldn't workout without drinking some refined sugar like dextrose or else I would feel dizzy. Also along the day I would feel these insuline spikes and carbs cravings that would ruin my concentration. Then I started doing IF, eating 3 meals in an 8 hour interval (12, 16 and 20:00) and only drinking water in between, and no snacking at all. After 1 week my cravings were gone, my focus improved, I was not able to workout everyday while fasting before having my first meal and I was still gaining muscle, even while eating less (I was eating 5 big meals before, because I'm very skinny and have a fast metabolism, so I was afraid of losing weight by doing IF). So for me, IF really made autophagy work and there had been so many benefits that I will keep doing forever

      In Jains ( a religion ) we have people who fast for 10 days straight (first 3 days Not Even water and then next 7 days water only that too a little-just a little hot : from the borewell (as nutrients more)and by sitting at One place only once a day
      Then they would break the fast with Saunth - Dry ginger powder mixed with hot ghee and powdered sugar , plus some Ukaali - A concoction of many herbs and condiments , then they would start taking Moong ki dal ka paani : Moong dal boiled in water -as it is very light to digest ....when you fast too long ...your metabolism slows down and digestion is slow ...hence take lighter things
      ....I don't know if any of this will help you in any way but just felt like sharing

    I love cauliflower this is a life saver BC I never can take meds or vitamins on a empty stomach so this interests with my health or fast or both. So to know I can eat some of this veggie to take meds or help keep a fast going is great news. All iv read is no calories at all for fasting especially for autophagy

    Any consumption of calories actually does indeed break your fast. Once you consume calories your digestive system has to kick in and autophagy is stopped regardless if the calories is from a vegetable or any other food. Otherwise, great video on autophagy.

    When I eat Cabbage, for example, I don't see my insulin levels going up. It's a great thing because I eat one meal a day most of the time and sometimes I feel like I need to eat something without losing the benefits of OMAD. So yeah, Cabbage is great for not getting out of fasting, including autophagy.

    I fasted Friday but got quite famished end of day. So, I used Dr. Berg's recommendation and had a bowl of broccoli, cauliflower, butter and seasonings. It hit the spot. The next day, I still hit my target weight loss of 1 pound since the last weigh in a few days earlier. So, didn't seem to sabotage me. Will try some collard greens on my next fast day.
