Yep On a Plain is probably my favourite Nirvana song. That 'love myself' refrain is the best hook he ever wrote imo. So that's one song that really is underrated.
As a really old hardcore Nirvana fan who only ever listens to insecticide, the few reciprocal recording session demos, Fecal Matter, and half of Bleach anymore it was extremely surprising to see almost all of my favorites at the complete bottom. Sometimes my dumbass forgets In Utero and Nevermind exist. The world needs to listen to more insecticide. Though I do kinda feel like 1987-1989 nirvana and 1991-1994 nirvana are almost like completely different bands each from a unique world
Some of the best noisy shit is the least played and deeply influences my own stuff lol. My favorites are on the least played end and somewhere in the middle with a couple near the most as well like In Bloom, but I prefer the subpop version for its more raw production and it fits better with the noisy stuff that way.

Now a song like Hairspray Queen?…No, this sounds like any other noise rock band from the 80s that draws 15 people at their gigs. Most fans wouldn’t even find themselves listening or enjoying this song at all if it was by some underground group instead
