As I still search for a spiritual guide within the Church, Dietrich von Hiledbrand has served that role in a way that speaks to me of God's providence. Being long trapped with what he would describe as subjective straight-jackets and glass jars of anger, depression, and anxiety, the way he always bring me back to attending to the objective reality of the world of values and the proper response owed (not in any Kantian obligatory sense devoid of the emotive life, but encapsulating it and reason, the heart and the head, in a response of love) to it in light of Christ, His redemption, and the metaphysical situation of man that we humans find ourselves in has been such a blessing in my life. I'm sure many others have been blessed by this great witness and intellect, this great servant of God. Thank you Matthew for having your friend on this show, to which I am a new subscriber; his work with the Hildebrand Project has born real fruit in my life. Congrats on 100 episodes! Peace of Christ be with you!

Perhaps that we fear death so much that we become paralyzed. Death is inevitable. We should look toward ti Heaven, that we need to live our lives in such a manner that Heaven would be our reward.

Strange title for a talk. Thankfully, this line comes to mind: “Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.” (Hebrews 2:15)

Jesus cares about our bodies but he cares more about our souls. He is the Lover of souls. If you know this it is easier to face death .
And as St. Francis says, " It is in dying that we are born to eternal life ".

i was catholic for 35 yrs - they taught that one never dies and we will spend eternity in Heaven or hell.
that just isn't consistent with the Bible. it's pagan and a lie and worse, it tramples on the character of our loving God.

Tony God is love, but his also a God of justice he punished the angelic beings, and Adam and eve were expelled from the garden of eden for desobedience.
Dan 12,2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Rev 9,6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
      Mat 10,28
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

      Luke 16,19-31
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
      22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

@@hectorramirez8475 post 1 - none of those verses say a man will live forever.
      post 2 - is a parable, Hector.
read each line of it and see how it isn't in line with Scripture but written to make another point.
let me know if you need help with this too!
and for this evening, i pray the Sabbath is a blessing for you and yours =D

@@hectorramirez8475 tell me Hector, wouldn't our Creator be a nasty and ugly Ogre if He were to do such?
think about it, a man of say 21 years (which is past accountability) says _'no thanks!'_ to salvation.
how demonic would our Creator be to arrange for endless billions of eons of torture and pain because this man said 'no'.
i use to believe this twisted and satanic view of God, but the Bible doesn't support such nonsense.
start with Genesis 3 and tell me - do you see the very first lie ever told on earth?
there is a nasty system propagating this lie.
that system is the roman 'church'.
      more info?

Tony , if we reject God then he will reject us , hell is the separation of God . I ask you where are the fallen Angels? Why did christ died in the cross ? It's simple tony we are called to serve God , to do his will not ours .
By doing what we want is pushing God away from us.
Job 21,14 Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
