I think there may be just reason for her rumored chip on the shoulder… Perhaps the fact that her name was NEVER even mentioned in the opening credits of the black-and-white shows contributed to a sense that she wasn’t quite as important to the cast-she, who had been acting in theatre (including Broadway) long before the others were even born! (I don’t believe such an omission could happen today.) She was VITAL to the cast- her character brought a warm sense of hearth and home to the show… someone who kept “the home fires burning”- something and someone to come home to the welcoming aroma of her fried chicken. I believe that only when she won an Emmy for her portrayal did she receive the recognition long due her. God bless Frances Bavier’s memory.
Long ago, Andy Griffith and Ron Howard traveled to North Carolina to surprise her. Guess what? They knocked and Frances opened the door. Next… She slammed the door in their faces. Very rude.
I always wonder why execs don't make it clear to such nasty people...this is just a job. Continue to cause problems & act out, there's the door. Nobody is indispensable.
I've read and heard the exact same relationship with Andy Griffin. So I'm guessing maybe it's her that was the problem. She seemed nice but I couldn't stand her voice. But I'm sure she was good at heart. Just a perfectionist. RIP 🙏

she must have been a very talented actress to be able to play a character so different from her real personality.
It seems everyone who worked with her on both shows said the same thing about her.

Wow she must have been a horrible person because he was one of the sweetest people and really funny actor.
Aunt Butch had difficulty working with anyone, especially men.

I find it very hard to believe that Ken Berry could utterly hate anyone.

You blather well, but say little. You do not explain your "Utterly hated" promise. Thumbs down.
I utterly hate this channel! Always prattling on but never really saying much of anything.
Never liked either one of them…
