Tom Baker lives in a pretty rural town, where I live. He is seen very often walking along the high street saying hello to all who recognise him and still going strong I’m glad to say. Lovely man💕💕
Lovely trip down memory lane. It is wonderful to learn many stars of my youth who brought such joy into my life are well and (mostly) still kicking. Thank you!
Great selection of real stars, remember all of these from way back when television was so very good. Thanks for these and great to hear they are all basically still going well.
Felicity and Sally (James) specifically I would say for me personally. Though I also had a massive crush on Penny Keith. It was that 'haughty but naughty' thing she had going on.
Derek Griffiths and the sadly departed Brian Cant were my favourites from Play School. I was thrilled at the age of 50 to see Derek appearing in my local pantomine in Norwich a few years ago. Seeing him (still very sprightly!) I just felt about 5 years old again, it was wonderful .
The musical themes for Bod have been my internal soundtrack for my whole life - a whole parade of perfect melodies and riffs that I first heard as an infant and which still fill me with joy nearly 50 years later. I only recently thought to look up who actually composed these and was astounded to discover that it was Derek Griffiths, who is the earliest face I can remember outside my own family (along with Fred Harris, another Play School presenter of the same era). He's a hugely talented man who genuinely helped make the world a better place.

When it was opened in 2018, the contents were intact and are now on display in the school which is still open today in its original Victorian building. Happy memories.
This is probably the first video of this format you've made where I remember all of them. Loved watching and I look forward to the next one. Thank You.
Another great video. Fond memories of most of those shows/actors. I find that it is the children’s TV entertainers that I hold on to…..Brian Cant, Derek Griffiths, Play School, Playaway, Bod, You and Me, Camberwick Green, Trumpton, Bagpuss, Ivor the engine, John Craven’s Newsround and early Blue Peter, with the fabulous John Noakes. They were not only great presenters/actors, they were great teachers too. Thanks to all of them, and to you Stuview.
This was nicely put together and a real trip down memory lane for a 70s kid. Derek Griffiths was a legend! I loved seeing how, even in their 80s and 90s, many still have the same, cheeky smile.
Living in the US, I was only familiar with the British shows that appeared on PBS, including those that were on Masterpiece Theater on Sunday evening and the lineup of comedies on Saturday night and weekday afternoons. So I didn’t know many of the actors in this video. Of the ones I did know, my favorite is Penelope Keith. “To the Manor Born” was one of my two favorite shows. My other favorite was “As Time Goes By” with Dame Judy Dench. I was very pleased to see that Penelope Keith is also a Dame - a very well deserved honor!
Derek Griffiths seemed to be in every kids educational tv programme. Whenever i see him i always think of "Can Becomes Cane With Me, Man Becomes Mane With Me, Magic Magic E"
What a great, respectful, nostalgic look back at so many of our TV Stars! Jenny Hanley was my schoolboy crush and I still have two telegrams reminding me to watch Magpie as I had sent in a piece of ironstone in the shape of Murgatroyd the Magpie. It was sent to a girl that painted stones and she painted to look 'even more like Murgatroyd' as Jenny said as she held it up during Newsdesk. Some of those included I've had the pleasure of meeting over the years were Richard O'Sullivan, Michael Palin, Bill Oddie and Joanna Lumley -Swoons again-!
With very few exceptions they all look fantastic. Stanley Baxter at 97 looks particularly amazing IMO. Thank you for making this I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I remember seeing Frank Finley the star of Bouquet & Barbed Wire back in the 70s, many times whilst shopping in Waitrose in Weybridge, He sadly passed away in Weybridge in 2016 aged 89 years. Such a fine actor & very handsome man in his day.
