The diversity of music that is preformed on the Tiny Desk concerts is just phenomenal. From American roots influenced music, to middle eastern and Latin music, it never ceases to amaze me. These concerts just have such a genuine tone to them, thank you, NPR.
it is so cool to see a woman play bango! She brings across so much Americana, even as a Canadian! it reminds me of patchwork quilts, apple pie and summer picnics in parks. she brings alot of soul and wisdom.
Nine Pin is such an amazingly well written & well delivered song. Every version I’ve heard seems like the most perfect & moving version of it. I’m in awe of it!
@@vinagreberry sorry, but why should I keep it to myself? I'm not being disrespectfull at all, I'm just expressing my point of view and what I'm feeling. PEACE
This is exceptional but at the 10ish minute (the last song) hit so deep that I had to comment. I had to record my feelings as I listened. There could be no way the Father could imagine the daughter channeling so much of his past into the present imagining a better future for all nations. A future void of these tragic wars in nations that let hubris leaders internally and externally divide loving people into fighting - into personal and national states of crisis. Once we've crowned a hubris leader we're all losers because a hubris leader is driven by only one thing - power over everyone and in these crisis states everyone is traumatized by the hubris leader. This song is brave artistically in ways it may take us generations to evolve to - in ways none of us can imagine today. This is the social benefit expressive art in the form of music brings us all in my humble opinion.
I had a chance to see the incredibly talented Alison Brown do a set with the Indigo Girls. Fucking heart wrenching. Absolutely check it out and Bela Fleck as well.
Easily my favorite tiny desk "discovery" this year, probably for a long time before and to come as well. Hope to see this lady and her band in person next time they come through the west coast... (nudge nudge)
Amazing. Saw her live for the first time in early June at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs. Going back for more at the Hollerhorn Distillery in Naples in August. Been listening to her for a couple years and she is right up there at top 3 fav. artists ever since.
I love hearing that Gold Tone OT-800! It's a quality but humble instrument and you don't often hear professionals with them. Much love for representing black players and accessible banjos alike!
We need to support more non McArtist, we are so accustomed to letting the music industry dictate what we listen to or what we like. Support your local artist there's is many a talented musicians out there give them a chance!
I'm a clawhammer banjo player, so that's what brought me to Kaia Kater, but, wow, what a voice and such great songwriting. Obviously, I have a bias toward the songs where the banjo is featured, but she's just wonderful all the time.
wow.. beautiful.. Kaia Kater got fire in her fingers and lava from her esophagus, following her.. going to the record shop to search her wax... peace love light

One of the very best of the Tiny Desk concerts, and that’s saying something. She’s brilliant.
Her voice, the banjo, the band. It was so beautiful I cried a little bit.
I had the privilege to see her live and she is phenomenal. Not only a thoughtful songwriter but also an incredible human being.

Every time she looks down the barrel of the camera and makes eye contact with me I crumble. What a stunning talent.
So glad I decided to listen to this! She deserves more views. ❤
Thank you Kaia Kater! Your music brought some extra joy in to my life today
Doing my best to be open and listen to each of these tiny desks even if it isn't catching my eye. And isn't it worth it?
Open mind and open heart, you'll never have a closed door to happiness.
Always worth it
Y tried but I waste 16min of my hearing, can't extract nothing cool from this tiny desk concert. Lack of spark and her voice is telling me nothing.
@@loop5067 Reading your comment is a waste of time. If you have nothing good to say, keep it to yourself.

Just discovered her music via Western AF -- what a voice and presence! poetry as song is definitely my favorite music vibe
Great! Thanks Tiny Desk, I owe you much gratitude for helping me discover so much diverse music.
Why artist want to performed behind a tiny desk is beyond me, but I am so grateful!
I LOVE her im glad she made it onto NPR!!! I jam to her songs every long drive through virginia. Her tunes inspired me to learn banjo
My favourite part about her music. is how she approaches such a soft song with such intensity in her person. it captivates
Wow , this took me on a trip …wasn’t expecting what I discovered of this amazing talent….I’m also in love with her now ❤
Clicked by accident stayed because of this incredible voice and music that is so strangely unique and beautiful

Fave banjos..... Kaia, steve Martin, be good tanyas, birds of chicago, Love that rhythm sound.
the arrangement and recording of the first song is really good. lots of space for each instrument and the colour of each compliment each other well
A real talent and hope to hear and see more from Kaia, thanks TinyDesk for sharing.
Never heard of her until now, but pretty good. I dig it
Nice. Love the variety of NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts!
Congratulations to Kaia! I saw her perform at Club Passim last June and it was AMAZING. Nice to see her get this spotlight.
I love how her songs show so many musical influences. I can't wait to see what Kaia Kater does next.
I never give the banjo the correct amount of respect - Kaia Kater makes me rethink everything. Thank you
To explore all a banjo can do check Bela Fleck he has bough the banjo to Jazz Rock country and classical he is perhaps the the best player on earth
I had a chance to see the incredibly talented Alison Brown do a set with the Indigo Girls. Fucking heart wrenching. Absolutely check it out and Bela Fleck as well.
Jens Kruger, noam pilkelny, and Abigail washborne will change the way you view the banjo

Beautiful, soulful, and heavy.
Incredible! Once again, thank you npr for showing me awesome music.
Any concert on NPR is just 100x better
My name is Paco Rumblefish and I approve of clawhammer banjo in all genres.

So beautiful... brought tears to my eyes
Nice. Beautiful song.🙂
While the timbre of her voice is beautiful, it’s the pure poetry of the lyrics that really grabs me 😊 gorgeous work
Muy bonita voz, madura y suave, me encanta como suena el banjo con el resto de los instrumentos. Thanks for the new discovery.
Didn’t expect that! Round of applause
I love her voice
Music to contemplate to. Thank you NPR Tiny Desk for another excellent introduction.
Gee - what a joy her music is!
2018 February she was performing in my hometown. I was so nervous talking to her after the show. Great show
Thank you NPR tiny desk, another new artist to add to my player.
un vrai plaisir a écouter ....merci
Those eyes though it's as if she's looking right in your soul. Like she was just singing to me and only me
Awesome, all of the members here!!!
As an asian, very exotic and interesting. Thanks for the great music NPR!
She sounds beautiful.
SHE REALLY DESERVES SUCCESS
In a way, her voice reminds me of Johnny Cash, but feminine. Really cool
Deign T that’s a spot on description.
Really interesting comparison. I listened to it again and really get where you're coming from.
I appreciate your comment.
@@Shreepsy I appreciate your kind words, and your funny username. Have a wonderful day!
Woah hit the nail on the head
Deign T I’m Johnny Cash, and I agree with your comment 👍🏻
Introduced her band! She’s a class act, she understands it not just about her. I like her, a lot!

Centuries of blues, my guess.
So incredibly talented.

Something good on npr! This is fantastic.
Her voice 🥰🥰
BEAUTIFUL 👌
She's great! Nice different sound.
TWENTY ONE PILOTS PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your energy and intonation reminds me of Alice Phoebe Lou. I Like what you're creating.
Loved this one!
Her voice reminds me of the song Cant help falling in love by elvis Presley I'd love to hear her sing it
Is there any spotify version of these recordings? I definitely found this "Nine Pin" much more beautiful than the album version.
She reminds me of Laura Marling with her stories. ❤️❤️
Great video. I love all of your videos!!
Outstanding.
She has a new fan.
I saw the banjo and I had to freaking click
The first song has a "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" feel to it.
