As a retiree with new knees and bad feet, I experience your adventures vicariously, whether it’s in Nepal, Chile or Scotland. Your physical stamina amazes me - so don’t beat yourself up about the altitude sickness. You are my adventure hero!
Thomas, as a street photographer who just recently discovered the joys of hiking, you have no idea how this series of videos from your climb has inspired me. I've now set a goal of reaching the Everest basecamp myself. Thank you for your passion and thank you for sharing it with us!
Fantastic series, Thomas. I am now 75 and such shenanigans as you get up to are no longer possible for me. But this series took me back to when I had my 53rd birthday trekking to Lomanthang in Mustang which is the part of Nepal very close to Tibet. I trained hard in the Yukon where I live (2000 feet above sea level). My companions on the trip were ladies from Dorset and at least 2 of the five got very sick with altitude sickness. I was lucky (because of training where I live) and managed a pass at 14,500 feet with no problems. Your final exhortation to go out and do what you want to do really rang a bell with me.
Your key message deeply touched me, Thomas. While going through one of the toughest times of my life (girlfriend gone after an unfulfilling relationship, job hitting me harder as ever and haven't touched my camera in 6 months besides other things...) I finally found the courage to take a new path today and start my single life and search for a new job. And then there comes your video with this message. You touched my soul right there and the tears came right out. Thank you so much for sharing your journeys and experiences! Keep it up!
Just remember pal, it’s all about YOU now. I’m sure you spent a great deal of your life trying to make someone else happy and didn’t get much in return. Now you can spend your time making YOU happy and get the fulfillment you truly deserve. Best of luck in your new adventures.
This trip was one of your best sets of videos. Thank you for taking the Fuji on this adventure and showing us how it held up through all that dust and elevation changes. You're one of the very few folks on UA-cam whose videos I purposely set aside quiet time to view. Keep doing what you do, Thomas.
It changed me, much deeper than I would expect, and in ways I am still discovering today. My approach to photography, and actually to my whole visual expression, changed as well, thanks to those amazing freezing evening conversations with you and the other fellow trackers around the Yak dung firing stoves. Huge thanks to U-Haul, Bugs, Poison, Terabytes and specially to you, Valley, for the superb experience! Looking forward to meet you all again, in another adventure. Sincerely yours. Velvet.
Sorry this was all so hard for you Thomas and I am glad you challenged your comfort zone in such a dramatic way as to end up climbing to mt Everest!!! The whole thing was to our great benefit. Thanks so much and if your US trip takes you to NH, stop by and say hello!
An amazing journey Tom, perhaps no less within yourself than to where your feet and heart took you and the incredible vistas you explored. Thank you for taking us with you - on both journeys.
I REALLY appreciate that you ended with it not mattering if you're climbing Everest or just exploring deeper into your local woodland. It's so easy to get caught up in the "adventures" of UA-cam celebs and feel like it's not worth just hiking a new trail in the local open space. Personally, I started feeling like I needed to go to some exotic location, like Scotland, in order for my photography to improve, then I realized I live in California an hour from the coast and just how much of it I've never seen. I think the most important thing for a photographer to do is open their eyes and see what's around them, where ever they are.
Nice work. Your final words, agreed. I travel the world in an RV, gave up normal life. 80 countries later and a 100 lifetimes of adventures. The Himalayas, both in Nepal and India are the most inspiring and beautiful regions I have ever been to... Kudos.
Truely motivational Thomas. I wouldn’t think there are many people watching this that will not be inspired to pick up the camera and get out and adventure.
Well done, Tom. This series of videos was so enjoyable, filled not only with beautiful photography, but also with heartfelt emotion. Many thanks my friend.
Thank you, Thomas. I have lived vicariously through this series of videos. I too suffered from altitude sickness so you have my sympathy. I love your message of live for the moment and grab life and go for it!
Your shot reminded me of Liberty Bell in Washington. Both...stunning images!! Thank you for the beautiful glimpse of heaven, those craggy snow touched mountains that I will never visit in person. Thank you also to the guides and sherpas who guided you and your group!
Even you aren't an avid photographer. To see the highest mountain in the world with your own eyes, is well worth all the suffering. The sheer scale of the snow-covered mountain peaks will make anyone feeling humble.
These three Himalayan videos had me enthralled! This final video in the series was just brilliant and thank you for sharing. Absolutely epic and well done!!!
thank you again for sharing your Nepal adventures. What you share, that light is fleeting, is what most of us who chase the delicate dance of light, land, and sky, can relate to. You make it all so much more relatable to, so much more personal, and for that, and for all that you share, thank you
Hey Thomas, I watched all your Himalaya Videos and wanted to say Thank You for taking us with you. Hope you can reach your new found Photography Goals in your Journey. Greetings from Germany.
Glad you recovered Thomas and thank you for a stunning series of videos in all respects. Was very intreagued by your comment about now knowing the future direction of your photography and would very much like to hear about this in more detail. I, like many of your followers, respect and admire your current direction and we would be fascinated to gain a deeper understanding of your drivers and what has changed. Looking forward to your next adventure.
What a beautiful ending to your Himalayan trip, that last Peak was well worth going to see, a pure delight for a Professional Photographer, as yourself. What a smile you have : )
I really enjoyed the ‘Nepal’ series of videos. As a photographer, I appreciate all the valuable information I have learned. Going to be taking my Leica S3 and SL3 to Nepal in February…. I can’t wait!!!
Truly a great adventure, but I appreciate the comment about our local options. The good news is that nature offers light magic in every corner of this blue planet. Of course, it's easy for me to take my Utah mountains for granted, but I don't :)
Excellent series of videos Thomas. Beautiful scenery and photography. Your heartfelt emotion keeps it real. The message at the end was spot on too. Thank you for sharing
You paid great honour and respect to one of the most handsome mountains on the planet. I almost giggled with how this image, in particular, had "Thomas Heaton" written all over it. Demonstrating that artistic identity sure is a thing. Thank you for allowing us to tag along on your adventure and successful trip. And AMS - what a strange and scary and semi-random thing, right?
Loved the shout out when the light hit the mountain, I've experienced this when in the Dolomites with a great bunch of fellow photographers, there is something so special in sharing these moments and its just a bonus if you are able to capture it in camera. Top advice to just get out and explore no matter where, I'm lucky in that I can still travel but I don't have to travel far to be inspired.
Well that gave me a wonderful end to what has been a very crap day at work. Loved the capture of the mountain and your message of exploration is very much inspiring. Great series, thanks Tom
Thomas , delighted to see you finish off the series with some beautiful images as it's no more than you deserved. Loved the new composition definition "we're on full wobble" wise words at the end and hopefully this experience won't deter you from going back and exploring more of this beautiful part of the world
I love how all the land around the Himalayas is miles above sea level due to the continents very slowly colliding and mushing together; Yet it all seems so still and peaceful to us short lived humans.. Really enjoying this series. It's a really magnificent setting..
I’ve always said that time in the mountains puts the rest of the world in focus. And let’s face it, if everything went as planned, it wouldn’t really be an adventure! So glad you were able to end on a high note!
Great series and love the fade at the ending. The message was fantastic and inspirational. This series is beautifully done, all the way through. Now I want to go.
Great end to an amazing video series on Nepal. Thanks Thomas, you inspire me to new heights, hopefully without the tiredness and headaches. Great series!
Amazing series, thank you! There are probably many who would not have even talked about missing days on this trip. I applaud your honesty and hope that you have come to terms with what you seemed to feel was a shortcoming. Seeing the truth was inspiring. What an adventure indeed.
What a great way of ending a trip that challenged you and made you grow - just like all the best adventures do. That's what makes you remember them :) Beautiful series, I can't even imagine the lot of work you have to invest aside of the actual photography and being a guide in such circumstances. Keep it up, Tom, your channel is really something special!
Wonderful. I am commenting for the first time on your video though I've been a loyal subscriber over two years. Here I find a different Tom Heaton, modest, altruistic, motivated and motivating. Thanks pal. Comment or not, you've always been my inspiration.
Hey Thomas so glad you got to enjoy the Himalaya and take some beautiful shots and kept your spirits up despite the huge disappointment you had on part of your journey. Looking back through the shots you took, I have to say your Canon shots are definitely sharper than the Fuji. Lens or camera I don't know but I can see a difference.
Hey Thomas, NIce to see you back with the group for that dramatic peak. That is quite remarkable! The mountains are so jagged, and angular - they almost look like they are painted by a cubist! Well done. Regards Ewan (NZ)
Thank you for taking us along on this amazing adventure. I have admired your work and respected your ethos as a photographer. These videos have only expanded that respect and admiration.
I thoroughly enjoyed your Nepal trip sitting right here at my desk. Sorry, you got ill, but I think the shots you were able to capture were worth it. Thanks, Sir. Job well done!
Thank you so much for yet another fantastic video of an amazing adventure. I think these have been your best videos. Fantastic - I have been gripped throughout.
Tom; inspiring series in Nepal and great to see you take the altitude sickness in your stride. The content and storyline line here was some of your best yet, thank you putting this together and sharing with us you tubers. Cheers Peter B.
Glad to see that you are feeling so much better in this video! Love the pictures you took, and thank you for the message at the end; it's very inspiring!
This was an absolute powerful series, from the anticipation yet excitement of not knowing what you were about to embark on to the moment where you wore your emotions on your sleeve and came to grips with the disappointment of feeling like you failed yourself and your team. For it to end on the high with your final goal and being able to capture your best shot right at the end. This was certainly a prime example of never giving up on ones dream no matter how hard or far you may get knocked backwards. I like so many of us am truly looking forward to seeing where you take your photography to from here. Look forward to continuing to be inspired and to learn from you good sir.

Best part of this is seeing you feeling better. But that mountain shot was pretty dang nice!
Omar Gonzalez Photography yay Omar!
Very much enjoyed this series, Thomas! Appreciate you sharing it with us.
Mark Denney Love your Work!

hang tough steve, everything turns around.
My 1st wife ran off with another man. Next 2 years worst of my life. Things do get better.
This trip was one of your best sets of videos. Thank you for taking the Fuji on this adventure and showing us how it held up through all that dust and elevation changes.

I freaking love Tom. So down-to-earth, humble and really inspire me to get out there and enjoy our hobby.

Such an amazing series of videos telling an intense story. I'm so glad the trip ended well for you after everything you went through!
I have travelled far and wide but Nepal which I visited 25 years ago, remains the highlight of my travels.
Your shot reminded me of Liberty Bell in Washington. Both...stunning images!! Thank you for the beautiful glimpse of heaven, those craggy snow touched mountains that I will never visit in person. Thank you also to the guides and sherpas who guided you and your group!

I have dropped a lot of you tube subscriptions, but Heaton will not be one of them. Always look forward to your adventures. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for thanking us in this adventure! This series about Himalayas is one of the best you ever made. Cheers from Portugal.
Brilliant documentary with fabulous pictures. Thanks

Greetings from Germany.
That’s a Great video . It may be the summits that drive us, but it’s the climb that makes us who we are. Keep up the adventure. ATB. Mark
Might be the best thing I've watched on UA-cam. Thank you Thomas.

A life time of memories was well worth it for you. Thank you for the experience that many people will not be able to do. Be well.
That ending speech was strangely motivating and capturing! Struck a deep nerve in the explorer in me.
Eloquently spoken Tom. Such an inspiration to get out and overcome our fears.
I really enjoyed the ‘Nepal’ series of videos. As a photographer, I appreciate all the valuable information I have learned. Going to be taking my Leica S3 and SL3 to Nepal in February…. I can’t wait!!!
Great series. Am sure no-one on the trip felt you let anyone down. As always it's good to see the ups and downs involved.
Awesome video Thomas, glad you are feeling better. Thanks for sharing

A very passionate video Thomas. Not just about Photography. Amazing trip it looked. Certainly changing ones outlook on life and path.

Cracking vid as ever - glad you got back with the group and had a successful outing on the last couple of days in the mountains.
Thomas , delighted to see you finish off the series with some beautiful images as it's no more than you deserved. Loved the new composition definition "we're on full wobble"
wise words at the end and hopefully this experience won't deter you from going back and exploring more of this beautiful part of the world
Amazing to me that no one sprained or broke an ankle in that boulder field. Quite the adventure with a great image as the cherry on top. Rock on!
