@Mr. Brodie Agreed. It's not the parents fault, of course. The dysfunctional family might have played as a catalyst in his ultimate downward spiral but that doesn't justify his crimes. Who knows he might have killed even if he had a perfectly normal family. However I still believe there was some clear negligence, not just from the family but also from the people around him. There were some pretty clear warning signs that he was not on the right track but they were ignored by everyone. If they had noticed then maybe the number of victims would have been lesser then they are. Bullying, early fascination with cutting the skin off of animals and dysfunctional family isn't an excuse for his crimes but it sure gives an insight and explanation into his twisted mind.

Everyone was trying to tell me he killed and mutilated live animals, which is complete BS.. His cruelty only extended to other humans..
they made a movie about Hitler which makes Dahmer a saint , They should make movies like this to make the public aware of the signs a of a psychopath , and how to prevent if thats even possible.
I agree we shouldn't victimize him, but I didn't think the movie did that. It showed what his early life was like and when something is what happened that's just it- it happened. NOTHING that happens to Dahmer excuses ANYTHING he did, but I think that's why people find these movies so interesting. The thing I think people get confused is excuses versus explanations. I thought that this movie was an attempt to explain, at least partly, why Jeffrey Dahmer turned out the way he did, without excusing his behavior.
The movie didn't do anything. He is the protagonist, and everyone who opposes to him will be classified as a villain, even a cop. Anything bad that happens to the protagonist will make him show off as a victim.
Ikr?! So many overly sensitive and holier-than-thou people seeing subtext that isn’t there. The author of the comic book the movie is based on who used to be friends with him doesn’t even forgive or excuse his actions.
Exactly... Actually Jeffrey said himself that even though he doesn't know what started it, there was no one to blame but him. Things like Childhood, parents, school. That those were just excuses.

@Cool Dood yeah it's true that one cannot give their past as an excuse for these things but if u see the past of most of the killers they either had a traumatic past or had been injured in the head (most of the time these two only). I don't think it was meant to justify anything, but perhaps explain how a physcopath, and a screwed up situation like that, is a recipe for disaster. Anyways great film.
I think this movie and the real interviews and stuff generally aren't there to excuse his crimes but more explain how he spiralled out of control. He had a lot of problems mentally to begin with, with his parents not handling them the way they should, doctors and the whole justice system just overlooking stuff cause he was white he didn't get the therapy he needed to maybe be stopped or at least keep him from society. I just recently listened to a three hour podcast about his detailed life and he did try a lot of things to stop his urges, most prominent thing he tried was turn to alcoholism. He knew something was wrong, he knew what he did was wrong but when the chemicals in your brain are all screwed up and no one notices and you don't get help yourself, like proper help, there's nothing you can do to stop those urges. One doctor explained that what he probably suffered from was a disorder that hit the brain in the stop that usually responds to sexual arousal, but with that disorder the brain sort of seizes and arousal and aggressions are mixed. In his case everything else just pushed him into murder
No one failed to realize what he eventually became. This movie highlights all the warning signs that Dahmer showed when he was still in high school that people just ignored like him faking a seizure in the hallway in front of his classmates or him fantasizing about killing a male jogger that he was attracted to. He was deeply troubled from an early age and it’s sad because the crimes he eventually went on to commit could have been prevented if he had just willingly gotten the help he desperately needed early on.
Although it was his choice to kill them peoole, the moral of this story is to pay closer attention to the people that don't speak out, maybe if people cared about the guy none of this would of happened.
Right? When I told my mom about it she was sort of skeptical (she knew him as Austin, lol) but then I showed her a picture and she was like, "Oh... Yeah, he does creepily look kinda Dahmer-ish."
My mom’s friend rode in a car with jeffery dahmer and he got such a bed feeling from him that he jumped out at a red light. he gets very uncomfortable talking about it knowing that he could have been a victim.
Don’t do that, Dahmer was a psychopath. He killed for the “pleasure” of it. His parents couldn’t understand him because he didn’t have the emotions they did. It’s sad that people are born like that but it doesn’t NOT excuse the horrible murders he committed! There are thousands of psychopaths and sociopaths that chose societal morality and do not murder, he could have done the same. Don’t you ever try to excuse this mass murderer on the grounds that he’s “misunderstood”, too many young black and brown men died for you to even think of that.
This movie is gonna be great. I am really proud of Ross Lynch. Edit: Why are there so many creeps that like Dahmer? He was a real person that killed 17 guys for his own pleasure. He was a selfish coward and that isn’t cute at all. Dahmer was not even remorseful. He was a lying manipulator. His bragging and disrespectful behavior led him to his death. Why should we care about his feelings? He didn’t care about the feelings of the 17 that he killed. “There are a surprising number out there who view Jeffrey Dahmer as some kind of antihero, a bullied kid who lashed back at the society that rejected him. This is nonsense. Dahmer was a twisted wretch whose depravity was almost beyond comprehension. Pity him, but don’t empathize with him.” -Derf Backderf

But Evan Peters was working on those two X men movies during the making of this one...
True, I would’ve loved to see Evan in this

Evan kinda played this though, with Tate maybe he would have gotten bored with this character
they made a movie about Hitler which makes Dahmer a saint , They should make movies like this to make the public aware of the signs a of a psychopath , and how to prevent if thats even possible.

I would just like to add that the character "Jeffery Dahmer" is a serial killer.
4 years later and Evan Peters is now Dahmer in the Netflix docu series.
@Prince Angel I'm not saying he isn't human? Perhaps you mentioned the wrong person mate.
Ikr?! So many overly sensitive and holier-than-thou people seeing subtext that isn’t there.
The author of the comic book the movie is based on who used to be friends with him doesn’t even forgive or excuse his actions.
Yes Jeffery is the protagonist in this film, the title of the film says it all.
Exactly...
Actually Jeffrey said himself that even though he doesn't know what started it, there was no one to blame but him. Things like Childhood, parents, school. That those were just excuses.

The human mind is very very fragile everything you said was facts
It makes me wonder if he had been raised better would he have actually gotten into biology? Or was he just born with a need to kill?
@@cosmic_riff the fact that most of the serial killers were either neglected by their parents or abused ....it always made me wonder if people had treated them equally and parents would have given the needed attention and love could they have lived a normal life? Its so scary that human actions make monsters ..i always thought about that
@Cool Dood yeah it's true that one cannot give their past as an excuse for these things but if u see the past of most of the killers they either had a traumatic past or had been injured in the head (most of the time these two only). It should be like a warning to people about how they treat their children. How abuse and negligence can shape someone's life. yes; the movie is very inaccurate with timelines, dahmer (2002) is easily the most accurate movie on jeffrey

eleanor dahmer ʚĭɞ nah this movie is the most accurate dahmer (2002) used a bunch of fake characters and fake events while this movie is about his teenage life in highschool and is very accurate when I did the research I just want a dahmer movie that is about his adult life and is very accurate with the killings
@@trainsgod1042 they got the timelines wrong in this movie, & dahmer 2002 was accurate with the murders/timelines, of course it had to add some fictional stuff into it, just to make it longer.

Nothing... NOTHING can ever justify his crimes or anybody's crimes. Many people are abused and bullied but they never turn into monsters
And many non abused people are murderers to!
The whole nature v nurture debate
I don't think it was meant to justify anything, but perhaps explain how a physcopath, and a screwed up situation like that, is a recipe for disaster. Anyways great film.
That is true but he clearly had mental problems to begin with
I think this movie and the real interviews and stuff generally aren't there to excuse his crimes but more explain how he spiralled out of control.
Sry for the long response but I'm really interested in his case and his behaviour
This is sad, but he was a killer, and I think people need to realize that.
Star Storm Gaming I don't think anyone failed to realize that 😂
D'Marius Johnson
Have you even seen the tumblr community my dude
No one failed to realize what he eventually became. This movie highlights all the warning signs that Dahmer showed when he was still in high school that people just ignored like him faking a seizure in the hallway in front of his classmates or him fantasizing about killing a male jogger that he was attracted to. He was deeply troubled from an early age and it’s sad because the crimes he eventually went on to commit could have been prevented if he had just willingly gotten the help he desperately needed early on.
I think people do.
Although it was his choice to kill them peoole, the moral of this story is to pay closer attention to the people that don't speak out, maybe if people cared about the guy none of this would of happened.

He was a lying manipulator. His bragging and disrespectful behavior led him to his death. Why should we care about his feelings? He didn’t care about the feelings of the 17 that he killed.
