      It was a blast. I should be going up again this December. They canceled my dispatch last December cause of COVID.

    How long is the ocean ice road out there?

    • @TruckingLife
      @TruckingLife  3 роки тому

      I’m not sure. I was 12 miles inland. I never made it out to the coast.

      There's several roads.. one out to Thompson point.
      The ice thickness is naturally around 6- 8 feet deep by April and even thicker on the road itself.
      Can support over 1 million lbs

      Do they have owner operators up there ?

    • @TruckingLife
      @TruckingLife  3 роки тому +2

      The company I work for (AFC) does not. But we build ice roads. So there is not much an owner op would do. To be honest I’m not sure if other companies have owner op positions or not. It’s a huge operation up there. I have only seen a very small portion of what is actually up there. It could be worth looking into. There are companies out of Anchorage that might hire owner op to run back and forth from the Slope.
