As an ex-Protestant, I really struggled to understand why appealing to Mary could benefit me when I could approach God directly. But, much prayer, experience and time revealed to me that I could not master my weaknesses and failures nor acquire the graces I so desired. I realized that I needed the help of additional intercession. Asking Mary to pray for me was the obvious choice. I began to say the Rosary - regularly and in a disciplined way. After some time, I began to notice significant changes in me. Gradually I began to recognize Mary as a gift of God to us Christians. She does indeed intercede for us and God hears and honors our appeals to her.

May I ask why you need Mary to interceed for you? Do you think God will not answer you or would respond faster if you asked Mary for “help” because all we need is God! He can do it all and do it all alone.

    • @carlospacheco7361

@melissaa6532 remember the wedding of Canah? Mary told Jesus that the people ran out of wine, what did He respond? It is not my time yet. She told the people to do whatever He said, and Jesus went out of the Father's schedule to call it someway, just to please His Holy Mother, and He only did it for Her, nobody else. Why? You may ask, well, He being a perfect man followed the law perfectly, so He honored His Father and His Mother perfectly, He could not let Her look bad in front of all the people. Now, even after His resurrection He is still fully man, therefore He is still the Son of Mary, why do you think He would stop honoring Her? And She, being our loving mother, wouldn't it be nice to have Her asking Him in our behalf to go out of His way to help us get closer to Him? And if our goal in life is to follow and imitate Jesus in everything, why not also in honoring His Holy Mother.

Take the notes. That’s helpful. But as you and you family are in this time of transition, be sensitive to them. Be the most loving person you can be. Pray with them , read scripture together, etc. but avoid arguments at all costs. Explain if they ask a legitimate question, but stop the conversation if it’s turning into an argument. @@danpozzi3307 i grew up a protestant Christian, & we never really stuck to One Church.
So my dad bounced around alot, we went to Assembly of God, Pentecostal, Methodist churches, Baptist Churches.
But that actually helped me see the truth when I got older, bc I remember all the diff churches we would go to, then yrs later we would change churches .
and my dad would say this church was doing falsehood, that it's not a good church, so as I got older that's what helped me see the problem in protestantism.
So when I became an adult I learned more, that Assemblies of God believed in things I didn't know the Methodist didn't believed in, I didn't know Pentecostals taught diff things.
Then i realized these churches are not just teaching diff things, they have a totally diff Gospel.
All these churches have salvation issue differences, I basically saw the problem with protestantism 1st.
then I started studying other religions, and helped me see Catholicism was Biblical 100%
It was the scriptures that I couldn't deny anymore, I just finally realized I had the wrong interpretation of the scriptures, & I saw that sola scriptura is a self refuting argument💯
But did that answer your question my friend

@@danpozzi3307 and basically I could add as a adult who never married when I came back to the faith I used to believe the Baptist Church was true.
cuz I left Christianity, and became an atheist, so when i came back to christianity I believed the Baptist Church was the true church.
but I never truly committed myself to a church, as an adult.
growing up protestantism just messed me all up so bad, I just became an atheist most my life, and I believe that was because of protestantism, I realize that there's no way God has all this confusion for his church.
that this is all man-made religions, that Jesus wasn't real to me, because it was just too much confusion for me I couldn't see the truth.
So I believe that God just put me through that path to see the confusion in protestantism, so when I came back to the faith all I wanted to do was study to find that 1st church, & be just like the first Christians.💯

For behold from now on all generations will bless me, because the Almighty did great things for me. And His name is Holy, and His mercy is for generation after generation with those who fear Him. He did mighty deeds with His arm, he scattered the proud with their understanding hearts: He pulled down rulers from thrones and He raised up the lowly, He filled those who hungered with goods and sent away empty those who were rich. He helped his child israel, by remembering mercy, just as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever." Luke 1:46-55.

1 Timothy 2:5 - "There is one God, and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus." `The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.…For in him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.`
"The Lord created me at the beginning of His work, the first of His acts of long ago. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the Earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth- when He had not yet made earth and fields, or the world’s first bits of soil. When God established the heavens, I was there, when He drew a circle on the face of the deep, when He made firm the skies above. When He established the fountains of the deep, when He assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command and when He marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside Him, like a master worker. I was His daily delight, rejoicing before Him always."

And ask Jesus to fill us with His Holy Spirit. Renewing our minds by god’s word daily is a life long commitment and going from being a believer to a disciple of Jesus Christ while making other disciples. @@seanrathmakedisciples1508
      Sean,
      That is not all.
Remember as well that Jesus gave power to His Church to forgive sins. A power not present in protestant churches and sects. Only available in Catholic and Orthodox churches.
      Here is why:
      ●JOHN 20:19-23
      19. When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’
      20. After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
      21. Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’
      22. When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT.
      23. If you FORGIVE the sins of any, they are FORGIVEN them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’
The Apostle James confirms the practice of confession of sins.
      ●JAMES 5:14-16
      14. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
      15. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
      16. Therefore CONFESS your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
-St. Paul confirms the reception of the power to forgive sins from Christ:
      ●2 CORINTHIANS 5, 18-19
      18. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and GAVE US the MINISTRY of RECONCILIATION;
      19. that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and ENTRUSTING TO US the message of RECONCILIATION.
It is therefore a clear Catholic doctrine that the Church, from the earliest times of its existence, believed in the power to forgive sins as granted by Christ to the Apostles and passed on to their successors, by the imposition of hands.
      THE APOSTLES IMPOSED HANDS
      1.- On the newly baptized, that they might receive the gifts of the Holy Ghost in confirmation (Acts 8:17, 19; 19:6);
      2.- On those to be promoted to holy orders (Acts 6:6; 13:3; 1 Timothy 4:14; 2 Timothy 1:6; Matthew 13);
3.- On others to bestow some supernatural gift or corporal benefit (Acts).
The imposition of hands rite was so constantly employed that the "imposition of hands" came to designate an essential Catholic doctrine
      HEBREWS 6:2
2 You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, THE LAYING ON OF HANDS, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
      May God bless your discernment.

Joe Castillo Jesus Church is Jesus body on earth with Jesus as its only head. Ephesians 1:22. How do we become children of God? As many as believe in Jesus God gave the right to become children of God John 1:12. Then we are baptized into Christ Jesus body his church. Saint Peter says that we are living stones of the spiritual temple 1 Peter 2:4-10 We become a royal priesthood of believers with power to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ which is the power of god unto salvation to all who believe Romans 1:16.

Just by the way. It's as though God himself knows nothing of the Catholic doctrines of Mary because...
In the Bible, in both the Old and the New Testament, all Believers always pray DIRECTLY to God the Father. And in the New Testament it's always directly to God the Father, "in the name of Jesus". In fact when the disciples asked Jesus himself how to pray he said:
"... your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come..."
      Matthew 6:8‭-‬9
      And...
"But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you."
      Matthew 6:6
And in God's Word Jesus himself intercedes for us, not his human mother. This is exactly what it says:
"Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them."
      Hebrews 7:25
Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
      Romans 8:34
      And the Holy Spirit:
      In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
      Roman 8:26
      That's good enough for me.
So, in conclusion, in the Bible the idea is NOT to go to the Son's human mother (or to anyone else), who then goes to the Son, who then goes to the Father with your request. No, your Heavenly Father's wish and desire is that you come DIRECTLY to Him with all your prayers and petitions. I'm not kidding. Check it out for yourself. So why go in little circles when the Father wants, and even commands, that we come directly to Him.
"In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father."
      John 16:26‭-‬27

The Pope is the direct successor of St. Peter. He is the lawful successor of the Pope who preceded him, until we reach St. Peter, the first Pope, chosen by Christ Himself. All the sees founded by the apostles perished or were interrupted, except the see of St. Peter alone. Where Peter is there is the True Church founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ, which He gave authority to teach to follow the doctrine and traditions of the Holy Catholic Apostolic Church.

The Spirit can show up in some very unlikely places. For example, among us ghastly papists. If you are wrong, you have failed to recognize your fellow Christians; others who are also temples of the Holy Spirit. Either way, you imperil yourself.

When I was a teenager, long before my conversion to Catholism, an evangelist was whipping the crowd into a frenzy of what we viewed as worship. This was Alabama and he was trying to make the point that the Ten Commandments demanded we put God first in worship so we should get more excited and give God more applause than the Crimson Tide. I was all for spirited worship, but the moment caught me off guard because I knew he was misquoting. The Ten Commandments demand we worship ONLY God. Only. I immediately realized that there was nothing we were doing to "worship" that we didn't already do to honor, cheer, comfort or encourage living human beings. Even prayer. How many times had pastors emphasized that prayer just meant "talk to." This bothered me for a long time.

Yes Mary was the most blessed woman but the entire new testaments focus is on her son Jesus and what He did for us. You have 20 verses in the new testament that reference Mary by name and yet not one verse to promote her past being the mother of Jesus and being the most blessed woman in history. The writers of the new testament point out the children of Mary and the brothers and sisters of Jesus and yet do not point out the amazing attributes that you ascribe to her? I call her Mary the mother of my savior , I do not call her a verb.

In this way, the supernatural filters through and becomes visible to the faithful, who are thus able to apprehend something of the mystery of God . . . make no mistake, there is a sort of instinct by which souls, without clearly defining what it is they sense, are aware of this radiation of the supernatural."

Had the same experience as Brant..cradle Catholic, devoted to Mary as a child, became ambivalent in my teens, but eventually went back to Her as I grew older...She's more real to me now that at any point in my life...and I love that comment, Mary as the new Rachel :)

Hey @@mustardseed123 right now I am doing great. I've finally sort of settled.
It's been a really difficult time, especially since I was shunned by my previous congregation and I lost a lot of people I love.
That said, I don't see me ever going back to the way I was.
I've really learned a lot, and I am happy that I'm a baptised into the Catholic Church!
It took me some effort to find a good parish, but I found a real good parish with loving people and also a priest who takes things seriously.
Unfortunately I also encountered some where things weren't taken serious.
I think two things really helped me:
      1. Understanding that having fellowship is of absolute vital importance, and really doing my best to get to know the people.
      2. To not be over-anxious and having anxiety as a basis to study things, but also not to let those nagging doubts or difficulties remain; read some good books on topics that are difficult, it will really help when done with the right motivation.
I could say a whole lot more, feel free to ask more if there's anything specific, or if you wish prayers, or whathever 🙂

@The Lesser Confessor We need both sacred writings and sacred tradition as stated in 2 Thessalonians 2:15 Therefore, brothers, stand firm and cling to the traditions WE TAUGHT YOU, whether by speech or by letter.
That seems to be saying the past tense, not future tense as in new traditions will be taught.
and the authority of the Church that Jesus created on the rock of Peter.Matt 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on YOU , I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. Hmmmn could be something wrong there?
Eph 2:19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
It is far easier to believe in Peter being the rock as long as you ignore Ephesians. Peter is part of the foundation of the church along with the other apostles and prophets.

Constantine's church is a pagan mish mash of many gods, idols, costumed occult rituals, superstition, and lies. For centuries popes have burned or hidden any knowledge that might empower the people to self-realization without the interference of church authority. The Vatican is a den of thieves, the mother of harlots, the Synagogue of Satan. There is no trinity of three equal gods in the Bible, no purgatory, no divine goddess Mary people should pray to. The church burned Jan Hus to the stake, and they have killed millions of innocent people in Crusades, Inquisitions, and holy wars to this day. Scripture tells us not to kill, but Christians have been on a killing spree since the Council of Nicaea.

I just want to say thank you two for this video discussion, open my eyes to why Catholics believe what they believe.
    Colossians 2:8
“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
The Holy Spirit gave me the above verses as I was watching this video.
May the grace of our Heavenly Father be with you two, and may the testimony of Jesus Christ be with you both always.
    (Acts 4:10-12)
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye (you)crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
That means only through Jesus Christ do we obtain salvation and eternal life. It’s only through his name, not Mary, all authority was given to Jesus when he died and was resurrected by God. We don’t worship Mary but we worship Jesus. Mary is respected and honored, but shouldn’t be worshipped, or even worshipped over Jesus.
    In Genesis,
Father God, Holy Spirit and Jesus created man. Eve and Mary did not breathe life through their nostrils and man became a living creature.
    Genesis 1:26
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
Absolutely amazing that God chose a women Mary, to be the first person to have Jesus dwelling in her.
    Acts 17:24
    God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
It was God’s plan for his people from the beginning to have a place for God to dwell. Through history women were looked a pond as lesser than man. But God used a women to express his love towards us.
Praise God, that Jesus doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands but he lives within us. What an amazing revelation of the ark of the covenant dwelling inside of us that believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
    Revelations 11:19
And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Men couldn't touch the Ark of the Covenant, it was forbidden, they would die. Joseph knew this, and he had been revealed that what Mary was carrying in her womb was from the Holy Spirit, so I assumed he wouldn't think! about having sexual relations with her. He was Jew he knew very well how to act in that situation.

God never intended for Mary to be any thing but a woman that Brought the son of God in to the world Gal. 4 : 4 ; that all she was She has no mission on earth or in Heaven she is dead only here spirit is in heaven with all spirits and there is not one above the other they are all one in Christ show me in the scriptures where she has any thing to do with the New Covenant and interceding or mediator to Christ . The scriptures say that no one comes to Christ except God brings them , is says that many times in the scriptures . She is not mention in the New Testament letters to the Church In fact Acts 1 : 14 is the last time she is mentioned . Where do you get that garbage that she is the neck of the Church . it is like I said she has nothing todo with the Church . she has nothing to do with salvation of sinners , she has nothing to do with our relationship with Christ , she has nothing todo with Christians worshiping God . we don`t need a dead woman to lead us to Christ every thing you say in your comment is a lie from the pits of hell . Christ mediated the New Covenant He is the High Priest , he is the Lamb with out blemish . His blood is at the throne of God to Cover our sin so we can stand righteous before God . Mary is no where in the pictures . Rev. 11 : 19 , Heavens open and there was seen in his temple or tabernacle his body the ark of his testament or testimony the blood of the New Testament . there was no other Ark mary was not an Ark she was a vessel that God used to bring his son Christ into the world . She has nothing to do with our redemption . Redemption comes by the blood of Christ . so put mary in her Rightful place she was the mother of Christ and his brother and sisters that all she was

What are the 4 dogmas of Mariology?
      Catholic Mariology - Wikipedia
The four Marian dogmas of Mother of God, Immaculate Conception, perpetual virginity, and Assumption form the basis of Mariology. However, a number of other Catholic doctrines about the Virgin Mary have been developed by reference to sacred scripture, theological reasoning and church tradition.
      >>>Why do Catholics pray to Mary?
Catholics do not pray to Mary as if she were God. Prayer to Mary is memory of the great mysteries of our faith (Incarnation, Redemption through Christ in the rosary), praise to God for the wonderful things he has done in and through one of his creatures (Hail Mary) and intercession (second half of the Hail Mary).
It still admits they pray to Mary!!!
----Who is the mother of the rosary?
Our Lady of the Rosary (Latin: Beatae Mariae Virginis a Rosario), also known as Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, is a Marian title. The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, formerly known as Feast of Our Lady of Victory and Feast of the Holy Rosary is celebrated on 7 October in the General Roman Calendar.
It is widely believed that in 1214 St. Dominic had a vision of Mary. She is said to have presented him with the rosary, both the beads and the prayers to be prayed. Dominic had a tremendous devotion to Mary and the rosary, which he promoted wherever he traveled to preach.
If it was biblical, why invent it???
      >>>Only Jesus and the Holy Spirit are qualified to be our intercessors. (Romans 8:26,34). There is only one priest among men who can can go to God in his own right and intercede for us, who himself does not need an intercessor.
      >>>**************
Venerate comes from the Latin root venerārī, which has the various meanings of "to solicit the good will of," "to worship," "to pay homage to," and "to hold in awe." That root is related to Venus, which, as a proper noun, is the name of the Roman goddess of love and beauty.

By addressing her - Mary - you are praying to her. “ come to my help” praying to her! “ I place my eternal salvation in your hands”. Praying to her.
Please stop the charade! You pray to Mary. You elevate her to a divine position. You praise her. You worship her. Please stop denying this fact.
I went into a cave at the roadside when I was travelling around the Republic of Ireland. It was full of statues of Mary and others saints too I guess The odd cross. Lots of notes and letters left behind. Mostly to Mary. It did not look in the least bit Christian but like some pagan shrine - it gave me the creeps. You couldn’t drive very far without seeing a statue of Mary.
In the Catholic Church Mary has replaced Christ
      >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
CCC #2679 Mary is the perfect Orans (pray-er), a figure of the Church. When we pray to her, we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who sends his Son to save all men. Like the beloved disciple we welcome Jesus' mother into our homes, for she has become the mother of all the living. We can pray with and to her. The prayer of the Church is sustained by the prayer of Mary and united with it in hope.
Yet, Catholics insist they do not pray to Mary!!!

I really appreciate your help to have a more biblical understanding of Mary. I love what Augustine says about Mary, but not many early Church Fathers say she was caught up. I do have some questions, even though I really enjoyed listening to this. I do love to know that Catholics really are thinking theologically and biblical rather than what I was taught - just holding to tradition without thinking through it. But here are some questions I have after watching this. Where does it say the woman was caught up to heaven in Revelation? (29:55) She flies to the wilderness (v. 14) and fled to the wilderness (v. 5) and the earth helps the woman (v. 16). Also the child is caught up to God and his throne (v. 5). But what about the woman? And I wonder if there is a lot of language about Jesus in the New Testament that alludes the Ark of the Covenant in the old testament. Such as how Jesus is the mercy seat (Romans 3:25). So maybe the fact the language Luke puts forward of Mary alluding to the Ark of the Covenant is because she is carrying the manifestation of God. So there would be no doubt that Jesus is God. And concerning the word "until" I wonder how Luke uses it the majority of the time in other places of his gospels. Luke 13:35 seems to identify something not happening until something else happens. I sure hope that that people would be able to spiritual see and know Jesus when they come to a place they can say from their heart "blessed is he who comes in the name of Lord!" And the word "until" can be translated to other words right? And how come Luke didn't explain that Mary took that vow in in Numbers 30. He quotes others old testament passages more clearly in other places of his writings, so why not here if it is such an essential doctrine!?

Jesus established the Catholic Church. He promised us that He would be with His Church and us until the end of time. On the night of the Last Supper, Jesus prayed to His Father that we would be united with Him as one, just as He and the Father are one.
He left the Holy Spirit to protect His Church from error. The Catholic Church cannot teach anything that is in error in terms of faith and morals. Teaching Mary as the Mother of God, her perpetual virginity, her queenship in Heaven, are dogmas. They are without error.

We never trust tradition over the word of God. We are not to waste time on Mary. We honor her but even Mary would not want us devoted to her. Our devotion needs to be on Jesus period. We don’t have time nor should we take or make time reconciling mary and please don’t talk to her or sing to her. I am Catholic. As a catholic the Eucharist is our foundation and what Jesus did for us at the cross. We can make anything make sense if we try hard enough. If the church says mary is assumed into heaven then she is but she is not to be worshiped. She is not our advocate, our helper, our life , as so many prayers make her out to be. She can be Queen
, or ark of the covenant, our mother, but she is still one of us. God is adamant in all of scripture that we are to come to him! Always

"Behold your mother" was Jesus's last commandment, while dying on the cross He gave her to us as our mother. That is one of the most beautiful passages of scripture. While dying for OUR sins, He loved us so much he gave His mother as our own.

That certainly sounds good but at what point was John ever a symbol of the world. Jesus gave His mother to John not you and I as Mary is a mortal born with a sin nature and used by God to bring Jesus into the world .
