One of my top 3 albums for sure Low was their evolution IMO....been a Testament fan since the beginning, i was 13 yrs old listening to The Legacy . They are the best still going in 2022-23!
Gene could jump into any metal project and become the icing on the cake and Eric makes some of the tastiest riffs around. Everything is precise and deliberate. The real attraction for Testament is the way they so artfully arrange their melodic movements in a cohesive package while having smooth transitions that even people who aren't musicians can bang to. It shows that they actually care about making damn good songs and not just album fillers. Good jam and priceless for the archives of metal history. Thanks Paulo!
Exactly! I love the lo fi garage stuff like this. Bands should record entire set raw rehersals like this and throw them up on YT and Twitch for extra monetization. Id watch the hell out of them
You can clearly see Gene has not yet warmed up and he's going at it cold. Yet killing it from the start, and it gets better as it goes. What a drummer.
Oh yeah man, Chuck Billy mixing clean vocals/growls on "Low", and then that "Live at the Fillmore" which was near to perfect (or at least for my 15-year-old self :P )
@@AgeofReason It's underrated because it often gets overlooked, while other albums in their catalog typically get listed as their best ones. This one deserves to be among those.
This whole clip is just ear candy. Hoglan’s a monster, and Eric’s playing is equally tight. Been a Testament guy since ‘87. 🎸 But I’m still not convinced they could play Smoke On The Water. 😁
I remember the first time hearing Dog Faced God's and it being the first time Chuck did the more Death Metal style vocals and being blown away! I think this song lead to Demonic and The Gathering being heavier vocally and musically.
@@paulo-naturalchaos-rankor4127 100%! I'm sure you have, but, just in case, please, checkout his work on Death's Individual Thought Patterns and Symbolic albums! He makes the drums 'speak' in such creative ways!
@@vinman109 yes I agree with you. In fact I try to keep up with any and all work he gets involved in. I think and attribute this "creativity" to the fact that he is not only a drummer, but also a guitar player. In Dark Angel - Time does Not heal, he already showed this composition line.
That one reminds me of Hendrix from 2:05 to 2:14. I cannot deny it... Two Gods there...!! My admiration from Spain!! 🥁🙂👍🇪🇦 Gene 'the atomic clock' Hoglan RULES!! He's the best drummer in Metal... Nothing more to say!!

Gene’s always a rockin machine. Huge fan since We have arrived. Hoping to see some new Dark Angel material in the future and happy to see he is back with Testament!
@@Headbanger9000 John wasnt hired to play in White Zombie to play this kind of shit. He was hired because he is a human metronome and could play the beat for More Human than Human non stop for over 40 minutes without losing time and without missing a beat...While he yawned. He coulda kept going but Rob stopped him and hired him on the spot. Right after The Ritual when the route of softening even more these guys released an album that took everyone by surprise and showed every other band (except Metallica who ent on an autistic trip by this time) that the right path for metal was going back to playing heavy (exactly what the guys from Pantera had always known). James Murphy nailed it here and Alex had left some pretty big shoes to fill.
I really don’t care what people think in my opinion Eric is one of the all time underrated metal guitarists. He’s simply bad ass.
@@lotsapasta0858 Polyphia is shit. Super boring, no exciting riffs or whatsoever, sheer skill masturbation.
He's getting off right here
I've never heard anyone say anything bad about him. Is there Eric Peterson hate?

Hard not to read that in Patrick Bateman's voice!
This is that "jamming in the basement, recording with one microphone" kind of feel. LOVE IT!

My first, and still my favorite Testament album!
