All of Mr. Thapar's interviews on this subject should be compiled, and curated. These interviews, in themselves, are an indispensable record, for now and posterity, that would aid in understanding this complex issue in an unbiased, palatable, and just manner. The same holds true for the Manipur story, and many more issues. Historians and scholars will refer to these recordings with deference as the intellectual and journalistic treasures they are.

If someone is pro Israeli, pro Hamas, pro PA, pro NSF, pro Dahlan, pro Fatah, pro Marwan, pro Mustafa or pro Fatah . . . this set of interviews are among the best ever assembled. This is a treasure for anyone, no matter what country someone is from.
Karam Thapar's ability to understand, synthesize and explain are extraordinary. PM Modi should ask Karan Thapar to be one of the leaders within PM Modi's cabinet.

I was pro Israel until I saw several documentaries, reports, data and realize that it is an apartheid state which is conducting genocide since it's formation. What hamas was not justifiable but completely explainable, predictable and avoidable.

And I was pro-arabic (as I was born in USSR, where arabs were always good and Israel was always evil), but then read a number of books and decided that Israel is right at 90%. And after the last hamas attack - at 99%.

Have been watching and raising my concern for Palestine for decades.
Hamas came up in late 1980s, only because Yasser Arafat's PLO couldn't eke out a solution by signing peace accords.
Before Hamas got organized, Israel had innumerable other excuses to ravage Palestine.
They bulldozed Palestinian houses to build illegal settlements, and when youngsters, whose houses were razed, pelted stones on the tanks and bulldozers, Israel deemed it fit to bomb Gaza to punish the Palestinians who opposed the destruction of their own houses on their ancestral land.
Even when there was Gazans were not throwing stones, Israel just used to declare that in some or the other multi-storied building a Hamas operative was living.
And this was enough to bomb innocent Palestinians.
This 2023 Hamas attack is the first serious attack on Israel.
But have seen continuous annihilating of Palestine by Israel for decades.
And almost every time they attack Gaza, they shower Gaza with white phosphorus, destroy electricity, water systems etc.
Israel has made Gaza an open prison where nothing could enter without the permission of Israel.
Haven't seen bigger injustice being done to a people for 76 years.
Just imagine there are 76-year-olds in Gaza who have never seen a normal life.

More and more i listened to these discussions courtesy Karan my respect and awe for the Mahatma increases. His unique way of leading our freedom struggle against the colonial west using Non cooperstion and Non violence was amazing. Resisting all calls for violent action agaisnt the colonial rule gives us as a country the moral fortitude to question these colonial westren powers even to thia day. Dont get distracted by the mindless propaganda of the Rifht against Gandhi. No matter what they do to drum up the terrorists like Godse the current narrstive of the west against Plaestine people should be an eye opener for us. Remember churchill called the Mahatma as terrorist as well eventhough the Mahatma didnt fire a sibgle bullet during our freedom struggle. The vile colonial powers systematically has olayed this game of resistence as terrorism to thier own ends. Salute once again to the Mahatma for shwoing us the way and giving us Moral fortitude in these tough times. Please spread this message.

Most of the politicians bear guilt feelings.
When India was partitioned a lot of the political leaders did things that they might have felt guilty about later, Jinnah, etc and the politics of Kashmir.
But we should be able to put that behind except for historical reference and move on.
The present leaders should not dwell too too much on what past leaderships of previous presidents of US and UK.

The present leaders of neither party directly involved in this conflict are dwelling on the past. It's not a past historical conflict, it's an ongoing one. One party wants the other to not exist completely in their own motherland and the other party refuses to comply. Both parties are currently pursuing their respective goals. Until one of the parties stops pursuing their goal or one of them succeeds completely or both come to a comprehensive compromise solution, it won't become history, so that they can _"put it behind except for historical reference only and move on."_

Scintillating interview of Prof. Rashid Khalidi. I really liked it. Hope to see him again. Though I felt little disappointed to know that younger Palestinians are in favour of armed resistance rather than peaceful and non- violent methods. Can't believe Gandhian methods can fail to yield result( especially in this case)
With growing US presence in West Asia and growing interest of China, Russia in this region war seems imminent.
I am quite aware of the misbehaviour of Israeli authorities towards Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank. Few amature foreign traveller's ( including one from India) have well documented these atrocities and stringent discriminatory practices unfeignedly in their travel vlogs .
I happened to see one of these traveller's account about Hebron, west Bank, Jerusalem, Bethlehem etc and felt sorry for them.

Why on earth, PM Modi of India has sided with Israel? It must be due to the fact that he is an anti Muslim character. Hence he will side with the occupying regime of Israel against Muslims. He was the First Minister of Gujarat State when the ancient Barbary Mosque was destroyed in that State. It was the opposite when the Gandhi party ruled India and was a founding member of Non-Allied Movement.

If the leading Arab nations condemn Hamas, I will.
    If not, I won't.
If the Arab nations around get sympathetic, open their borders and come out with humanitarian assistance and accommodation for the Palestinians, I too will.
    Else, I won't.
I think the best thing to do is to take cue from the Arabs,
Because you and me can never know the Palestinians and the Hamas like their own brother arabs can.
I read that the UAE condemned the Hamas. I know Egypt isn't opening up.
Turkey and Iran don't count, because they have their own game going. Iran isn't even Shia.
Why should I, as an Indian, cry for the Palestinians and declare that the Hamas isn't a terrorist organization like Erdogan did?
I choose Israel, because a friend in need is a friend indeed, and Israel helped us during Kargil War. And it is our second biggest weapons supplier too.
We are for the two nation solution. We support an independent Palestine.
But sorry, we can't support the people of Gaza right now, because the organization they elected as their representative has just carried out a shockingly inhumane terrorist attack.
    India's stated position is
    We strongly condemn terrorism.
    Everything can come later.

So history started in 1948! Isn't it a too convenient argument? When Israel was invaded and enslaved in 7th century by Umar, was there any Palestine state inside Israel? If a religious group is sanctioned for extermination explicitly by the scripture of another religious group, the former has all rights for their survival and to do everything possible for the preservation of their sacred land of faith. There were no instance in the history where the Jews invaded another country. The same is however could not be said about some other religious groups. History is replete with too many instances of enslavement and extermination. Look at what happened to Zoroastrians and their country of several millennia heritage. So if the productive world is smelling coffee, one can't fault them.

We don’t know whether prevention of entry of Jews in US and UK during the Second World War time was right or wrong given the circumstances of the time BUT IT CERTAINLY DOES NOT JUSTIFY WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW.
The scenario during the world war was that Israel was stateless so the political system might have been uncertain as to how to deal with Jews.
My question is, why were the Palestinians so underdeveloped before Israel was born in 1948?
Before Israel was born Palestine could have been a developed nation if they really wanted to develop and grow.
Israel, without any base territory, developed what was given to them.
HOW DO PALESTINIANS LAY CLAIM ON WHAT ISRAEL BUILT, DEVELOPED AND PROGRESSED?
Of course Israel would want to protect what they created from unworthy people who didn’t care to progress from the outset.
During the same time that Israel grew in stature, Palestinians could have grown parallely. Why was Israel progressing at a faster speed than Palestine that was an older country?

What did the Palestinians do before Israel was born? They had everything that was there.
Israel became a great nation because of their commitment to progress. It took them decades to build.
Palestinians could have progressed before Israel was born. Palestinians could have developed while Israel was developing.
But the vision and missions of Israel and Palestine were different. Each chose their path. Israel won the race of progress because of their hard work.
Thereafter the polity of both changed

Call me naive, but what Hamas was thinking that their act of barbaric butchery would not be avenged by robust Israeli retribution? Did it advance the cause of the good people in Gaza one little bit? The butchery on 7/10 was indeed a new low in history. It would be dishonest not to call it inhuman. Palestinian scholars' post-mortem of the massacre on 7/10 is an explanation but cannot be an excuse for their heinous acts.

Very one-sided view. Nearly every point is very questionable (e.g. number of refugees and reasons why they become refugees). And no arguments of the other side is mentioned - e.g. jews expelled from arab countries (in the time of peace, not running away of war). I would say, that the israel's point of view on many questions sounds much more logical.
And, IMHO, the moral qualities of anyone who puts an equal sign between deliberate killing of civilians and military casualties is more than questionable.

Or Israel could stop bombing and committing genocide than moving 2 million people from their homes. Moving civilians out of Gaza plays into the hands of the Israelis. Once they're removed, they will not be allowed to return, thereby conveniently achieving ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. Dangerous though it may be, it is their land, and they have the right to be there.

Hamas's actions are not justifiable at all. They are a terrorist group. But nation-states do not respond to terrorism with genocide. France had deadly terror attacks, especially in 2015. It did not respond by bombing 7000 people to their deaths in 10 days. We have faced countless terrorist attacks as Indians. We don't respond by aerially bombing Srinagar or stopping food, water, medicine and electricity to Kashmir.
Civilised democracies respond to terrorism by sending in special forces to fight the terrorists while trying to co-opt the civilian population of the place. Basically what we are doing after Pulwama. Fight the terrorists, neutralise them, but don't bomb Kashmir mercilessly from the air and drop 6000 bombs per day calling it counterterrorism.@@Anp562

PAST PROPOSALS TO THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM HAS been rejected and FAILED: THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REMOVE BOTH the Palestinians and JEWS from that area. UN run it with a fresh start and let both parties make up their mind what they want to do while they live out side that AREA. UN FORCES TAKE TOTAL CONTROL OF THAT AREA, and let both parties fight their claims away from that area. Each party may live with their supporters. JEWS live in USA/Europe and Palestinians go to Jordan, Egypt etc., (whoever accepts them). UN THEN NEEDS TO MEDIATE THE DEAL WITHOUT ANT OUTSIDE INFLUENCE. LOOK AT HISTORICAL BACKGROUND and LEGITMATE RIGHTS of each party and let A COMMITTEE set up by UN make a plan and enforce it strictly. Any party not obeying the committee decision should be punished and kept away from the area. Once they agree to the rules and terms of the UN committee they start moving back either in a SINGLE COMMON TERRITORY or separate territories. UN LEAVES THEN on satisfactory acceptance by both parties.
