    Melotte 15 Narrowband astrophotography of the central region of the Heart Nebula, Melotte 15. The moonlight was strong this night, so I shot hydrogen-alpha and this is the first part of my narrowband project with Melotte 15. This Melotte 15 narrowband imaging will result in a Hubble palette image of this spectacular target!
    I used a Sky-Watcher 190MN Maksutov-Newton telescope and the ZWO ASI 1600MM mono camera on a Sky-Watcher EQ6R-Pro mount. The narrowband filters come from Optolong and I use astro pixel processor to process the files.
    This is probably the most adventurous astrophoto channel on UA-cam! Follow me out to wonderful remote dark locations near the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland.
    The polar winter is harsh and extremely cold, but the dark skies are among the best globally, and nature is spectacular. But most of all, this is my home, where I do this wonderful hobby!
    If you like my videos, please subscribe and join me out in the harsh polar night!

    You know, I like your images but the cinamatography and production of your videos is great............ they are motivating me to get up and out and image from somewhere remote. Great stuff!

    I thought it was really cold for me down here in Latvia (-25 max on rare nights), but after watching all of your adventures it feels like nothing. And your videos are absolutely astonishing, keep it up. Fingers crossed for it being clear in Stora Sjöfallet national park, can't wait for that. Have a great weekend.

      Thank you! -25 is cold even here! But during December until late February it's pretty common that the temperature keeps below -20°C. There will certainly be expeditions into the mountain areas this season! Have a great weekend!

    Very beautiful image my friend from Swedish Lapland! I always look forward to your videos. Your landscape pics and drone footage are beautiful! I noticed on your polar alignment screen in the ASI Air Pro that the focal length was 0 mm. Maybe this was why the plate solving took so long! Regardless, the stars were nice and round and your auto guiding was fantastic. It is a good thing it was cloudy when you were at the wine tasting . Probably a good trade off for that evening!

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  3 роки тому

      Thank you! Yeah, I changd to 0 by purpose to see if that could have something to do with the slow plate solve. Last time I think it found 997 mm, and now 999 mm. Well, as long as it finds the object I can wait a minute or two. As a sommelier too, I was the one who held the tasting so it could have been possible to combine, but I was also very tired after. But it will be more tours to the mountains this winter!

    Richard - Belgium - Great video Northern Panorama ! I shoot also this target with my 250/1200 SW and 1600MM...your data seem very promising, taking advantage of your dark skies...top...By the way, watching you setting up your gear, I made a kind of "chair" on which I can pose my tube with all the gear attached and remove the whole thing in one move. Putting it in a self made box of mine for transportation...avoiding to remove all those cables + etc...:-)...

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  2 роки тому

      Thank you Richard! Yes I think it looks promising and I'm eager to continue with this project! Your solution sounds interesting, I have thought about something similar. One problem however are that all cables gets very stiff in the cold so I try not to bend them so much to spare the usb-ports and maybe it could be a risk to move all at once after a session, but it certainly sounds interesting!

    "The sky looks sh!t" - David @ Northern Panorama
    Hahaha....
    I agree with Brian, an initial plate solve at the start of a Polar Align can be random in duration for no reason. I thought it was because you removed the FL too, which would explain the thinking time. Strange. However, for your next plate solve, the one after the alignment, my suggestion in the previous video should still apply to help speed up the process thereafter and remove any failed solves. Another great video mate, really enjoyed it. 😉

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  2 роки тому

      haha yeah I'm honest! :) I will continue to investigate the plate solving process, and next time there is clear sky (if it ever gets clear weather again) I will try to start with a plate solve perpendicular to my target! 😀

    Great video David as always. You will be at 1000 subscribers very soon and it will be well deserved! I would also say you are one of the most adventurous astrophotographers out there. I’ve seen all of your videos, I’ve not seen anything else like it, unique even! Great final image. You really do live in a beautiful place. I was in Karesuvanto, Finland, close to the Swedish border, last February to see the northern lights, luckily saw them 3 times! That area is also stunning! Keep up the good work👍

      Thank you! There are a lot of good astrophotographers on UA-cam but I felt early that doing astrophotography at this latitude and during these arctic winter conditions is quite unique. When I go to northern Norway, I use to drive that road past Karesuando (the town name on the Swedish side of Torne River). I had some plan to there during Christmas also, but this damn pandemic stopped it this year too. Hate covid!

    Hej, I'm watched some of your older videos as well. Always very cool and amazing final images. 👍🏼 6:12 I have one question. I bought myself an ASI Air Plus as well some weeks ago but could only test it one time so far due to clouds etc. Is there a way to do polar alignment using the air plus without this 60° rotation? (I'm doing AP from my balcony and every time after the 60° rotation my scope is (partly) directed facing a wall. Re-positioning of the mount is most probably not sufficient. Would appreciate any help. Thanks and looking forward for new videos. :) Clear skies

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  Рік тому +1

      Hej Tully, sorry late answer and you have probably solved this! But yes it's possible in the "all sky polar alignment" that ZWO has added in later versions (don't remember in which build they introduced it). We moved to a new house this winter didn't have clear sight to the polaris and it worked really well actually! Have began a new job, so have not have time to do so many videos lately, but hope it will change soon! Clear skies!

      I will take that into consideration. Swedes, and especially those who live up north are most famous for not smile too often. It must be something special; spot a funny reindeer, to much ice in the beard and thinking what the f-k I'm doing out here alone in the dark. Or something similar.
