I always find the difference between typical UK and US adverts remarkable. That Magnum ad is like so many Wrigley's and Coke ads - polished, glamorous, featuring aspirational lifestyles, yet singularly unmemorable - whereas we got Chris Barrie voicing multiple characters in a weird, animated Skips ad, saying multiple odd lines that would go on to live rent-free in people's heads to this day. CRUNCH!
Great selection today, some here that I’ve never saw before. I remember Monster Munch spokey dokeys, my pal had loads as she was from a big family so they went through loads of packets of Monster munch.
8:30 loved that Skips advert but looking at it now, that guy was so incensed with rage with the idea of a melting crisp that he trashes his girlfriend’s living room. Weird city indeed!
Mechagamezilla did a video on The Infinite Review channel a few months back lamenting the demise of plain chocolate Bounty (by far the superior variety), and tried to retrofit a blue Bounty to a red one by slicing off the chocolate and replacing it with Cadbury's Bournville, to make a BOURNTY bar 😁 It was a joke, but I'm honestly tempted to try something similar... 😄
@@RetroSteveUK I'm skeptical about how similar they'd be, but I've just found multiple recipes that say just to mix dessicated coconut with sweetened, condensed milk, shape, chill then dip in melted chocolate. Since Mars apparently no longer want my money maybe I'll try it 😁
@@RetroSteveUK I heard they were being stopped, and stocked up. I still have half a box in my fridge. Much sadness, and they were better than the milk version.
It always makes me wonder why ads in Europe, the UK, and Australia use characters and imagery for selling a product when the product isn't actually sold in the place depicted by the characters and the characters don't exist in the country where the product exists to be sold.

It was the "Weird City" phrase that I've remembered the most over these years.
