The City of Pasadena is located 11 miles northeast of Downtown Los Angeles. With its substantial downtown area, observers consider it as either a suburb of nearby Los Angeles, or as a significant urban center in its own right.
    Pasadena City Hall
The Pasadena City Hall was completed in 1927 and serves as the central location for city government in the City of Pasadena, California and it is a significant architectural example of the City Beautiful movement of the 1920s.The building is one of the finest examples of the California Mediterranean style and definitely the dominant building in the Pasadena Civic Center.
    City Hall Movie Locations:
The City Hall has long been a favorite shooting location for filmmakers. Some memorable movies where scenes were filmed at the city hall are Charlie Chaplin’s 1940 movie “The Great Dictator”. The building also served as the city hall of fictional Pawnee, Indiana, in the television show Parks and Recreations. Even the dome of the city hall can be seen through the main characters’ apartment building in the television show “The Big Bang Theory”.
    All Saints Church:
Next to the City hall there’s the All Saints Church which is a beautiful brick building. The building itself was built in 1923 but all Saints was founded in 1886. All Saints is an Episcopal church and has a reputation of being one of Southen California’s most liberal churches and largest Episcopal churches in the country. In 1980, all Saints was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing structure to the Pasadena Civic Center District.
    Gamble house:
A couple of miles away from the Pasadena City hall there’s a very iconic house that I personally believe everyone going through Pasadena should visit. The Gamble House, also known as the David B. Gamble House, is an iconic American Craftsman home in Pasadena, California, designed by the architectural firm Greene and Greene. Constructed in 1908-09 as a home for David B. Gamble of the Procter & Gamble company, it is today a National Historic Landmark, a California Historical Landmark, and open to the public for tours and events.
    Caltech:
The California Institute of Technology or Caltech for short] is a private research university in Pasadena, California. The university is known for its strength in science and engineering, and is one among a small group of institutes of technology in the United States which is primarily devoted to the instruction of pure and applied sciences.
Einstein Caltech. This institute was founded as a preparatory and vocational school in 1891 and began attracting influential scientists in the early 20th century. Aided by the booming economy of Southern California in the 1920s Milikan who served as Chairman of the Executive Council from 1921 to 1945 was able to initiate a scholar program inviting visiting scholars to join Caltech. Albert Einstein was one of the scientists that arrived in 1931 to polish up his theory of General Relativity. He returned to Caltech subsequently as a visiting professor in 1932 and 1933.
    Old Town Pasadena:
Often referred to as Old Town Pasadena or just Old Town, is the original commercial center of Pasadena that arose from one of the most prosperous areas of the state, and had a latter day revitalization after a period of decay.
The area was also an artistic center, the home to Andy Warhol's west coast museum debut and the first Marcel Duchamp retrospective.
    Pasadena Playhouse:
This a historic performing arts venue. The 686-seat auditorium produces a variety of cultural and artistic events, professional shows, and community engagements each year.
Beginning around 1912, the period known as the Little Theatre Movement developed in cities and towns across the United States. The artistic community that founded the Pasadena Playhouse was started in 1916 when actor-director Gilmor Brown began producing a series of plays at a renovated burlesque theatre with his troupe. Brown established the Community Playhouse Association of Pasadena in 1917 that would later become the Pasadena Playhouse Association, which necessitated a new venue for productions.

Oh yeah! I loved so much this city! It gave me the impression to be in the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Disneyland 😉
But indeed with the virus, it's like to be in a ghost town in some parts of the city, like in the university for example.

Thank you for watching this video. It's one of my longer ones but there's just so much beauty in that area that I wanted to be able to show as much as possible.

I love the turtles the best! I didn't know they were there. I wonder what they eat.

I wonder too. They look very well taken care of and I'm sure there's gardeners that come to feed them, or at least add some sort of eco system to the little pond so that they can be fed.

The residential area he visited is on the west side; much of the rest of the city doesn't look like that. But the city has improved a lot in the last couple of decades, some of the shabbier areas including the "ghetto" neighborhoods have been gentrified.

    • @TheDavidNeytsShow
      @TheDavidNeytsShow  2 роки тому +2

Yes, there are less nice neighborhoods within Pasadena but in general as you said it's become very gentrified and there are a majority of really nice places to visit and walk-in.
